This place should have remained«Chicks», they had the best rotisserie chicken and the best chicken caesar salad. I sure miss it!

Yes! Delicious lamb, subtle but with explosive condiments. High quality fresh guac. good chips. the goat stew was also very good. I plan to goto this place every week forever. Hopefully they will just keep doing exactly what they are doing.

Just what the bf and I needed after a long day out and about. Damn, this spot knows their lamb! They serve habanero/thyme/vinegar pickled onions, lime wedges and cut cilantro with cubed onions on the side and had three sauces to slap on your food. Everything was delicious!

Delicious lamb centric eats. Customer service was efficient and very friendly. Our party of 4 enjoyed 1lb of barbacoa with corn tortilla, guac, broth, rice, cilantro /onions, spicy onion /habanero. 100% delicious. Lamb was tender juicy, utterly flavorful. Guac and chips were legit as they come. Prices were very reasonable. Not a fancy place, great for a family feast!

Their Borrego Barbacoa was amazing. The meat was lean, juicy and tender. We got the ½ order which came with consome(broth based soup which chickpeas and rice). They have retried beans and cactus salad as side orders(you can add to your order) Our plate also came with fresh tortillas. Their orcharta(rice cinnamon drink) was also really good. The service was stellar. I was not sure if I was going to like the meat so I was given a taco at no charge to try it. They went out of their way to accommodate us and made sure we enjoyed our experience there. For two people we spent about $ 30. Parking is available and there is enough seating inside. We went on a Monday for lunch. I heard weekends are really busy.

We’ve passed this place a few times, always packed with people. We finally decided to go in last night and this place is delicious! The service and food were A++. We dont eat lamb a lot but decided to try it considering everyone in there was ordering it. I ordered the rolled tacos with Barbacoa«lamb» and wow! freshly made, the best rolled tacos i’ve ever had. My husband ordered the half order of the lamb to make tacos and he said it was delicious. Their lamb broth is also delicious! We have found our new spot. The ladies in there are so nice and friendly. We highly recommend this place.

This is the real thing. Specializes in lamb. Problem was we are wanna be vegetarians and this was the wrong place for us. Owner helped us out so it turned out okay. Small places but people wait to get in or get it to go.

I found the restaurant to be somewhat charming, but the food was terrible. We ordered carne asada fries and flautas. The fries did not have much carne, which I ok with, but the meat that was on there, was tough, and the fries tasted like they were cooked in dirty oil. The flautas were just longer rolled tacos that had no crunch at all, and the beef inside was way over cooked and chewy. The presentation was nice, with alot of lettuce and queso, but unfortunately the taco itself was terrible. The reason for 2 star instead of 1, was the presentation of the flautas and the salsa was great. Not to mention the server was quite pleasant. I was going to try the main soup special that everyone seems to like, but I am not a fan of lamb. The menu is all in spanish, which fine with me, but if they want to appeal to everyone, they should have english also. I see a great potential here, I just wish the food was better.

LOVE this place! Great food, customer service, and authentic atmosphere. Feels like I’m not in Vista anymore, and that’s sometimes nice. The best carne asada fries by boyfriend and I have ever had!!! So good with the spicy onions! The owner works harder than most and is very kind! Keep up the great work!

Honestly almost walked past this gem because it looked a little busy, but I decided to go with my nose on this one! It smelled so good and Let me tell you I was not disappointed! To my surprise the food didn’t even take long at all. Everyone there was very friendly and the owner made it a point to stop at every table and ask how the food was tasting. The food was freaking amazingggg! I ordered chicken tacos and a nopal burrito. The nopal burritos are super cheap but so big and fulfilling! But the best part of it all is there green salsa! Definitely coming back!

Came to this restaurant with my wife & son, since it was close by and was recommended by the lady at the gas station. BESTCARNEASADAFRIESEVER! Good, quality carne asada, not like those Gilberto/Robertito places. Great mexican restaurant. Great service! Come check it out

We came here on a Sunday around noon and it was packed. There were people waiting outside. Luckily we got in quickly, but if you are coming with a large party be weary not to come during the busiest times otherwise you’ll end up waiting a while for a table. The food is very delicious! We got the Martinez Special… lamb meat, cactus salad, avocado, tortillas, and a delicious soup made with the lamb broth, garbanzo beans, and rice. The food is unique in that they serve things you otherwise may not find at your usual Mexican restaurant around the area. They have house-made tamarindo, horchata, and other fresh juices. The salsas are excellent and the tortillas are fresh(if you go M-F, they make them in house). Definitely worth the wait and cost(although I wouldn’t classify it as «cheap» it is reasonably priced considering that it’s very delicious)!

I was pretty skeptical coming to this hole in the wall in Vista. However Texcoco blew me away. My lady ordered Martinez special which was delicious. I had the lamb burrito which was equally good. Get a side of broth with your order, as well as a calamato and you won’t be disappointed.

This is truly a little hidden gem in the city of Vista! The food is quality you can taste. Meats are all well marinated. Mostly everything is made from scratch. Good authentic Mexican food. I highly recommend this place.

My wife’s aunt found this place on Unilocal because of the current 4.5 star review. I am not a fan quite as much as most of the reviews, but our group of 10 seemed to like it overall. It is a simple mexican restaurant that specializes in lamb, which I recommend getting to share with 2 – 3 people. I am not a huge meat eater, but I enjoyed the barbacoa burrito for $ 6.99. It is very filling, but doesn’t have any rice and beans on the side, just a bit of shredded lettuce. The tacos, burritos mostly seem to be very simple, so the sauces, onions and cilantro add some flavor. Beware of the marinated onions, they are quite spicy! I probably don’t appreciate the authenticity of it and miss more of the veggies and rice/beans and toppings. Multiple people in the group loved the horchata also. They seemed to be short staffed, so beware you will probably be in for a slow meal if the restaurant is full. If you are in the mood for lamb though then definitely give Vamos a try!

If you love lamb– barbocoa– that is their specialty! They also have amazing horchata(cinnamon and rice milk drink) and really good guacamole. The food itself is very simple and doesn’t have much for sides, but they provide several hot sauces and cilantro, and hot picked peppers/onion so you can flavor it up. You can get a whole bunch of lamb meat and tortillas and share family style. The rolled tacos came with a ton of crema fresca on top which ended up being distributed around the table to make the tacos and burritos mare exciting.
