History
Established in 2009.
The Union was built in 1880 as the Union Boarding House and Billiards Hall. Through the years it has been operated as a business, a private home and for some time abandoned. In 1999, the David/Burney Family purchased the building and renovated the upstairs to house four luxury guest rooms. B & E Hospitality reopened the property in late 2009 after renovating the kitchen to modern standards.
The current ownership were prior owners of the St. George Hotel, just around the corner (1997 — 2003). After being gone from Volcano for 6 years the lure of the Union, a place of good times and happy memories, brought them back.
Meet the Business Owner
Mark and Tracey B.
Business Owner
Mark and Tracey came to Volcano in 1997 when they purchased the St. George Hotel. After selling the St. George in 2003 they opened Taste Restaurant in Plymouth in 2006.
They reside in Volcano and always cherished fun memories at the Union. So when a realtor approached them about purchasing the Union they threw caution to the wind and made it happen. The wind has been blowing in the right direction ever since.
You can find Mark bouncing back and forth between Taste and the Union on the weekends and teaching in the Culinary Arts department at Delta College in Stockton during the week. Tracey also does «the bounce» all week long in addition to being the past President and co-founder of the Amador Council of Tourism. With their dedicated staff the Union is a hit!
