Precision Door Service

Precision did an outstanding job of responding to an emergency request. I own a home and am currently renting it out. When the door broke, Larry (the technician), did an outstanding job and was extremely professional. I will never call anyone else

So, had my door fixed. Needed them to come out and repair my door rather quickly as I was already late for work and didn’t have time to do any research on a good repair shop. Read reviews on google and thought they would be okay. I also called them because several other services were not open yet and they offer 24 hour service, which was a plus. Now, prior to calling them I tried to fix it myself by using Youtube (two days prior) and didn’t follow the video properly. My torsion spring broke and I decided to replace the spring with 2 springs vice one. They came out because my door had come off track after being used. They came out and did explain the $ 65 service fee that was going to be charged as expected. So, they come out and assess the repairs. The associate comes in and explains to me that whoever sold me the springs should never have allowed them to sell them to me. Basically, lets me know that I should not have tried to complete the repairs on this door as it’s dangerous and should only be done by a professional. Makes sense. I didn’t use the proper torsion springs. Technician assesses the door and starts with getting it back on track. Explains the additional fee for «hung door», just to get the door back on track. That was $ 150.00. Okay, got it. Then repairs the door as he notices one of the cables were frayed, so, replaces them. That’s another $ 71.00. After he gets the repairs done and keeps the springs on the door that I had put on the door, shows me how badly the door will work. I get it. I bought the wrong size spring based on the weight of the door. My mistake. Of course the door will work, but, not for long due to the springs being too strong for the weight of that door. Wouldn’t be enough tension in them. So, he goes into a nice «vague» detail as to what else everything else will cost me. Was done rather quickly too. Took less than 2 hours to repair and then go back and replace the springs that I had put on. I do have to give him a star for being quick. Now, they really shouldn’t use the word «Precision» in their name. The technician didn’t use any type of measuring when he did the repairs. He didn’t use a level to make sure the door was level after he completed the repairs. He didn’t measure each side of the bar to ensure the weight would be balanced between each cable and drum, but, since he replaced them, they must’ve been able to compensate for being off an inch or so, I’m sure. He sort of bent the one roller track that had gotten bent from coming off track almost back into place. But, it wasn’t completely straightened back. He did offer me the Lifetime Limited Warranty, which covers the repairs he completed on the door. However, my concern is that the springs/​rollers that he replaced normally call for lubrication annually to extend the life of them. But the warranty will become null/​void if someone other than Precision touches them. So, guess I’ll just let normal wear/​tear happen as I can’t afford a $ 65 service fee just for them to come by to do some preventive maintenance to help prevent me from having my door break sooner than needed. As mentioned from other reviews, they are way too pricey. I did some research and EVERY item they charged me almost 1000% than what I could’ve gotten online. I do realize they need to make a profit and they’re invoice doesn’t have a «Labor» column, so, can understand a markup, just wasn’t expecting a markup of that amount. Of course, I do like how he had me initial the invoice stating I accepted the technicians recommendations and wish to have my door serviced at this time AFTER the work was complete. So, yes it would’ve been nice if I was given a breakdown of what everything was going to cost. I did get a $ 276 discount on the $ 576 lifetime limited warranty, which was nice. However, after looking at other reviews, doing some research, I was charged almost twice as much as what the average cost in the area for repairs on a door in my area.

Precision Door was referred to me by my Home Warranty company. I called and right away the office manager saved me $ 10 from my initial service fee. I will admit, when the technician told me how much it cost, I had to stop a second, but then he explained and showed me the difference in what was installed and what he was installing. I will say after that I was impressed. I was probably moore impressed that he told me he had everything to do the job on the truck, and would be in about an hour. He truly was and I will say that although it was more than I would expected to pay, the technician was polite, courteous and walked me through a lot of what he was doing and showing me the differences. With the lifetime warranty and quick service, I would say that I am indeed happy. Worth the extra and my door is a thousand times more quiet than before.

technician tried to rip me off! precision was recommended by american homeshield (another crappy insurance) technician came by and told me that i need to replace the whole door track and components (springs, bearings and track) what precision garage doesnt know is that i called a compny before that dont take American homeshield insurance and they told me that it will cost me $ 175 bucks for parts and labor replacing the garage door trolley. technician tried to scare me by saying that i will have an accident with the garage door if i just replaced the trolley and continued to convince me to get it fix for $ 650+ i said no and he replied he can temp fix it for $ 146. i agreed but he changed his mind later because he wants to make more money. stay away from this company if you want to save money! they are overpriced and do not care about costumers i am also cancelling my american homeshield insurance its also waste of my money for they dont covee much

Definitely felt incredibly misled by this company. I was searching for a company to repair the rollers on my sliding glass door. The door was in excellent condition, but recently had some difficulty opening the door.
After a technician from Precision came out to evaluate the door, he said there was «absolutely no way to the repair the door» that I would need to replace the door for nearly $ 3,800.
Meanwhile, I called another company and explained the problem and he said he was very familiar with the my door and had repaired several in the neighborhood. This company (NOT Precision) said it would be ONLY $ 135 to repair! Quite a bit cheaper than $ 3,800.
Before the other company came out to fix it, my dad, who is NOT a window repair technician, took a look at the door, determined the back rollers had moved off the track and adjusted the door back on the track for FREE! The door works perfectly fine now!!!
SHAME ON YOU PRECISION FOR TRYING TO CONVINCE ME I NEEDED A NEW $ 3,800 DOOR, WHEN ALL IT NEEDED WAS FOR THE BACK ROLLERS TO BE MOVED BACK ON THE TRACK!!!

Had a new garage door installed with automatic opener and outside key pad. I could not be happier with the price or the service! I will be using this company again in the future.

After spending 450 dollars, I have a door that sticks and have to push the up button several times. After that it works. If you don’t mind that minor inconvenience, then buy the product.

Had this company come out to repair a broken spring. Estimate was a little outrageous. I opted to not use them and pay the service call fee for $ 65. It was painful to pay the service fee since they were here for 5 minutes. Immediately called a second company and was quoted almost half the price with upgraded/​higher torsion springs. I gave two stars only because the people that came to my house were friendly and courteous. Lesson learned.

Faced with a broken garage door I had to find a service provider to make repairs. I saw their ad on a coupon I received in ValPak mailing and decided to give them a try.
The customer service person was very polite and professional. I was offered a same day appointment but elected to wait until the following day. A number of time slots were offered and I selected one for my convenience.
The Technician arrived on schedule and called ahead to give me a heads up. My technician was Nick and he was a true professional in every sense of the word.
After inspection he presented a range of options for repair and or replacement. I selected a course of action that best suited my needs. The work was started immediately and completed within a couple of hours. All parts and materials required for the job were available on Nick’s truck.
I was left with a great job backed by a lifetime guarantee. I was well pleased and would recommend Precision with confidence to anyone. Nick is a fine technician and a great ambassador for his company.

Phones answered ²⁴⁄₇ isn’t something you see from many local companies. Technicians have the parts with them to do the work on the spot so no additional appointments are necessary. Highly recommended

After trying to get another company out here for months, I called Precision and got an appointment within two days. It was a bit strange to schedule it through what seemed like a large operation instead of directly through a small local company.
I received several email and phone communications from Precision before AND after the service. I even received a call on the day of service saying the the tech was running behind schedule, and the tech did not charge us the consult fee because of that, which was nice. The tech, Jeff, was personable and very professional. The cost was less than what I had been quoted from the no-​show company.
We are in Yorktown, VA, so your results may vary I suppose. We will definitely call them again if needed.

Precision installed a new garage door and keypad for my family yesterday. Technicians «Junior» and «Rusty» were on time, professional and thorough throughout the 4 hour visit. They explained everything about my new door, gave me an opportunity to inspect all of their work, and cleaned up after themselves, which I really appreciated. The door looks amazing and works smoothly and quietly. Highly recommend these guys!

We contacted Precision Door of Hampton Roads after many unsuccessful repairs from other garage door companies. We ran across the Precision Door ad in Valpak. From the initial contact, it was obvious the comments about the high-​level of professionalism that we read in other reviews were accurate. The person setting the appointment took the time to understand the issue and scheduled a technician around our schedule (they even offer evening hours). The technician even called once he was getting close to our home. Once onsite, the uniformed technician was able to diagnose and fix our problem (where other companies had failed). The repair was quick as the required parts were on the truck (no need for trips back to the office!). Likewise, the technician reviewed our entire system and was able to provide some guidance on additional maintenance items needed and some suggestions for improving the door system for longevity. Along the way, the technician provided updates on the process and explained why & what he completing. Upon completion, he took the time to explain their no hassle warranty on their work. To top it off, we had lost our Valpak coupon, but the technician called the office and enrolled us for their newsletter and provided the discount provided in the newsletter — hassle free! I called this company because my garage door opener was not working. Five minutes into the visit the technician told me that I needed a new garage door opener and that they would install it for $ 441.00. I told them that I did not have the money then and for that 5 minute visit they charged me a $ 65 «estimate fee.» I never called them again especially because you can get an opener at any home improvement store for $ 150 and they install it for $ 97. I would not recommend this company at all.
