Bow Wow Playground Doggie Daycare and Boarding

I heard good things about this place. I called for information about boarding and learned they don’t take in pitbulls or pitbull mixed dogs, so I’ll never know for myself. I think thats very unfair. Don’t say you are a doggy daycare if you’re prejudice against particular breeds. That’s not very dog-​friendly if you ask me!

We’ve been taking our young Weimeraner here for almost seven months (twice a week). Our dog loves Bow Wow as do we! Every morning our dog will sit by the car to see if it’s a Bow Wow day and we appreciate the quiet evenings when our high energy dog is wiped out after playing all day.
The staff is super friendly and great with all the dogs, firm when they need to be — but with that many dogs order is crucial! There are separate areas for different sized dogs & I’ll often see the seniors hanging out up front by the desk.
We appreciate the care that is given to the safety of the dogs, and were especially impressed with how seriously they took the recent dog flu outbreak. There were no instances at Bow Wow. The facility is always clean & they carefully screen every new dog to make sure they are up to date with their immunizations and are socialized (initial meet and greet).

We regularly board our senior dog here for our vacations and my parents board their 4 year old dog here as well. My parents bring there dog weekly for day care also and we couldn’t be happier with the care and service that Bow Wow provides. It’s nice to have a boarding facility that our dogs can roam freely through the day and not be caged up. The rates are reasonable as well. We highly recommend Bow Wow and have been coming here fire a while now.

This place doesn’t deserve a star but i has to give it a one in order to post but this place is a joke! I stopped in with my two dogs to ask about obedience classes. First of all, the lady at the register looked at me like i was in the wrong place. I had to yell because of other dogs were barking and we couldn’t hear eachother. I asked her if this was the place to bring my dog for obedience classes and she gave me an attitude she said «yes but the trainer is not here do you expect her to sit here all day» i was kind of shocked as there was another customer inside being rang up. She said «I could give you some info» then i asked where would the training classes be held, i asked if i had to bring them there or at my house and she handed me the business card but i put it back since she was full of attitude. Then she responds by saying «well what do you expect, her to sit here all day waiting»? I told her no but i also didn’t expect her to be so rude! I left and she kept yelling but didn’t hear what she was saying. About 15 minutes later i called the place and asked for a manager and i told her what happened but before i could finish she said the reviews on Unilocal ment nothing to her and it was my opinion. Im happy to have found a trainer who appreciates my business and have been and will tell everyone not to go to bow wow! Not only are they rude but they discriminate against dogs and i hope one day someone tells them they cant go into a store because of their color, because in my opinion its the same thing! Dogs shouldn’t be turned down over their breed. Ignorant people i guess!

We have been taking our dog here for over a year. She loves it! Every time we even just drive by it she jumps at the windows in the car and her tail goes crazy. Everyone there is very nice and they truly care about the dogs. I would recommend Bow Wow to anyone.

This is a nice place that I feel comfortable dropping my baby off at while I’m away. And that’s saying something because I’m pretty protective! All of the dogs there seemed happy and enjoyed playing around. Great place to get your puppy socialized if you don’t want to sit through classes! Disappointing to read about people upset about a «ban» on pitbull mixes when they are known to be dog aggressive.

I was SO excited to find a place that I could bring my puppy for a few hours to play. That was until I called. The first thing that turned me off was the woman on the phone screaming for a barking dog to be quiet. I understand they may yell at dogs for numerous reasons, but you’d think that while on the phone with a perspective new client, they’d tone it down. But not this woman… The next and final nail in the coffin was the fact that this place has a breed ban! Guess I should’ve checked Unilocal before I called as I see I’m not the only owner who has an issue with this. It’s unfair to judge my 7 month old dog before you’ve even met him. And it’s pretty sad that you’re blaming your current clients for the breed ban. But it’s good to know because I wouldn’t want to bring my dog anywhere that he’d be judged for being an awesome, sweet, friendly, kissable, kid loving, ball fetching PIT BULL MIX! I would never subject my puppy to being around ignorant, close-​minded people.
Oh and by the way… there is more that one pit bull mix in the gallery of photos on their website. So CLEARLY the owners at Bow Wow Playground do not know what a pit bull OR pit bull mix looks like!

While I cannot speak for the daycare portion of the business, I will say that their grooming services are fantastic. Dawn does a fantastic job on our golden retriever and is truly an animal lover. I have zero concerns about her handling our beloved dog and her prices are super reasonable. She will be our primary groomer as long as she is in town.
In regards to the daycare center, I would not hesitate to drop our dog off there in the event she needed it. The facility is nice and the staff is super friendly.

Review for Doggie Detail ONLY (the groomer inside Bow Wow)
Dawn of Doggie Detail is an amazing groomer. I’ve taken my furbaby to Petco (ugh) and also a couple strip mall establishments and either he’s traumatized after the grooming or they don’t listen when I make specific requests. Also, my dog is about 25 pounds and she charges $ 35 – 40 as opposed to some of the larger chains that charge $ 55 – 60 and do a half-​a$$ job! My grandma also takes her Wheatie there and he comes out looking handsome too!

We have brought our border collie/​Bernese mix Emma here since she was a puppy and it is now a comfortable second home to her. Joanne and the staff are great and the other dogs are terrific as well. They always give us an update of how she is doing.

At this point I dont care how good the place smells or how friendly they may seem, when you refuse someones dog because of its «breed» thats just plain ignorant and obviously you dont know enough about dogs and those «breeds» to be taking care of any OTHER dog.

Cooper can’t wait to go back. I was nervous and felt guilty for having to board my dog for an evening, but it was my sisters wedding and we had a lot going on and had no one to watch my hyper active and needy 1 yr old boxer lab mix. She can be a real hand-​full. There is no reason to feel guilty when you leave your dog at Bow Wow. The dogs get to socialize and play together all day. JoAnne was so sweet and a true dog lover. When we picked Cooper up the next morning we were so pleased to hear that our dog behaved herself… and Cooper had the privilege of sleeping on the couch at Bow Wow. I couldn’t be happier with this service.

This daycare center for dogs is amazing! I took my dog there for the first time and couldn’t believe the service and care that the owner showed. She was friendly and has created a fun and inviting atmosphere for the pets that stay there. Miles better than crating your dog, I didn’t have to feel guilty leaving for the week. Highly recommended by me and my dog!!!

This place it clean, the staff is caring and i am shocked that not too many pups were there when we dropped our Fender off. Maybe because it is fairly new… i don’t know… but this is a great location just outside of downtown chicago for daycare and/​or boarding. The facilities are truly awesome… it’s HUGE, and the outdoor play area has sunny spots and also shading from a large tent they set up… not only that… it’s not concrete. it has the children’s playground surface safety top stuff. So… for our little monster, we don’t have to worry about him scraping up his paws from running or banging his little chin on the concrete when chasing a ball… it’s happened. He had a blast, and the staff was attentive.
