Established in 1988.

When Dr. Scott Parr opened The Smile Center, he made a commitment to provide the highest quality care in a technologically advanced office that would allow him and his team to offer comfortable, pain-​free treatment to each of his patients. Today Dr. Parr and Dr. Frey continue that tradition by constantly discovering new ways to make dentistry easier for patients like you.

We offer single visit crowns and implants, world class cosmetic results, sedation dentistry to help you completely relax and orthodontic care so you can have all of your dental needs met in one amazing office.

Business Owner

Dr. Parr grew up here in Virginia Beach. After graduating from Cox High School and attending the University of Virginia he went to dental school at MCV in Richmond. Dr. Parr graduated with honors in several areas before returning home to Virginia Beach to open his own dental office in 1989. He has received extensive training in cosmetic and implant dentistry as well as sedation dentistry. Dr. Parr loves helping people have the smile they have always dreamed of having.

Dr. Frey is a native of Virginia Beach. Growing up in this area, she graduated from Cox High School and Old Dominion University before attending dental school at MCV. Dr. Frey graduated from MCV in 1999 and joined Dr. Parr as an associate and became partner in 2004. She has pursued additional training in orthodontics and Invisalign treatment as well as sedation dentistry.

The staff and Dr. Frey and Dr. Parr will treat you like family! Your questions will be answered in a timely manner and you even get a copy of your treatment plan! They are very transparent as well as very detailed about what you need to have done and how much it will cost. My family and I have all been pleased with the cleanings and fillings we have had done! They also have state of the art equipment and are up to date on procedures.

This place is pretty easy to find. It’s right off of Witchduck Road before you get to the interstate ramps if you’re heading toward Virginia Beach Boulevard. When you arrive it seems that the parking may not be adequate; however, I have never had trouble getting a parking space.
Upon entry the receptionist greets you warmly and offers you a smile. The waiting area is very clean and spacious featuring floor to ceiling windows that allow natural light to flood in. There are comfortable groupings of seating and a large saltwater fish tank which contributes to a relaxing atmosphere. Unlike many dental and medical establishments, the television isn’t blaring causing sensory overload. The volume of the television matches the atmosphere of the waiting room which is quiet and relaxing.
If you’re a new patient, someone will take you into a private room where you will fill out your patient forms, financial information, etc. In here you will also be able to discuss your dental health plans and get the information needed for your care. Once the paperwork is completed a hygienist (if you’re getting your teeth cleaned) or a dental assistant will take you back to the patient room to have your procedure (s) done. While you are seated you have the option of watching an overhead television tuned into the channel of your choice. Dr. Frey double checks everything before the patient leaves and the assistant walks you to the front to pay and to schedule a follow-​up or the next cleaning.
Don’t overlook the sugar-​free candy from
on your way out. I didn’t check last time I was in, but they used to have carnations for the patients to take home. In any event, I no longer experience the kind of anxiety I used to experience prior to going to the dentist.

I had my first visit to the dentist in years yesterday. I HATE the dentist. I have memories of pain and drills and sounds that keep me up at night lol… But, the fear of neglect and of course, being toothless drove me to make an appointment. haha!
I chose The Smile Center because of the other reviews I read online, their use of sedation dentistry (lol) and the friendly faces on the website. I also loved the user friendly aspect and patient portal section of their website. The office is very clean and inviting and I was suprised to find that it smelled soooo good. Not exactly what I thought I would find walking into a dentist office. I loved the windows in each room and the televisions above each chair. Some people may not like to see the doctor’s point of view but I thought it was pretty interesting. Clearly it’s been way too long since I was at the dentist, but I have never seen anything like that before.
I’m sure I will still have some anxiety once the work gets started on my next visit in a month, but I feel I made the best decision coming to The Smile Center. I honestly do feel better already, which is saying a lot! Everyone is super friendly and clearly loves working there. That means so much. After the work is done, I will be getting my teeth whitened, which I am very excited about. I want sparkling teeth like everyone at The Smile Center!

I recently had a cosmetic dental procedure done by Dr Parr and it was a wonderful experience. I shopped around for a dental office for some time before deciding on this one, and I am positive I made the best choice. As soon as you walk through the door, the staff immediately makes you feel welcomed and comfortable. I found Dr Parr and Susan Fowler to be exceptionally professional and courteous to my needs. I am extremely happy with the results of their work. I was so pleased with this office that my wife and children are now patients as well.
