Place is way over priced for the portions you get. Happy hour is half off all drinks but not food cause they changed there menu. The ceaser salad sucks.

Well I checked in here a few weeks ago as I pulled into the parking lot of this place, only to walk up to the door and realize it was closed… Not sure if it’s closed permanently or what?!? It’s a mystery that we would like to solve, because we’ve eaten there in the past and it was really good… They had a small but good buffet at lunchtime that we liked to get… If anyone knows what’s up with Mixx, please let me know!

Mixx was simply FANTASTIC! We were here with a large group (10 people) this past weekend to celebrate a friend’s birthday, and we could not have had a more perfect experience. To begin with, the staff could not have been more welcoming. We were graciously shown to a large spacious table and our server was excellent — promptly taking drink orders, removing unnecessary items, etc. The menu was outstanding — a large group takes a lot of variety to satisfy everyone. We are STILL 72 hours later talking about our particular favorites. The food was all excellently prepared, wonderfully presented and simply scrumptious! I ALWAYS want to eat this way from now on. A little of this, a little of that. It is a way to live AS WELL AS a way to eat! Well done Mixx! Thank you for a wonderful evening.

Worst restaurant I’ve ever been to. The service was unbearably slow. It took one hour to get our drinks and another hour to get our food. The food was ridiculously miniature in size. (even for a tapas menu) There was no possible way we could share these plates. I’ve seen bigger food come out of an Easy-​Bake-​Oven. I would never recommend this restaurant to anyone and I will never go back. Waste of time and money!

This restaurant is seriously in need of a Gordon Ramsey intervention.
The short version:
They botched our cocktail drinks The waitress did not take our dinner orders until almost an hour had passed, and fumbled the orders (i.e., we did not get half the dishes we ordered). The food was so so, and the tiny portions were hard to share. Lame excuses by the management. We ended up leaving the restaurant still hungry and very irritated. I felt like I had just visited one of those dysfunctional restaurants that Gordon Ramsey tries to rescue in his TV series…
The long version:
Four couples went out last Saturday night to have an evening of food, drinks, and companionship. We expected a great time at the restaurant albeit it was our first visit because of our prior experience at their sister restaurant upstairs, Azie on the Main. After being seated, we ordered our drinks, but the cocktails did not come until a good forty minutes had passed. The odd thing is that the restaurant was practically empty and nobody was at the bar. When the drinks finally came, disaster: a dirty, vodka martini without the olive juice or any olives, another vodka martini with hardly any vodka in it, manhattans without the requisite cherries, etc., etc, etc. One would think that a restaurant with a name like «Mixx» (and a cocktail glass as a prominent part of its logo) should have a great bar staff… By the time we got the cocktail problems sorted out, an hour had passed. As the guys were seated on one side of the table and the gals on the other side, we decided order two separate sets of tapas-​like dishes. Perhaps, this confused the waitress, but she completely bungled the orders for the guys. The gals did eventually receive most (nine out of twelve) of their dishes, but the guys ended up getting only three. Why? The waitress’s response: Oh, I thought they were kidding about ordering the entire right side of the menu (which consisted of ten dishes). Shouldn’t she have at least asked or confirmed the order? When we confronted the manager about this, she comp’d us on the drinks, but made nonsensical excuses about not being able to comp us on the dishes that they had managed to deliver. Normally, I would consider this a fair compensation for our travails, but the food that they managed to deliver was mediocre at best. As one of the guys, I only managed to taste half of each slider dish that we ordered because they only had two sliders on each dish. Despite the fact that we requested that they be cooked medium rare, they came out overcooked – hard and dry. One of the slider dishes, a «Kobe» slider, was definitely not Kobe-​like. I did not get to even taste the third dish of spicy mussels because there were only three (to be shared amongst four). What little we did manage to partake was miniscule in portion and badly prepared. We decided not to wait further for the rest of the food decided to pay up and leave. As we were making our exit, we overheard other customers complaining about similar problems of lackluster food and tiny portions
Having read other reviews which greatly praise the restaurant, I am somewhat perplexed. If I were to believe these positive reviews, I would have to conclude that these reviewers have very low expectation, or that the restaurant dynamics has changed significantly since their visits. Perhaps, the real explanation is that there is a schizophrenic aspect to the management and staff that causes either great or horrible experiences for its patrons. Unfortunately, we ended up getting the «Mr. Hyde» treatment.
Conclusion:
Caveat emptor.

This place is terrible. I’ve been here twice now, hoping maybe it’d get better the second time around. It didn’t… In fact we cut our visit short and went down to Gullifty’s instead. I read a few reviews of people saying the place was empty but they were there at a weird time. Nope, it’s always empty! Drinks are probably just a dollar or two over priced, even considering the area. And even though no one was there the service was still slow… how does that happen? The food I’ve had was pretty good… But there’s really no atmosphere, nothing great about the drinks, and the service doesn’t stand out. I’d skip this place!

I’ve been to Mixx twice now in the past month or so and I don’t think I will be returning. Both times were on a Saturday night where despite most other restaurants in the Wayne area being packed, Mixx was at most only 25% full. The service is mediocre at best and the food not much better.
EXPERIENCE: The «concept» at Mixx, as explained on the menu, is that «rather than offering individual starters and main courses, Mixx serves dishes that are designed for sharing among friends and are brought to the table steadily and continuously throughout the meal.» The dishes are roughly organized into starters, salads, larger «entrée» like dishes, as well as sliders and skewers. Despite the menu advertising that the food will come out in a «steady and continuous» manner, what ensued about 5 minutes after our order can only be described as a barrage of food. Multiple servers brought out one dish after the other, giving us time to barely start on the previous dish, and we quickly ran out of space on the table. This then led to the servers trying to rearrange the dishes already on the table and squeezing the new dishes on the table all while we frantically tried to eat so we could clear up some dishes that could be taken away to make more space. The whole time I ate I felt like I was racing the waitstaff to finish one dish before the next came out– it was by no means a relaxing dinner.
FOOD: On my first visit there, my friend and I ordered five of the dishes — the calamari, chicken pot stickers, cheese steak dumplings, beef brisket sliders, and filet tenderloin skewers. On our second visit (we decided to give the place one more shot), we ordered the same thing except replaced the skewers with the Lobster Risotto Croquettes (repeating the previous order not because we’re afraid to try new things but simply because the menu does not offer too many other enticing choices). I wouldn’t call the food inedible, but I would say it’s below mediocre. Portion sizes at times are almost laughable. The lobster risotto croquette dish, despite costing $ 7, consisted of three spheres whose diameters were no larger than a dime’s (and in fact maybe a bit smaller than a dime’s) – as such, the appearance of the dish could only be described as comical. Furthermore, whether the dish even contained any lobster is up for debate (you couldn’t tell from the taste of it). The cheese steak dumplings’ ($ 5) taste reminded me of the odor that lingers after a dive bar wipes off a table with a dirty rag soaked in a diluted bleach solution. The chicken pot stickers (we got them steamed) were bland ($ 5). The portion size of the skewers ($ 6) was approaching crumb status. On the other hand, the calamari ($ 7) is at least decent (and the portion size at least reasonable), and we did think the beef brisket sliders ($ 6) were legitimately good (despite the rolls being somewhat dry).
The speed at which the food comes out after it is ordered is somewhat concerning. Both times, the barrage of food began for us only 3 – 5 minutes after ordering. We guessed that they must have some sort of buffet setup in the kitchen where servers simply spoon out the ordered dishes – either that, or they’re just microwaving everything!
SERVICE: On our first visit, service was atrocious. We waited perhaps 10 minutes for our server to even appear, and then an equally long time to get our drink order (a pitcher of beer), despite being only about 3 feet away from the bar. On our second visit, speed of service was fine, but the server gave off an air of apathy (and based on everything else I’ve seen at the restaurant, I really can’t blame him).
Overall, there are much better places in the area to eat than Mixx. While the price of most of the portions may seem reasonable, keep in mind that their sizes are quite (and sometimes laughably) small. The service won’t win any awards, and the food won’t either. I had hoped Mixx would offer a refreshing alternative to the typical hot spots a mile or two further down Lancaster Ave, but sadly it has only disappointed.

Great bartenders and drinks. Unfortunately, needs to either market better or people need to just get themselves there! Great dance floor and layout and the staff really looks out for the customers to make sure they have a great time while they are there. Give it a shot on a Friday or Saturday night and bring a group of friends! Thats what we did and even with a low crowd we had a great time!
Bonus — its connected to Azie which has great sushi so its a double win when you go!

We just had our daughter’s wedding reception at Mixx and it was 5 stars +. The Event coordinator Allie and the rest of the staff did an incredible job of making it a wonderful night! They are usually closed on Sunday evenings and so we were able to book the whole restaurant. The ambiance is both casual and elegant– love the damask décor! The food was incredible– especially the Mongolian beef and the appetizers (Calimari and Potstickers) served hot and in generous portions. Everyone enjoyed the 3 different rooms– the dining area for relaxed conversation, the bar– lots of seating and our favorite local beer and wine for a reasonable price!, and the dance floor at the front of the restaurant. It was a night to remember! Thanks for a great time– top notch service and delicious food!

Came here to see a friend and her cover band play on a Saturday night. It was the July 4^th weekend, so most people were out of town, evidenced by the empty restaurant when we arrived at 7pm.
We were handed the special sushi roll menu upon arrival, and I got a little worried. Looking around, this doesn’t look like a sushi restaurant. A lot of brick and some classic black-​and-​white patterning cover the walls. Reminded of me of those non-​Japanese restaurants that serve sushi but have no business doing so.
But after a quick Unilocal mobile check on the sushi, we ordered the volcano and spicy yellowtail rolls and, wow, they were great.
I reluctantly ordered the basil fried rice with crab meat, my nerves caused by restaurants that have traditionally skimped on the crab in the past. However, I was pleasantly surprised at the ample portion of crab nestled in a bowl of delicious fried rice.
The food was great and the place looks like it is kept in pristine condition. I did get a really bizarre look from a bartender when I closed my tab after one beer, but otherwise, it was a very enjoyable night.

My boyfriend and I stopped into Mixx due to a Groupon for 50% off we had on a Monday night. It was really empty (due to the day and time, I hope), but was nicely decorated, had a large bar area, and tons of seating. Upstairs I know they have another restaurant, but we stayed downstairs for dinner and drinks. They had jumbo tvs broadcasting the latest sports games.
Drinks were fairly priced. They have a good happy hour from 5−7pm M-​F with half priced appetizers and $ 3 drafts so we got beer and their Philly sushi roll which kind of tasted like a cheesesteak.
Both our meals were pretty tasty, but I do agree another reviewer who said portion sizes were a little small. I took home leftovers, but this was because we ordered an appetizer.
Service was pretty standard. We had an attentive waiter, but I think it was due to the restaurant being nearly empty. The manager was very friendly.
Overall I’d come again for happy hour with co-​workers, but probably on a Friday to get a larger crowd. They also have a great outdoor seating area upstairs which would be awesome in summer.

I normally don’t write reviews however I felt that my evening last night at MIXX deserved a review. I went here last night for happy hour-​this place made my evening. I meet up with a couple of friends and we really enjoyed ourselves. The food was a little bit of a wait however it was definitely worth it. We ordered a bunch of sushi and it was incredible. My favorite was the shrimp tempura roll. The staff were on point and very attentive. The manager was great he apologized for the wait and was extremely nice. We had a great time the food was definitely worth the wait! I will be coming back here again! I highly recommend this place!

Food was COLD! Staff was RUDE! Manager unapologetic to say the least!
Went on a Monday night, place was empty, three servers working but ours kept disappearing and forgetting things. Good food could have salvaged the meal but that’s not what we got.

I went here on a Saturday night with a few friends. We decided to get some sushi (which is made at Azie upstairs). We were all pleasantly surprised at the quality of the sushi. Also the sushi prices were very reasonable. In addition to our sushi, we had a few drinks and there was a live band playing. Although we couldn’t hear very well because of the volume of the music, the band was pretty good. A few pitchers of Blue Moon later, I’d say my friends and I had an excellent time! I would definitely come here again with my friends for some drinks and good food.

Unpleasant experience for several reasons.
Take «butterfish» (actually escolar) off the menu! (See reason in link below, which a member of our party experienced 36 hours after eating butterfish there.)

We loved it when it used to be Mia, were disappointed when it closed. The new owners now offer, like Mia did, an upper scale dining in the upstairs floor and a sports bar atmosphere on the lower floor, called Mixx. Being from the West Chester boro, we have many sports bars, Mixx is a step up. We call it a sophisticated sports bar. Great atmosphere, big screen tvs everywhere, as we enjoyed the Philies game. Varied menu, reasonably priced. We enjoyed a delicious caesar salad, excellent salmon and delicious pasta bolognese. Highly recommend this restaurant.

I’ve come here a few times and am extremely pleased with the bartenders and servers here. They are very attentive to customers’ needs and very fast. This is a great Happy Hour as well with changing drink and food specials. I will recommend this bar to anyone in the area looking for a better-​than-​pub-​style bar.

Went here with a group of 6. They take rezzies for groups of 8 and I had made one when we were going to be 7 (1 got sick and couldn’t come). But we could have just been seated no problem. Was very surprised that at 8:45 on a Saturday it was not more crowded. The drinks list is impressive but they were oddly out of a lot of the ingredients. My rock candy drink came without the rock candy, and the server didn’t say anything, just put it down; even though he knew that was part of why I wanted the drink. The martinis got screwed up too – which is the gin one? which is dusty and which dirty? One came with blue cheese olives and one didn’t because they ran out of blue cheese. I had a good time b/​c I was with my friends and it was my bday, but I’m not sure I’d dash back here. Maybe for a drink and snack… Fried chicken appetizer was apparently good (it’s meant to share and is too big for one person). Calamari was OK. Hawaiian Butterfish was very nice though. Molten cake was a little molten but the rest of the cake was stone cold, which was odd. We had a nightcap at the bar, and by about 11:30 we’d closed the place down. Unfortunately, I think this resto is going to go the way of its predecessor Maia if they don’t get some kinks worked out (dude, there’s a Genuardi’s ½ mile away – go buy some blue cheese) and drum up some publicity. Hidden behind the Citibank in ‘nova, they ain’t gonna get much foot traffic.

Just have to note again on the great experience I had at Mixx. Went there this past weekend for my bf’s birthday. We had a party of 10 and every one of us expressed the same opinion of our experience. I just love the décor of this place– it’s fun and playful for any type of party– couples, large groups, families, girls night out, etc. You can’t beat the prices, especially for the quantity and quality of a mainline restaurant.
Key notes of the night were the $ 10 kobe beef sliders, an instant hit at our table. So juicy and topped with yummy carmelized onions. Another favorite is the tempura calamari– the roasted peppers are a nice change from the usual tomato or cocktail sauce that usually comes with this dish. All of our entrees were big in size and flavor. We had a variety of pizzas, pastas, and sandwhiches. There’s something on the menu for everyone. Service was prompt and efficient also.

OK so I went back and have to say that for drinks and a snacky poo or two, Mixx is great, but if you go for dinner, you end up hungry unless you order an extra side or two… which kind of defeats the low prices they promise… so I am taking away a star…
The food is still great, the service is superb, but I would stick to ordering off the appetizer menu and drinks…
