Jazzercise Vista La Mirada

I have been taking Jazzercise classes on and off for the last 20 years, and it was only after attending Miriam Martinez’s class for the first time in February 2010 that I got hooked on this fantastic workout for good. Exercise was always a chore for me, and I found myself easily bored with any activity I tried. I lacked confidence in my athletic abilities, and was feeling frumpy and uninspired. After coming across a coupon on the web, I decided to try it out. My first class with Miriam had me hooked; I could actually keep up and could not ever recall a time when I had more fun exercising. I have completed over 100 classes since then, almost all of them with the owner and lead instructor of Jazzercise La Mirada, Miriam Martinez.
In 60 minutes you get a full-​body workout that includes cardio, strength training and pilates. I love that it is so time efficient, and I can rest assured that with Miriam I am going to get a solid workout and make the most of my time. Miriam is by FAR the best teacher in the area, and we are so fortunate that she offers multiple classes during the week at this new studio. The studio itself is bright and clean, the location is convenient and easy to access, and parking is abundant. Miraim’s workouts are challenging and effective. The choreography in the sets she compiles is streamlined and simple, allowing those of us who are not particularly graceful or coordinated to work out at a greater intensity without the worry of tripping over one’s own feet. It is possible to burn over 600 calories in a single session, all the while enjoying great music and Miriam’s positive words of encouragement peppered with her entertaining stories and infectious personality. The women who comprise this center are as diverse as they are fun-​loving, and there is nothing like spending an hour with them at the end of a long day to erase any of life’s stresses. In my opinion, there is no better or more fun way to spend an hour that I probably would have spent on the couch otherwise. More than that, I have begun to see muscle definition in my arms and legs, and feel stronger at the core than I ever have in my entire life. I no longer worry about gaining weight, since I have made this exercise part of my lifestyle and it is here to stay. Gone are the negative thoughts about looking fat or feeling frumpy, and in their place is a love for the body that has been chiseled away over the course of the last year. My clothes fit me differently, and I carry myself with more poise, confidence and vitality. Not only that, I have met an amazing community of women and have expanded my life in a way I did not think was possible.
