The Royal Chocolate

Smells fantastic when you walk in the door. The staff is very nice and friendly. Chocolate is only ok though. I have been to every chocolate store in NY city and this chocolate does not come close and very expensive.

I always have to make a pit stop at the Royal chocolate when I make a trip to town center. I have a major sweet tooth and have never left this store empty handed! First of all, PLEASE get the frozen hot chocolate. It is so good !! It is very sweet, so I don’t recommend getting it if you don’t have an extreme sweet tooth like me. I also love exploring the endless rows of chocolate bars they offer that come in flavors from ginger dark chocolate to bacon! I particularly like their candied basil dark chocolate which they make in-​house. It is soooo good and is the perfect balance of bitter and sweet.
With the help of a groupon, I was able to sit down and enjoy their fondue. It is great because they offer you different types of chocolate and many dippers to choose from. If you don’t like fruit with chocolate (like me) they offer other options like pretzel sticks and marshmallows!
I also love that they have tasters available at the front, and the staff is so knowledgable about all the sweets in their store and really help you find exactly what you’re looking for. Plus, it is a great place for finding a sweet gift! :)

Amazing chocolate!!! We got the fondue for two ($ 19.95). A huge bowl of melted rich milk chocolate with strawberries, green apple, pound cake, and pretzel sticks. They keep it simple but they do it oh so well. You won’t be disappointed!

Food lovers guide to Virginia recommend this local culinary delight in their book. We agree 100%. The many chocolate goodies made you think, what else can you cover in chocolate. Apples, pretzels, Cookies nuts, marshmallows, are the many selections. I abandoned discrimination to the the back glass cabinet with instructions to the friendly chocolatier to pick one of each till she made one pound.

Breathtaking as soon as you open the door and step into a new world of nothing but chocolate aroma. If you had opened the wrong door by mistake, there is no way you would close it and leave !!!

As you enter you are received by hellos and welcome, and if this is your first visit they will gladly volunteer and give you a tour of the chocolates and the store. As they are quick to answer every question you might have, they are also so happy and friendly and ready to assist you in your selection of purchases. My oh my the choices ??? As they have their delicious chocolate fondues (milk, dark, white Belgian chocolate) to go with various items like bananas, strawberries, apples, dried pineapples, and apricots, graham crackers, vanilla wafers, pretzel sticks, pound cake, and marshmallow. Yummy !!!
Candy Chocolate apples, chocolate twinkies, chocolate Oreos, all kinds of chocolate turtles (pecan, almond) lots and lots of chocolate !!!
To drink you must try the frozen hot chocolate with banana and peanut butter !!! If that’s not your taste there are plenty of other choices.
Available are gift baskets for any occasion as well as special orders for any kind of celebration.
Chocolate covered wine and champagne bottles for weddings and other celebrations !!!
If your still undecided there are free samples for you to try or you can always ask for assistance.

Why have I not reviewed this place yet?!! In a word– PERFECTION! I love this place! There is a little bit of everything for everybody. The choices are infinite and the chocolate is delicious! I am particularly fond of the chocolate covered apples and recently the Chai tea white chocolate bars! I try to get something different every time I visit but I just end up get something new in addition to my current faves. Judge away– I don’t care! Another must try is the fondue. It is absolutely divine! If you happen to be in the Town Center I recommend giving them a try!

Amazing selection of chocolates. Just a great place to go for dessert on a date or even with friends. Bit pricey.

I’ve been here a few times now, always with a gift certificate which I’m very thankful for.
The place is cute — the chairs and tables and fireplace to the right give you a vintage and home-​y feel, and to the left and straight ahead are the wonderful bits of heaven — gourmet chocolate covered apples, strawberries, truffles, chocolate this, chocolate that, chocolate, and MORE chocolate!
The workers are always friendly and helpful — a «hello» when you arrive, «bye/​thank you» when you leave, and great service throughout your stay. We’ve had the fondue here twice — you choose your chocolate (white, milk, or dark) and 4 additional items– you can choose from: strawberries, bananas, apples, pretzels, cubed up pound cake, dried apricot, dried pineapples, graham crackers, & marshmallows! I always wonder why there’s no small candle or flame underneath the chocolate; I’m guessing because it’s a fire hazard, but I never ask. The chocolate stays warm anyway, but you know, for pics sake, you want that flame there.
They have gift bags & baskets for all occasions and holidays. It’s so easy to shop for gifts here, and the never failing gift certificate. You can even have small parties here — perfect for a girl’s day out, bridal or baby shower.
I had an awesome date here the other day– chocolate, fruit, my Boo, AND Mariah Carey playing in the background?! PERF! (Props for their music selection/​station also.)
I am totally a fan of this place; check it out! Come & get some truffles! Get a cookies-​n-​cream, white-​chocolate-​covered apple, get a Frozen Hot Choc drink (Serendipity who?!), get EVERYTHING!

My new favorite spot in Town Center! As soon as you walk in, the fragrant smell of chocolate fills your nostrils. The sight of all that chocolate is overwhelming, but never fear — all of the Royal Chocolate employees are very helpful and will help you if you have any questions. I attended a chocolate tasting there a few months back and it was very fun & informative — you learned about the history of chocolate and the different types of chocolate. (Oh, and did I mention you get to sample the chocolate?)
Will be back in the near future to try out their chocolate fondue (just not this weekend, since it’s Valentine’s Day weekend)

This place is beyond awesome. The smell of chocolate encompasses you as you pass through the threshold.
The service was superb and the young man that waited on us was patient and very pleasant.
I purchased a rocky road apple and got my husband a few surprises (chocolate covered Twinkie and cherries) as well.
We will treat ourselves to this delectable gem of a chocolate shop on a more often than not basis.

Best chocolates I have ever tasted. The after taste is quite delightful too. I just got out of surgery and as a surprise get well soon gift, my Aunt ordered these by phone because she lives out of state. She didn’t know what to expect because pictures can be tricky at times. I didn’t know I was getting them until I heard the doorbell ring and when I received this beautiful blue and silver bag I was so giddy. The packaging is gorgeous and the chocolates pieces are huge. I received a box of different chocolates and gigantic chocolate covered strawberries. It was so tasty. I live right in Town Center and I have never heard of this place before. Now that I know of this place I will be coming here to buy my chocolates for this Christmas and every other occasion. I highly recommend this place!

I absolutely love this place! The chocolate is incredible and the staff is great! I wish the prices weren’t so high but what can you do.

A brief history about myself. I was allergic to chocolate during my younger years. It made me incredibly sick quite often but luckily I grew out of it. But the fact that it made me sick so long ago… didn’t discourage my visit here or make me want to leave this place at all! :D I had the urge to try every sample they had sitting out, tuck the enormous chocolate turkey under my arm like a football and charge the door!
Sadly, I didn’t get to try as much chocolate as I wanted so I have to go back! Yesss!
They have an enormous assortment of chocolate candies made in a dizzying amount of ways that I couldn’t even start to list. If you’re a chocolate fiend, you’ll never leave this place.

As I don’t frequent the frou-​frou parts of Town Center much (lol — I think the place takes itself too seriously, but that’s my opinion), I’ve never much paid attention to any of the shops that I could not see from the street (VB Blvd) while driving past this section.
How sorry I am now that I didn’t Google the shops at Town Center to find the little gem that is The Royal Chocolate. What an adorable little place! It is definitely a true chocolate boutique and they have both chocolate confections that they make in-​house as well as chocolates from around the country and world.
Wanting to try their in-​house stuff, I went for the chocolate covered candy apples (my God, those things are good) and their chocolate covered strawberries… but they have tons more that I have as yet to try.
They have a little area where you may sit and enjoy your chocolate or sip one of their upscale coffee or chocolate drinks (non alcoholic). You may also plan a small birthday party for yourself or your child (6 yrs and up) where guests may make their own chocolate bars… how neat, cute and fun is that? I am 42 and I may do that for myself on my next birthday!
Based on the wonderful service I received from Maripen, I was given an explanation of the different chocolates in the cases, samples to try and information on some of the events The Royal Chocolate offers.
I spent a pretty penny, but am definitely the person who doesn’t mind doing this periodically when I know I will be given something of quality. The Royal Chocolate is «Quality» all the way… what a lovely place!

This place is phenomenal. A must visit place in Town Center. If you’re a chocolate lover, this place is definitely for you. I love everything about this place from the interior to intimate settings and most importantly the sweets display.
The Royal Chocolate caters different types of chocolates from all over the world. The also sell local chocolates formed in different desserts. The sweet display is impecabble, you’ll most likely have an orgasm when you stare at every sweet. Not that they’re visually stunning but they are also incredibly delicious. If you’re visiting in a group or a date the Chocolate Fondue is perfect treat to shared with.
For today’s visit, I ordered the Almond Chocolate Bark, Spicy Tortilla Twist, Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup, and hot chocolate. The sweets were insanely delicious. Its well balanced and the palatable. I enjoyed every bit of it. It was thr perfect dessert after a heavy dinner.
I also must commend the terrific customer service. The staff was knowledgeable and knows exactly how to served their customer. I love the positive spirit of each and every staff. I can say that they’re passionate of what there doing. Its amazing how they interact and engage with the customer.
Perfect dessert and perfect place in a fantastic hospitality. What a treat^_*.

Following our dinner my friend and I decided to try Royal Chocolate for dessert. We were not disappointed.
It’s a posh little boutique that makes the majority of its chocolate items on sight. They also have a counter of other chocolates that come from off site. If ever there was a place you want to get «one of each», this is it.
After drooling over the counters I chose six small pieces. Two amaretto, two vanilla, one tiramisu, and a grand marnier. All of my pieces were dark Belgian chocolate with a filling. I also had a Mayan spicy hot chocolate to drink. The hot chocolate was wonderful, sweet on the front and a delicate spice on the backside.
I really enjoyed my small respite here. It is perfect for an intimate dessert stop or to just have a sweet snack.

My first experience @ The Royal Chocolate was on Valentines Day, 2015. We joined another couple on a «double fondue date». I highly recommend this experience for anyone who is a lover of the chocolate.
T.R.C was offering a fondue package for Valentines Day. $ 15.00 per person included: one type of chocolate, and your choice of 4 sides to dip. (Again double date, double the chocolate with 8 sides!) We ended up with milk and white chocolate!
I liked that you had to make a reservation so that there was no waiting and that they sent you home with 4 pack chocolate box!

I first came here because someone had given me a gift card. I’d never heard of it before that and was surprised that it was next to the Daily Grind. But I came with my gift card and got the peanut butter cups and their truffles. Some time later, I had also received some of their chocolates as a thank-​you gift from a student that I had precepted. From her, I’d gotten a peanut butter cup, some chocolate-​covered popcorn, and one of their chocolate-​covered apples. Everything that we had was consistently good. I enjoyed all of it.
It’s a cute little shop with so many different chocolates to choose from. The people that work there were very friendly and gave us some great suggestions for things to try. Of course, everything is pretty expensive. But it’s gourmet chocolate and I didn’t have to pay for any of it, so it was totally fine with me!
