We are a small family blueberry farming offering «You pick» ($ 1.65 lbs.) or «We pick» ($ 2.00 lbs.) blueberries. On the weekends we sell blueberry pies ($ 10.50) and muffins in boxes of four ($ 6.99) a box. Of course they are all made with Thompson’s Blueberries.

History

Established in 1937.

My grandmother Thompson was the first to go into the commercial blueberry business shortly after the blueberry was hybridized by the USDA. Prior to that she picked wild blueberries along with many others in the New Jersey Pine Barrens and sent them to market by train. My father expanded the business and today I own and operate our small family farm.

I took over the business from my brother in 2012 and currently teach sustainable horticulture at the Community College of Baltimore County. I hold a doctoral degree in ecology and wrote my dissertation on the domestication of the blueberry.
