It’s amazing how we have been living walking distance to this place for a little over 4 years and we have finally made it to dine here. Only because hubby has stated that he isn’t a fan of Indian food. It turns out that he really isn’t a fan of the buffet dining experience. So we tried it for dinner, and he thoroughly enjoyed it! We don’t normally order appetizers, but this time we most definitely did. We started the meal off with the assorted appetizers and naan bread. Here is two words to describe it… absolutely magnificent! ‘Nough said! Our daughter ordered the fish tikka. She was definitely impressed with it. The dish had all the spicy flavors while the yogurt tamed the heat. A definite must try for those who likes the mixture of spices but can’t handle the heat. While I ordered the scallops subz kabi, it had more heat than I could actually handle but it was delish all the same. And well my husband ordered the lamb vindaloo, which is posted as being a very spicy-tangy sauce. And dude! he had them kick the heat up about 4 more stars! I asked him if I could taste it, he told me that he would let me smell it. I did and it made me cry. We will definitely be back in the future, just not sure when.

I love their lunch buffet. Options may change on the buffet daily but I love the variety. Service is great and the lunch buffet price is reasonable. I wouldn’t advise going on a workday bc you may catch the«itis»(look it up if you don’t know what that means) but if you don’t mind the food coma and love authentic Indian food check them out!

Great date night with the hubby! Service was excellent, from drinks to the box for leftovers! Nitesh was very attentive, knowledgeable and pleasant! I’m still new to eating out vegan and gluten free, he explained menu items in detail when we had questions and was extremely knowledgeable & educated about cross contamination & cooking vegan. Billy had the usual chicken tikka masala, and said it was great. I had the Baingan Kale Lazeez(Japanese eggplant with kale, fennel, onion seeds & herbs– delicious!!! He even explained why some menu items may or may not be considered gluten free due to the spice that was used in that certain dish. We had a wonderful night and it was so nice to have someone not feel like it was a problem to prepare a vegan, gluten free dish. We will most certainly be back very soon!!! Thank you Nawab & thank you Nitesh, for making our evening very nice. We will be back soon!

First I have to say I have only been here for the lunch buffet, but oh my, it is good! Nawab is very close to my version of Indian food heaven. My actual favorite is an Indian restaurant that is in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa, so I doubt I will have it there again soon, but Nawab always delivers for me here in Virginia Beach. The restaurant, which is well appointed and welcoming, allows you to have a nice dining experience with cloth napkins and attentive servers, even a glass of wine or beer if you choose, while enjoying the buffet which changes regularly. The smells are amazing and inviting, and even if you aren’t hungry, you will be soon when you enter. I always load up on the naan bread, as many veggie and chicken curries as my plate can muster, a few side plates of their cilantro and raita sauce and then I do it again! The buffet also has chicken tandoori, desserts(you must try the rice pudding — it has cashews and just the right amount of cinnamon in it) and other offerings. The service is also first notch — I never feel rushed, nor like I am eating at an average AYCE. Nawab always offers me a more elegant experience, and for that I am thankful. The price is also very affordable for the copious amounts of food you will eat. $ 9.95 for lunch during the week and only one more dollar for the weekend. Truthfully, I find this to be amazing. I actually want to go back and order off the menu next. This weekend I had the pleasure of being at an event where the chicken biryani was served and it blew my mind. I had no idea a simple rice dish could be that amazing.

Ordered the curry, medium spice level. The meal came with gluten free thin cracker-like flatbread that was tasty, mint chutney that was REALLY good, and some basmati rice. There wasn’t enough curry sauce to mix the rice into, and there were not enough veggies at all. The curry sauce was really, really good though, and service was very quick. It was around $ 22 for my meal during dinner hours off the regular menu.

Had to write a review, it was almost criminal that this place was empty at peak dinner hours. Large portions and very tasty, as much rice as you can eat. The staff was attentive, will be back if Im in the mood for indian.

Cloud like nan I was a bit suspicious of resort style food being a substitute for tastiness so close to the beach. Wrong. The lamb was delicate and the portions generous. The cardamon tea was devine. Steaming hot garlic nan? Just right.

Food tasted very good, it’s now one of my favorite Indian restaurants… Food was little pricey for the quantity. However, people there were really friendly and helpful selecting my meal.

Very good Indian food. I went here for dinner with friends and was very pleased with what I ordered. The Kachumber salad has an interesting aroma to it, but it certainly tastes great. I wanted to order a second plate. The Garlic Naan and Lamb Vindaloo were very satisfying. Definition crank of the heat!

Good food, polite service, nice place. Order wasn’t exactly what we asked for though. We asked one waitress if they had chicken karahi, she said no, the other waitress said they did have it so we ordered it but got something else. It tasted good though so we didn’t mind. Served with a lot of white rice. Also ordered biryani and it was tasty, enough for two full servings and had a high chicken to rice ratio. The complimentary pappar/crackers served at the beginning were okay but could be better. Recommended for good taste and service.

My favorite Indian food in Virginia Beach. My favorite dish is chicken korma and the chicken tikka masala is great too. Love their garlic naan and mango chutney too. Staff is super friendly and accommodating, which is always a plus. Usually call-in and it’s never taken more than 20 min. Love this place!

I have been coming in here several times for the Sunday lunch buffet. Now I’m a hard seller when it comes to buffets, but this is one of the few approved buffet style restaurants that I really enjoy. The service is always warm and inviting, it’s as if you’re being welcomed into their home to taste a the flavors of India. Everytime I came for the buffet the food was fresh and delicious. Something to look forward to each time I have arrived: the chili kabab, the chicken paneer, & the coconut rice desert are a few of my favorites. The décor inside as mentioned in my tip is very vibrant and exciting. I do recommend to make sure that you sit along the wall or at a booth. Sitting in the middle can cause you to get swarmed in people and bumped around as people are rushing to the buffet, but can you blame them?! If you go after 1p.m. the line will get pretty long, but we came right at the sharp hour and didn’t have to wait, but the line grew pretty heavily. So come down to Nawab to travel to India and get a taste of the exotic minutes from the beach all without leaving the city!

Down in Virginia Beach on business in the heart of Winter and not too many restaurants are open. Had Italian, Mexican and then decided to do Indian last night. First I must say that the staff was very helpful and assisted our party with advise on our special dietary needs. The food here was well prepared and I recommend the Biryani also their curry and garlic Naan was delicious. The food was served quickly and the staff keep inquiring if we need anything else. At the end although we ordered desserts they still gave us a complimentary side with a thank you written on the dessert plate. Never seen this before. All in all I recommend this restaurant nor only to locals but to every tourist who crave for Indian food whilst on vacation. Price is right and not expensive plus some of their meats are halal.

Nawab is not the best Indian food in Va Beach, but it’s definitely quality food and better than many local restaurants. Their buffet is affordable, kind of small but always have a great variety and the food is fresh. My girlfriend and I go there often and I’ve tried just about everything, and there’s never been a time where I flat-out dislike an entrée. The Tandoori Chicken is my favorite, and their fish is also great. The rice is also never dried out, which I often hear is a complaint at other buffets. I would recommend this for anyone who wants a nice taste of India without paying a high price.

I hadn’t been to Nawab in about 3 years until a little while ago. I’ll always remember this particular place because it’s where I met my honey’s parents for the first time(3 yrs ago of course.) The food was yummy — very fresh buffet and not bad for $ 9.99 for a Saturday. I do wish that they had more«rows» of food in their buffet. Today, they had three different chicken dishes, one fish, and a few veggie dishes. Basmati rice and naan are a given, both delicious. If I remember correctly, the one in Norfolk(Military Hwy area) is about twice or even three times this size and has that much more of a food selection. This place was nicely decorated and the chairs, comfy. I would come here again over Saffron at town center. Better quality food even though the selection isn’t the biggest.

I came here because they have a lunch buffet on the weekends. I arrived at 2:30 and they made sure that I understood that the buffet would be over and that they would be closing in 30 minutes. Weekend buffet is approximately $ 10 and I was hungry. The food was good but my mind was not blown unfortunately. I appreciated that a server came around asking each table if we wanted the fresh hot naan that had just came out and deposited however many we wanted on on our plates. Glad I didn’t ask how much mango lassi cost. I love it so much and have it so rarely that I’d buy it anyway. But $ 3 for a very slender glass is a bit much. I think it should be served in the same size glass as the soda products for $ 3. I appreciated the servers coming around just before 3pm asking us if we wanted anything before the buffet closed in three hours.

This is my first visit to Nawab at Hilltop. I recently visited(and loved) the one on Military Hwy in Norfolk. As soon as I walked in the door and smelled the aroma of the food — I told my friend — this is going to be great! Inside was neat and clean and decorated nicely. I saw the buffet area and thought — looks small. When I got close and saw the dishes — I knew I was in the right place. Each dish looked delicious and fresh and loaded with the things I like. This kind of buffet looks and tastes healthy — fresh veggies, lean pieces of chicken, sauces that don’t look or taste loaded with fat. — It is pleasing to the eye. Wow!!! What flavors! Everything I tried was so packed with great flavor! There was a dish or 2 that was spicy and I loved them too. I’m not up on the names of these dishes yet — but I’ll learn them. There were 4 of us that met there for lunch(including one vegetarian) We all were of the same mind — the food was awesome and the price was right and the place was cool. The staff was helpful and friendly. I will return. I took a few photos and they are posted on here
