Recently, I returned to Advanced Auto Repair, in Vista, to have my noisy fan belt adjusted and to have my rough idiling engine looked at. Bo told me that the fanbelt he installed is new and it schreeched becauses it is wet in the mornings. He said «Every body’s fan belt makes noise in the morning» Knowing that this is not the case, I took my Nissan to a different mechanic in Vista.
I went to AutoTyme on Melrose Drive in Vista. The owner, Tom, told me the fan belt needed an adjustment as it is not seating on the alternator properly and he replaced 2 leaking vacumn hoses that were making the truck run rough. The truck now runs smoothly and the alternator no longer sounds like an attacking owl!
I’m grateful for Tom and his staff for their expertise and professionalism. The price was very reasonable too.

Autotyme is the best mechanic I’ve found in San Diego County. Tom and his crew are extremely knowledgeable, thorough and will provide an honest analysis and repair recommendation. I’ve lived in San Diego for 25 years and while other shops would rather make a little extra money trying to rip you off, Autotyme values trust, integrity and will go above and beyond to ensure a long term relationship with their customers. I’ve recommended Autotyme to numerous people and each person ends up telling me a story about how some other mechanic lied to them and Autotyme came through with an honest, accurate repair.

Autotyme is AMAZING! I started going to Tom on a recommendation when I moved her about 3 years ago. He always fits me in when I need service or an oil change. He recommended a great place for body work when I got hit in a parking lot. I have always been treated with respect and honesty (during a recall repair at the dealership, I was given a list of things that «needed» to be fixed and he explained each one and why it wasn’t necessary to fix at that time). As a single woman, it’s nice to have a mechanic that I can trust! I wish I could give them more stars!

First auto service place I’ve found that is straight forward and doesn’t try to con you into work you do not need. Took my 08 Tacoma in for a 100K transmission fluid service and have no complaints. Great service. Will be returning!

in 2010, I wrote Tom’s first Unilocal review. He didn’t even know what Unilocal was. Now I’m sure he wishes it didn’t exist. I told him last year that I had reviewed him on Unilocal way back when, and he told me that all his good reviews got filtered out because he won’t buy ads on Unilocal.I went to Unilocal and saw alot of his clients had reviewed the shop since I first wrote. All filtered out except for one shit-​spouting-​anus.
This excellent car shop and one of my fave Thai places have experienced Unilocal filtering out 90% of their reviews, leaving only the negative one/​s. Such blatant extortion. I used to love Unilocal,but the rating quality is so poor as a result of this unethical business practice, I can’t stand using it anymore. Katrina’s Taco shop must pay for ads because their lousy crap food is highly rated on Unilocal.
It just feels like bad karma to support Unilocal when Unilocal has made some of my favorite stores look bad when they’re consistently good. Thai One On is another place suffering from this — check them out, by the courthouse in Vista. Screw Unilocal.GOOGLE REVIEWS here I come.

First of all… Here’s a review. Don’t use Unilocal!I left a very positive/​5 star service for autotyme just last week and Unilocal removed it! I am very upset and have since changed my social-​yellow pages to 4-​square. Don’t believe a darn word that Unilocal recommends! I don’t engage in small business extortion. Unilocal’s sales tactics are coercive, unethical and possible, illegal! Autotyme is exactly where you should bring your vehicles! You are in excellent care with Tom!

watch yourself with this company! they tell you a big story that they will repair your car properly and they don’t. then they refuse to attempt to fix your car and send you to another repair shop. tom mcginn is the owner and all he wants to do is make a lot of money on replacing parts that he doesn’t replace so i am now replacing with another repair shop. tom is good at charging a lot and repairing very little! go somewhere else and save your self a lot of money. i will never go back to this guy for anything!

Tom from Autotyme really helped me out of a pickle. After losing my adapter for the anti-​theft lugs on my wheels and in desperate need of getting new tires mounted I asked several shops for help (even the so-​called pros from the tire shops, can you believe it?). Nobody could (wanted to?) help. Tom took me in right away got those useless lugs out for good, mounted the new tires and also switched the real good, brand new spare wheel tire onto a regular wheel for a more than fair price.
