This lovely little spot on the banks of the West Fork of the Kickapoo River offers lots of room for tent camping, electrical hookups for campers and even two heated cabins suitable for 2 – 4 to share. There are hot water bathrooms complete with coin operated showers for the Mrs. too! So the campground is a popular home for trout fisherman out to enjoy the wonderful streams in this beautiful part of the state. Roger Widner who ran this place was a first of his kind force for cold-water preservation, restoration and landowner relations in the area. Sadly, he’s recently passed away. If you take advantage of the local recreation resources, you may want to think about and give thanks for his efforts making the area what it is– he’s sorely missed. With Roger’s passing, the West Fork Sportsman’s club had the duties of keeping up and running the campground. Changes are surely in store, I’ll update this review as more is sorted out… In the mean time, Trapper, who lives right in the middle of town(on Trapper Rd) sells firewood and will be up to date on the campground logistics.
