I would like to start by saying, I gave the manager a chance to contact me TWICE before I decided to post this HORRIBLEREVIEW. I am the«Ice Cream Queen», I was so excited when Bruster’s on VIRGINIABEACHBOULEVARD came back with the Double Chocolate Chuck! I thought I would cry! However, I did cry when I found these plastic, elastic, white strings in my chocolate ice cream! I was shocked and horrified by what I saw! I called Bruster’s TWICE to speak to a manager and I left my contact information with Tamara a sales associate! I NEVER received an APOLOGY or a REFUND for my ice cream! Long story short, I support Bruster’s ice cream company but please if you love ice cream and care about your children DONOTTAKE them to THISCOMPANY it is not safe ! I have included pictures, so you have been warned !!!

Great place!!! Visited while on vacation. Had sea salt Carmel and gram cracker explosion in a waffle cone. Waffle cone very fresh and yummy! You could smell them when you walked up to order at the window. Recommend giving it a try!

Cookie dough«blizzard». Ask them to go light on the cookie dough or grab a smaller size. It’s very filling! A place like this is only good when it’s hot outside but it’s a double edge sword… You can only enjoy your ice cream outside. So if it’s really hot, your ice cream melts and you’re burning up. Here’s what I would do. Pull into a parking spot. Leave your car running with your AC on high. Get your ice cream. Jump back in your car. Take your sweet ol’ time.

With flavors like Tiramisu, Toasted Almond, Toffee Bar, Strawberry Cheesecake, Turtle Cheesecake, Tuxedo Strawberry, White Galaxy, White Raspberry Truffle and many more… how can you not stop by and check out this favorite ice cream spot among so many. It is important to note that Bruster’s ice cream is made fresh-right in the store, so available flavors vary by location. My experience at this location was somewhat bittersweet. I hadn’t been to Bruster’s in a long time and I’d usually go to the one on Cedar Rd. in Chesapeake(I hear that location is now closed) however, I couldn’t remember who had the best Strawberry Cheesecake ice cream. Did I prefer Bruster’s or was it Cold Stone’s creamery? All I could remember is that one of them used actual cheesecake chunks and real strawberries. So, instead of asking for a sample… which I should have done, I went ahead and placed my order. When the young lady brought out the ice cream, I quickly remembered that it was Cold Stone Creamery that uses the cheese cake chunks and real strawberries. Bruster’s uses a strawberry swirl and a cheese cake flavored ice cream. The young lady noticed the look on my face and realized that what I ordered was not what I was looking for… so she kindly offered a different flavor. I decided to go with my other favorite, the mint chocolate chip. It was fresh and delicious. Tasted fantastic! I was very pleased and my cake cone was also fresh and crispy. Although I didn’t walk away with the type of ice cream I initially had in mind, I was glad that I was able to enjoy one of my all-time favorite flavors.

Ice cream here is nothing to rave about, They only have about a dozen flavors actually in stock at any given time despite their website. Their teenaged employees are absolutely trifling and messy when giving you your food.

Wife purchased pint of grand central station for my birthday. On my birthday I found out quickly they forgot all the add ins(chocolate shavings and crushed graham crackers), called them and was told to bring it back. Went there on Sunday and was told since I ate some(2 spoon fulls), they would not do anything for me. Manager was called and I was told she supervised all ice cream made in the last week and no mistakes were made. I will NEVER visit them again, awful customer service, incompetent management.

Even on a cold winter day, the ice cream is worth waiting in line for! The service can sometimes b e a little slow, but the smooth creamy ice cream is the real deal. Parking is sufficient, but I recommend using the often overlooked drive through window to beat the crowd. Bruster’s also sells hand packed ice cream by the pint, quart and half gallon. It’s a bit more expensive than what you can buy at a supermarket, but the quality is vastly superior. Brusters is amongst the best in a town that knows its ice cream!

Awful costumer service! When my sisters and I came on a Saturday night at 8 and ordered a chocolate milkshake she said sorry out machine is closed. When we asked what the heck that means she said she cleaned it already. So basically they lost a sale. Not a good way to treat your customers. You smell like butt

My husband and I really enjoy ice cream. Heard about this place and it’s pretty close to our house, so we decided to try it. I have to be honest it’s nothing really special about it. Their waffle cones are delicious but I personally would prefer going to cold stone. We’d come back again.

While I ate every bit of my nutty coconut ice cream, I have to say I have had better. This is a cute drive inn concept, however. They certainly have a following and many people were here purchasing. It’s creamy, very sweet, but not as many nuts or flavor as the Baskin Robbins nutty coconut. My sister, Mom and nephew enjoyed their selections(butter brickle, black raspberry and mint chocolate chip, respectively) The staffing was short tonight and unfortunately it appeared to get the two of them down and service was not so great, but I understand that feeling of not having enough help. I would try again and devour all of what I ordered but not convinced it is the best ice cream.

Besides having amazing ice cream, this location has amazing people. After enjoying our treat along with our dog who loves her brusters pup cup, our car broke down in the parking lot. While waiting in the intense heat for AAA, a Brusters employee came out with ice cold bottled waters and a bowl for our dog too. A bad day made better with the kindness of strangers!

If I were to write this review based solely on the ice cream, I’d maybe give it another star. But since I prefer to review my overall experience, I’m being gracious with three stars. The ice cream is ok, nothing spectacular. It has a nice, creamy consistency which I enjoy. Both of my daughters ordered kids sundaes that came with cookies. They were hard and not very good. Not a big deal considering we were there for ice cream, not cookies. My biggest issue with this place though… While the girl helping us was very sweet and patient, the other girl inside was walking around with a barefoot child. I’m guessing she was maybe two or so. I don’t really know, or care, but why why why do you have a child with you at work? Let alone, BAREFOOT! I just don’t get it. My recommendation, if you’re craving some ice cream, go to the store and buy a tub. It’s cheaper and just as good.

Desperate times call for desperate measures. When you’re dying for ice-cream, this is a temporary fix but don’t expect a cute, old-fashioned ice-cream parlor as this place is anything but. It’s a depressing store on the side of the highway and the servers work behind plastic windows(think dodgy liquor stores). However, in spite of this tempting exterior, the ice-cream isn’t that bad. I had a sundae topped with hot chocolate sauce and they did squirt a bit too much on but I did manage to eat it all. If you’re hanging for ice-cream but not all fussed about the place, this place does the job.

I can’t say it’s better than Cold Stone Creamery, but Brusters is definitely an ice cream shop worth dropping by. The walk-up window gives it a classic homemade feel and the ice cream is just delicious(but really, what ice cream isn’t?). My favorite thing about Brusters is the ice cream cakes. Absolutely delicious and the price isn’t bad either.

I dig on some Bruster’s. It’s kind of old school. Maybe it’s because it reminds me of this little walk-up ice cream place we used to go to when I was a kid in the Outer Banks. I think their ice cream is better than Carvel, for example. And they seem to have more ice cream creations — Sundays and banana splits and all that. It’s too bad the outdoor seating area is right up against VB Blvd with nothing to separate the two. Not the most relaxing place to enjoy your cone.

I grew up with High’s Ice Cream. It was so popular that it had both ice cream shops and was sold in stores. I guess the last High’s, selling Hershey’s Ice Cream, I think, has come and gone. I think it was on Portsmouth Blvd. on the Portsmouth/Chesapeake boundary. I miss the real ‘High’s’. I must admit, though, since I’ve been going to Bruster’s, I’ve started to miss High’s less. I love that their standard and unique flavors are made on the premises. I’m not an extravagant ice cream eater. I don’t go for huge sundaes drenched in chocolate and fruit. My choices are simple and my favorite is Banana and Strawberry. I like to do a single cup with this combo. I do a few others as well — Strawberry Cheesecake, Pina Colada, Cookies and Crème, etc. Love their ice cream and make it a point to pay them a visit a few times a month although they are not close to my physical location.
