Capt. Jack’s Pirate Ship Adventures

I am very pleased with this cruise adventure. My learning center took 3 classes out on different days with kids ranging from kindergarteners to 5^th grade. They loved it! The price per child was very reasonable and they made it very convenient for us to park our vans. All the employees were very pleasant, friendly, and made it very fun for the kids. They all had face paint, and came back with lots of goodies! We will definitely make it a summer field trip from now on!

This is something that I enjoy doing every year. The shows that they put on are pretty cool. Staff are amazing. For the adults? Grap a drink and head to the upper deck, while watching the kids play below. There is always a decent Jimmy Buffet tune playing on the system. Keep your eyes out for the bald eagle’s that like to hang out behind the museum. As the boat captain where they are. It’s an awesome sight to see. Sit back and enjoy the show and ride. Don’t forget to bring the camera for those amazing pictures.

Captain Jack’s pirate cruise was so much fun on Saturday August 1^st. Me and my friends had a great time. I would like to thank Nolan for all his help and getting our reservation straight. Can’t wait to try it again.

Barely worth 1 star! 21+ cruise a total rip off! Tried with Groupon and still feel ripped off! No food included or even available and not informed of this! No complimentary ANYTHING! Even water cost money! Got off boat to get food as we arrived hungry and boat left us!!! All that drinking and no food. Means a lot of drunk folks!

This was an awesome afternoon for the kids. My 14 year old and 10 year old kids begged to go on this trip and had a ton of fun. My 15 year old just enjoyed the boat ride. The staff was awesome and stayed in character the whole time. Kept the kids duly entertained. The best part was that they have the opportunity to really price gouge their customers, but don’t. The little pirate character props/​gadgets were affordable. The pre-​boarding family picture was only $ 5 when pics like this at theme parks or museums run up to $ 20. Even drinks were cheap. Thank you for that, Captain Jack. The staff took time to chase dolphins for a bit, too. Water cannons were a big hit. I did not expect the surprise ending, however. Would definitely do it again.

I can’t say enough about how awesome this was! The kids had such a good time. The crew were in character and spectacular! Excellent pirate experience! The kids were entertained the entire time. From shooting pirates and loading canon balls. Highly Highly Recommend!

I loved it and most importantly my daughter loves literally every second about it! Let’s just remember your on a PIRATE ship not a cruise ship of course they is going to be yelling, they’re pirates for crying out loud! If they were talking with a soft timid voice I would want my money back. Plus they are talking across the boat so it’s excepted but once they get the kiddies in front of them they talk with a low volume. All there games were kid friendly for all ages, my daughter was 3 years old and there were kids around 7 years old to 1 years old playing and dancing around. They go full character non stop and a fully entertaining. Each kid leaves with their own treasure, gold dabloon, and pirate map. They also take tips at the end so bring some cash for the end.

Nice cruise. Fun for the kids. They kept them entertained the whole time. Good family fun.

We arrived and walked down the pier to get on the boat only to be yelled at by some lady putting on a horrible «Irish» accent which kept switching between Irish and Scottish to stay where we were I’m guessing because no one was at the ticket booth, cruise was ok went to the end of the strip on the shoreline then back but it was a 21+ cruise so of course main focus is alcohol this is where i was done with it Mixed drinks were $ 8 for a small 6oz with hardly any alcohol (you can get a full size cup at watermans for $ 5!!) and $ 4 for a can of budlight complete ripoff and then some guy who was putting on an english accent yelled at my wife because she happen to be standing next to the life vest door THAT WAS OPEN ALREADY and she looked it in and was told to GET OUT OF THERE AND CLOSE THE DOOR in a very condescending tone most likely wont be coming back and will not recommend it not that they’ll care anyway

Went on the 21+ cruise last night. Thought it was going to be corny but actually one of the most fun things me and my boyfriend did on our week long vacation. We had a great time! Good drinks, GREAT club music playing, and the crew on the ship is just absolutely amazing at what they do. «Amazing Grace» is the best. Will definitely do it again when we go back! Only thing I’d change is I wish it was a little longer than an hour and a half! We didn’t want to leave!

My family and I had a great time on this outing. The ride included music and games for the kids. They even got to fight off an attack from a rival pirate named Black Beard. The kids had their faces painted, shot water guns and danced all on board. The staff was nice the seas were a tad rough on the way out to the ocean. The kids were awarded a share of the treasure and an official map. Free parking in a tight lot. Arrive early to secure a parking spot.

All in all it was a nice effort, but the act was extremely tacky and borderline disrespectful (at certain points) I understand that pirates are supposed to be rustic but telling a little girl that she is going to give her father «pay back» by chopping off his hand is just a tad bit bizarre for my tastes.
I agree with another reviewer about the hosts screaming and yelling at one another. A few times is fine, but excessively is not cool.
The price for refreshments and pictures were very fair.
When I went to purchase some refreshments from the bar, I was chit chatting with the «pirate» getting my drink and popcorn. When I told him something (I can’t quite remember what I said, but it may have been that I’m from Brooklyn). His reaction was «say what?!?» in the most ghettoest «black girl voice» he could use. He immediately apologized profusely for it and said that his little sister uses the same voice and he’s not even sure why he did that (making the moment all the more awkward for him more than me. I expect that type of patronizing ignorance being in the south). I’m sure he did it because he thought he was «relating to me». No, sir. You weren’t. That foolishness may go down with the locals, but not with New Yorkers. Luckily I was in a nice mood and with my child so I let it slide (ofcourse until I did my Unilocal therapy lol).
Aside for those few hiccups, my son had a nice time. The children should be 8 and older, otherwise they may be a little scared and confused.
If you’re a man/​woman of color, be prepared for them to try to «speak in your language». –_–

If you’re looking for a fun bar type experience, check out Captain Jack’s Club 21+ Cruise. Complete with a bar, DJ, & dance floor, but the best part is that it’s on a pirate ship that sails up & down the coast of Virginia Beach! It is a fun & unique experience that is worth checking out! The staff was friendly & made sure you had fun. The ticket prices are $ 18 (good price considering you’re on a boat but a little expensive compared to a bar cover) & includes parking (which is really nice considering the parking situation in VB). Bar prices are comparable to a regular bar. The cruise lasts about 1 ½ hours. FYI: They offer a day cruise for kids as well as a sunset cruise.

Went last night on their adult DJ cruise and had so much fun!!! The view was beautiful, the pirates were hilarious, and we danced all night long!

Good intentions all around but the crew SCREAMS everything. My ears are still tingling. Need to work on the act a bit. I know it’s just a summer job for most but the owner needs invest into making this worthwhile.

Arrrrrrr (I learned that there is no GH in the end… lol) me hearties!!! I have to say that since we have moved out here, I have tried to do a bunch of tourist stuff… the zoo… the aquarium… but, I would have never come across Pirate Jack’s unless my nieces were in town for the week. Of course, Pirate Jack’s was advertised in the tourist book at their rental, so of course we had to go. My sis booked the whole crew, but about an hour before the voyage, they called and cancelled due to a storm a brewin’. Not their fault, but my husband had to leave work early (not so easy in the military), and that also meant not all of the group could attend. They said we could reschedule no problem, but I’m not sure if they refunded the other tickets. The rest of us went the next night, and we were told to arrive at the parking lot 45 minutes early to catch the shuttle, as there is no parking at the dock. Our cars, and a bunch more arrived, and we sat sweltering until the bus showed 30 (yes, 30) minutes late, which could not fit everyone so we got to wait another 15 for them to drop off the lucky ones who got on board first and come back and pick us up. Yay. I guess pirates don’t wear watches. The shuttle was actually a nice drive, by some cute, historic houses, and the boat was darn cute as well… The Lost Pearl. We checked in, and they snap a group pic which they later offer for $ 5. The second the «crew» started yelling into their microphones… and I mean yelling… we knew we were in trouble. We tried moving upstairs, to the back of the boat… everywhere for some reprieve, but it was useless. I know my niece isn’t the only kid who hates being screamed at! I don’t either! The best the adults could do was try to tune out the screaming and focus on the amazing view in every direction. It wasn’t long before we saw pods and pods of dolphins, swimming right beside the ship. Apparently they are curious about boats… who knew? That was by far the highlight of the voyage. More negatives? Sorry, but the website kind of implies that there is food of some kind included… another guest felt the same way about drinks. «I know that being a pirate is hungry work, so there’ll be plenty of snacks on board». The tickets are $ 24 for adults, $ 20 for kids, and $ 22 for active duty military and seniors… throw us a bone. At least include the picture for that price! And, let’s just say that there was enough adult innuendos screamed out to have both a 6 and 8 year old asking «what does that mean»? They do offer a 21+ cruise, so maybe they should save that for the big kids. So… go for the dolphins, wear earplugs, put a snack in your purse, and pre-​grog elsewhere. Me ‘ead ‘urts just thinking about it! I really want to give two stars, but three for the dolphins ;)
