Delightful Digs

Great little gift shop! Nice selection of everything from baby to wedding gifts, beach-​themed items and home décor.

Just love this cram-​packed little shop. They have the most unique gifts and treasures you’ll find in VB. I recently bought Anne Sloan chalk paint. I’m not a furniture refinisher, but the clerk was so helpful and reassuring I went at it with confidence. Great project ended beautifully. I like to buy all my staff Christmas gifts her. The selection is terrific and well priced. The smiles when my staff sees the «Delightful Digs» tag is rewarding and fun.

They sell Anne Sloan chalk paint and are pretty much the only ones in the area that I could find. The staff was extremely helpful. I am going to paint some cabinets and she answered all of my questions and added some helpful tips. When I have more time my wife and I will return to further investigate all the things in the shop.
Ok, I am halfway done with the cabinets. I am only able to do it on weekends and not every weekend. The half that I have completed look great and the chalk paint seems to be much more durable than normal paints. The waxing part is the hardest part. The applying of the wax is relatively easy, but the buffing out part uses a lot of elbow grease if you have 19 cabinets to do and a couple of larger surface areas. So I went out and bought a $ 29 Black & Decker buffer and a bag of T-​shirt rags. The buffing pads work great but they are $ 5 a piece and I need multiple pads. I found that the T-​shirt rags are just as good. I just tied them around the buffer pad. I use the buffing pads for the final high shine buff. I have an old counter top work bench that I am using to paint and wax the doors. I found it better to wax the edges of the doors first but not remove the wax until last. Also since I use a buffer I found that screwing blocks of wood at the top and bottom ends (not on top of) of the doors into my work bench to hold the doors while I buffer them works well.
I am painting the cabinets with the pure white. The kitchen has black appliances so the white offsets that and we painted the hinges black.
Be careful though, my wife is now coming up with ideas of how «we» can paint some older furniture and picture frames to give new life to them and brighten things up around the house. Delightful Digs has several examples of furniture pieces and frames that have been painted with a wide varity of colors.

Another place I forgot to review from my VA Beach vacation. This was such a cute store, I really wanted to buy just about everything there. I settled for buying one large quote frame plus a pink and green to-​do list/​calendar. This is a perfect store for gifts for girl friends, babies/mom’s to be, or a sentimental wedding gift. Next time I’m in VA Beach, I’ll definitely be back.
I hope they get their website up soon, I’d love to be able to buy stuff online.

That’s me, the one wandering around the store for an hour looking at everything multiple times, trying to decide what to buy this time. They have such cute stuff here! Gifts, décor, baby, stationery… it’s all adorable. It’s a fun place to browse for a while and pick up some gifts.
