History

Established in 1979.

Rabe Hardware has been a family owned and operated company located in Blairstown, Iowa since it was founded in 1979. It began as the local hardware store but has since grown into a full-​service home mechanical company; providing geothermal, electrical, plumbing, HVAC and indoor air quality services. Now in its second generation, Rabe Hardware has added a second location in Vinton, Iowa and has become east central Iowa’s most trusted service company. We specialize in designing, engineering, and installing complete comfort systems for owners of existing homes and buildings just like yours.

Business Owner

Jake Rabe grew up around the family business, Rabe Hardware Inc., where he began learning about home mechanical services at an early age. As a young adult he joined the Marine Corp and served as an F-​18 Fighter Jet Mechanic during the Gulf War. In 1994, Jake and his wife became owners of Rabe Hardware and have since developed the business into Iowa’s leader in the geothermal industry. Jake has over 17 years of industry experience with over 1500 geothermal installations under his belt. He currently holds 5 Master Licenses in Hydronics, HVAC, Refrigeration, Plumbing & Electrical and is IGSHPA certified. Under Jake’s direction, Rabe Hardware has also been awarded GeoComfort’s Sales Champion Award and Top Iowa Dealer Award every year (2009, 2010, 2011) since partnering with GeoComfort Geothermal Systems.
