Was thrilled to see how large the store was and the variety of items for sale. At a closer look, I saw many of the items with expired dates, some as far back as 2012. NOTFORME!!! Doesn’t the Health Department check this??? Overheard someone trying to return an item and the first question the clerk asked was«is the item expired»? REALLY??? I quickly left. I work too hard for my money to shop at an overpriced store with expired stock.

I have been coming here for years! It’s a great health food store, packed with supplements, herbs, natural personal care items, organic groceries, books, and lots of other natural health-related items! The staff is very knowledgeable and helpful, willing to answer your questions. Their inventory is huge, and whatever they don’t carry they will order for you. I love coming to Haar’s!

Great health food store for vitamins, tea and so much more! I find something new every time I go in. Prices can be high but that’s what to expect when you want to live a healthier lifestyle. I haven’t experienced any negative customer service like some people have described on here.

I am not particularly keen on health food stores. I think they sell a lot of expensive products to people looking for a «fix». Haars is no different in that regard. It does, however, have some products that we like; most notably, Gert is fond of the fresh all natural peanut butter. Yup, they dump peanuts into a grinder, turn it on, put the container underneath, place the lid on it, and then hand it to you. It doesn’t get more fresh than that. She eats copious amounts of the stuff. They also sell cashew butter prepared the same way for twice the price. I have been able to find a few specialty items here over the years. Many of these(coconut oil and flour) are now found less expensively in Shop Rite. The staff has been helpful and friendly every time I am here.

I was really happy to discover this store. It’s crammed with all kinds of health foods and natural products. Literally crammed in. The space is small and that have lots and lots of items, so it takes a while to scan the shelves. It’s a great place to go for herbal remedies or other natural products. They also have a deli counter and refrigerator cases in the back with more food and stuff(and fresh cashew butter at the counter!) I think I missed more than half the items in the store because I was staring at the liquor-filled chocolates for so long. Hey, it’s Christmas time, I thought they’d make good gifts… for myself.

Haars is a definite contradiction. They are a health food store and a specialty foods shop/delicatessen. In one half of the store you can buy Toblerone, Mozartkugel and head cheese. In the other there’s bee pollen, herbal toothpaste and all-natural muscle enhancement powder. Their inventory of both types of products is extensive. It’s amazing they can squeeze so much variety into such a compact store. Haars has been around since the 1930’s and is the«go-to» place for imported and«new age» foods & products.

Joy G. reviewed this place pretty perfectly. Huge selections of various things, especially –(can’t believe you left this out, Joy) — *chocolate*! You’re looking for a special treat that you had in Europe, but can’t find state-side? Well Harrs probably has it, especially if it’s a type of chocolate. Larger frozen selection that other health food stores I’ve been to, but there is no fresh produce that I can recall. Definitely worth a trip to just walk the isles and see what they have. Single serve ice cream and frozen snacks are by the register!

Haars is a small store jammed with a great assortment of health food, herbal supplements, eco friendly cleaning products and beauty supplies. They also have a HUGE selection of herbal teas. They also have a small assortment of asian, european and in particular German groceries. There’s also a deli, frozen and refrigerated foods. This small store is SOPACKED with stuff that you can wander for a while and not see the same thing twice. It’s definitely not wheelchair accessible because there is merchandise in every nook and cranny. Haars is very different from the other health food store in town, Organics. They don’t sell organic produce, or have much Indian foods. But they do have a better selection of beauty and hygiene products, more tea and more imports. They also have a big selection of candies, many of which are imported, and a fair selection of sugar-free candies for diabetics. They also have a good selection of supplies for making sushi, such as mats, rice and a variety of nori(seaweed.) The customer service is not as good as it is at Organics, which I prefer, but I frequent both stories because their product lines are very different.
