History
Established in 2014.
We started our company at the request of family, friends and business associates that received our toffee as gifts for holiday, birthdays, and «thank you». Since our first farmer’s market opening in San Diego, we’ve been expanding to include 5 flavors of our Twisted Toffee (the «Original» Twisted Toffee, Navel Orange Zest, Coffee Toffee, Burnt Twisted Toffee and Firehouse Burnt Twisted Toffee), in addition to Peanutty Brittle, Jalapeño-Honey Peanutty Brittle, Peanutty Caramel Corn and NoNutty Caramel Corn. Our brittles and caramel corns have honey (we raise our own bees) instead of corn syrup, which is a favorite of moms with small kids ;-) We now have the head chef, Adam Stuart, at The Compass in Carlsbad, CA using our Firehouse Burnt Twisted Toffee chips in a dessert offering, Butterscotch Budino, and apparently it’s a hit with the locals and visitors alike. I’ve been making our almond toffee for family, friends, co-workers and clients for about 15 years now and at their urging, have opened up ItsyBites’NPieces to our local farmer’s market and events customers. Some folks travel from around the world to visit San Diego and I love to swap candy stories with them!
When the economy took a dive about 8 years ago, and just after I graduated from college and couldn’t find a job in my field, I decided to follow the advice of those who love me and spread the love around with our homemade confections. We’re just over a year old now, but we’re gettin’ the love back… we now have return customers so we started a loyalty program, and we donate 5% of our proceeds to the Rady Children’s Hospital. We’re paying it forward and not looking back… thank you San Diegans and visitors for letting us serve YOU!
