I can totally agree with the reviews noting the staff; however, the past couple of times I’ve come in the staff has been completely different(in a good way). My food was good, my smoothie was good, and my service was good. Also, this store has a new look and it’s really nice. It makes you wanna eat there and not just grab and go. I got the king Caesar chicken wrap with faux chicken and I highly recommend to other vegetarians! Great menu for meatless eaters!

When I’m outnumbered 2 – 1 on where we get lunch, I’m sometimes forced to get what I don’t want. Today, I settled for a Thai chicken wrap and Peaches and Silk smoothie at my least favorite TS location. I offered to pick up after we ordered online. I noticed that they have updated inside. They opened the space to make room for more tables and they even have a small kids booth which was being taken advantage of. It’s a nice improvement, but really doesn’t make me think any better of this location. The cleanliness of the servers and the quality of the food and smoothies hasn’t improved. The young man who helped me at the counter today spent most of the time he was helping guests, scratching at his dreads. Please, God, I pray he doesn’t come anywhere near the food prep areas or blenders. Speaking of food, I enjoyed the taste of my smoothie — the part that was actually smoothie. Considering their prices have jumped recently, I was disappointed that mine wasn’t full and contained a good ½ cup of solid ice chunks. My Thai chicken wrap was tasty, but I had asked for the dressing to be on the side and it was slathered in dressing anyway. with a side cup to go with it. I really, really need to argue more for my choice at lunch time. It’s just not worth the cost or the gross-factor!

Like other reviewers have said, the staff here is lacking. I will say that it’s clear they’re understaffed as they have signs on the door and at the counter stating that they’re hiring. However, it wasn’t busy when I went in. My five-year-old daughter even commented that aside from us, there were only two other people sharing a table inside the place. When we walked up to the counter one employee was on the phone and another was standing beside him. While I wouldn’t expect the employee on the phone to say anything to us, I’m not exactly sure why the other employee said nothing. When he got off the phone I placed my order and sat to wait, along with my kids. They love when restaurants have small tables just for kids. When they sat at this one though, there was an opened bag of chips just sitting on the table. I get that the chips were likely left behind by someone’s child but as I said, the place was practically empty so I don’t know why a single employee couldn’t ensure the tables were kept clean. Anyway, as we’re waiting for our smoothies the phone started ringing. The same guy that was on the phone when I walked in said something along the lines of, «I am so done.» You could hear the irritation/frustration in his voice(it’s not like he was whispering). My nine-year-old daughter looked at me like even she knew he needed to work on his food service/customer service skills. We don’t frequent this place often, which I’m thankful for, because this service is definitely lacking. I’ve been to other Tropical Smoothie Cafes that had similar issues, where their staff’s behavior was just unacceptable. I think next time I’ll make my own at home or find somewhere else with better service. It’s too bad because the smoothies are good. Unfortunately the service is not.

Two stars because I like their food. Staff is ridiculously rude. They argued who was going to take my order. Finally a young man came and took my order who obviously was annoyed they were seriously arguing over it. It was not only rude but shows their work ethic isn’t all that either. Because of this I’ll probably never return to this location.

I purchased a smoothie and it tasted fishy. I ended up tossing it after a few sips. The one on Virginia Beach Blvd, across Central Library has fresh tasting smoothies.

My first experience with Tropical Smoothie was back home in Florida, I was glad to find a few in the Virginia Beach area. First off their smoothies are amazing! And the food is really good too and healthy. I recommend trying the Chicken cranberry walnut sandwich.

If you’ve been to one Tropical Smoothie Café, you’ve been to them all. The service wasn’t bad. Not overly friendly, but not horrible either. The establishment was clean and the service fast.

I love Tropical Smoothie. It offers happy hour prices on smoothies during certain times, which makes it even better. Decided to visit this location since I’m right down the street. The staff here is terrible. So rude and they don’t care. Try another Tropical Smoothie location

The smoothie was good, but the staff was… off. Sitting at the bar area while trying to connect my laptop to the wifi, I heard interesting tidbits between the crew members like«I f***ed up this order» and«Are you gonna wash your hands?»

Can’t ever go wrong with TS! But I did notice during my visit/purchase today that prices went up! I want to say by at least a dollar! That’s inflation I guess. Smoothies are still good. I noticed the 2 we purchased today weren’t as sweet as usual, which is good I guess. If you want quick food(wraps, sandwiches, even tacos now) & good smoothies, come here! My favorite smoothie is the Beach Bum with white chocolate v regular chocolate.

Standard tropical smoothie café. Stopped in for a smoothie snack last weekend but when they asked if I wanted sugar or splenda in my smoothie I said neither… they obliged so it wasn’t defeating the purpose of the smoothie in the first place. Tasted fine without either.

Unbeatable price! Got a full meal — sandwich, huge smoothie, and chips for less than $ 11! Only visiting virginia for a short time, but I’m definitely coming back here again.

The food has always been good here. I normally don’t do smoothies too often. This time, I came in to get a salsa sunrise wrap. They did it even with the special order of extra bacon in lieu of ham. This was good as always and will definitely be back. I was the only one in there this morning.

Awesome food and great staff. I usually get the Acai Berry Boost smoothie with no sugar and the Salsa Sunrise Breakfast wrap. No complaints.

Buffalo chicken wrap is the best! With extra buffalo sauce! A beach bum with white chocolate, light on the bananas or a kiwi quencher, add coconut! But, with any of the smoothies here you can’t go wrong! Environment is always clean and staff is very nice! They are pretty speedy as well! All around a good place to grab a semi-healthy meal!

I love TS, I just think they need more people working to speed things up a bit. And they also need a manager that’s over 18. The line at this location is always long. For some reason everytime I’m here it looks like High School just let out… maybe they’re here to give the manager her homework assignment, dunno. My usual is the jamacian jerk wrap and the lean machine. FYI– jamacian jerk has the least amount of fat than any other wrap. Great for picking up a tray for a football party.(Yay!Football Season!) Soups are good too when they have them… they’re always listed but always out.
