This place is like having a BBQ with pic nic tables, throw away plates and utensils! Great food for a great price! Country music playing and they even have a lil store to purchase their famous BBQ sauce, come on down!

Do not live in Waco, but while visiting We always try to schedule a Rudy’s visit. We were in town for a Baseball tournament and basically ordered every meat on the menu to go and everything was exceptional once again.

Briskets and brews and smoked baked potatoes, oh my! The Shangri-La of Texas BBQ joints, this Rudy’s features a drive thru, gas station, and a huge dining hall. Meat is buy by the pound, and most of the seating is picnic tables or family style. The ribs are my fave although there is not a bad dish or meat in the place. Even the cole slaw is tasty and not drowning! Rudys all have their own«character.» The Waco edition has bikers and barristers and Baylor students rubbing elbows at the checkered clothed picnic tables. Always a treat to eat!

The prices were too high for me to eat there everyday, but the chicken, three bean salad, and BBQ sauce were all worth going back for! Atmosphere was good too.

Stopped by about 8:45pm on Thursday night and it was alright. We are from Austin and are used to the Rudy’s out there, so we were excited to see pulled pork on the menu! We placed our order, and although there were only a few people in the restaurant, it took a long time to finally get our food. The employees were friendly and the restaurant was clean, but overall we were pretty disappointed. We ordered a few pulled pork sandwiches, cream corn, a sausage link and banana pudding. The corn was very runny, almost to the point of being a thin soup consistency, and it definitely messed with the flavor. The pickles were weirdly dry and tasted odd, the pulled pork was dry, and the bread was hard and tasted stale. Definitely not impressed and will probably not be back unless to buy more sissy sauce.

I loved everything about this place! The food was great, the people were very friendly and they all seem to love their jobs. I will absolutely go back.

I can’t believe this is connected to a gas station, and that someone had bad food. Our pork and brisket was amazing! It was a huge place so bring the gang. The place is totally casual, order at the counter and bring your food to one of the large tables on a tray. Load up on some hot peppers and pickles at the condiment bar and you are good to go. It is very near the Baylor stadium and there happened to be a game going on while we were there, so the many tvs were a bonus!

Extremely disappointed as to the change in quality of the bbq. I am a customer of Rudys and will visit locations from Leon Springs to Allen TX. This last time I ordered 6 ribs and all were taken from the small side of the rib. Most reputable bbq restaurants will cut this off and either not sell it or just give it away without weighing. The ribs have also completely lost their smoke flavor; instead they were equivalent to a stewed rib. The meat drops off the bone and there is absolutely no flavor, it tastes like boiled meat. Because I ordered to go and headed back to Dallas, I never had a chance to voice my concerns. This place used to be known for their spare ribs and brisket; I hope this is just a localized incident.

I love Rudy’s… And now you/I have one more reason: Prime Rib! That’s right… Apparently every Fri-Sun they smoke a big prime and slice it off by the ½ pound. I see it and am instantly in! I get the smoked prime rib with a Shiner for a snack and dig in. The meat isn’t as tender as I thought it would be(or smokey?) but it’s pretty tasty. They have two BBQ sauces on the table(one that’s for sissy’s). They both aren’t my favorite(too vinegar-based). The prime and Shiner slide down super smooth though, so I leave happy with my $ 14 investment. See you next time Rudy’s… Maybe some shrimp on the BBQ next time? Here’s the rundown: Satisfied? Yes Return? Yes Advocate? Yes

The food here was very nice, we picked up a brisket that had been prepared for later that night. their customer service was very good, they had the food prepared and hot for us. The taste and texture of the meat was amazing!

Nothing better than Rudy’s. Fantastic service, the best of BBQ… I love their potato salad and banana pudding. They have amazing brisket and turkey – their sauces are perfectly spiced. Can’t recommend anything better than Rudy’s!

We’ve been coming to Rudy’s for about a decade now. We obviously like the place but I will try to be specific about what we like since I personally don’t get much from a review that reads«best I ever had». PROS 1) Chopped Beef BBQ – at $ 4.99(currently) for ½lb you can make a lot of chopped beef sandwiches with this flavorful, slightly greasy treasure! Best bet if you’re on a budget. 2) Pork Ribs – a little pricey at 3 ribs for $ 6.19 for ½ lb, but the light Oakwood smoke and peppery bark do not overwhelm the divine juicy pork rib. They are not fall off the bone or mushy, but very tender and moist. 3) Brisket – you get to pick your preference of lean or moist, or let the cutter decide(prices vary). The bark is very tasty. Ask for an end cut if you want more of it. The lean is toothier like a like a sirloin, moist like a ribeye. 4) Prime Rib – used to be you could only get a smoked Prime Rib in Bennigans. Very mild smoke, tender and served medium. Hardly any bark for a deli Roast Beef taste just toothier. However, I still prefer Schoepf’s in Temple. 5) You can ask for wheat or white bread. Don’t be shy, they will give you a very generous amount if you can eat it. 6) Condiment bar. The onions are sweet. And if the jalapenos are too fiesty, the carrots are kinder. 9) The dining room feels like you are eating at a cool Texas chic indoor picnic. You can gussy up and eat dainty. Or drop your pretense and devour your pile like a carnivore. Either way you fit right in. I love it when they raise the garage door style outside window-walls during mild weather! CONS a) The noise. It gets pretty noisy because a lot of people come here! But, it is therefore very toddler and infant friendly. b) The sause is a bit too sweet for my liking. I mix the Rudy’s original with vinegar from the condiment bar to cut it. Do not drown the meat in any sause until you have tasted it first! c) No Unilocal promotion. But I don’t blame ‘em. They already struggle with crowd control as it is.

Really good brisket. Also enjoyed their chocolate pudding cups. Pulled pork was so-so, as was their BBQ sauce. Overall pretty happy with my Rudy’s experience and will probably be back during my time in Central Texas.

Rudy is obviously an extremely popular place for bbq. We came during the dinner rush, yet they were able to move all the customers through the line pretty quickly. The prices are a little expensive. You can either order by a half pound or a full pound. I ordered half a pound of moist brisket, half a pound of prime rib(only available Friday — Sunday), a full pound of baby back ribs, a full pound of sausage, and a small pint of cream corn. Overall, the things that stood out the most to me was cream corn and moist brisket. The prime rib was a little dry and tasteless. They charge price by the pound, and we basically ending up paying for(¼) of beef fat. It isn’t anything that glamorous. The sausage skin was so hard and tough to chew through and the meat was not juicy all. The moist brisket was so worth it as the meet literally melted in my mouth. Usually whenever my family goes out we do not order sides. But we just ordered the cream corn on a whim. And boy was that a great decision. I loved the cream corn. You can get other sides such an onions, pickles, jalapeños and carrots along with your utensils and napkins next to the soda machines. Rudy’s is pretty good for a chain bbq restaurant. I will be returning.

I had heard so much about this place and when I saw it on the highway, I knew I had to make a pit stop. Two things: 1) drive thru at a 2) gas station. I gave myself a couple of minutes to be confused and self-debate on whether this place was going to actually be good, but I’m glad I stayed. I ordered a side of cream corn and the brisket sandwich. That cream corn is actually like crack! OMGAH, what do they put in it?! You’re weird if you aren’t jumping up and down like a maniac to order it. The brisket sandwich was a little mehhh for my tasting. I think it could’ve been a little less dry, but I later found out that I needed to have ordered it «moist». I wasn’t a fan of the pickles – they tasted a little heavy on the vinegar, but I’m sure there are lots of people who love them. I’ll be stopping at the other locations in Austin!

I’ve never been a fan of gas station food but this place has changed my opinion! It was so crowded but there was a bus tour so that was most of the crowd! I had a baked potato with brisket and it was so good! I was doubled charged but price correction was a breeze! I’ll definitely be back next time I am craving a potato!

Rudy’s is the BEST bbq in Texas! The beef brisket is well seasoned and cooked. You can selected sizes starting at half pound, but have it served a number of ways. The baked potato option is a great way to go. You get a fully loaded baked potato with sour cream, cheese, butter and your choice of meat. Sides include coleslaw, baked beans and white bread. Want authentic BBQ that is the best Texas has to offer? Then you want Rudy’s!

My daughter and I always get the extra-moist brisket. I really enjoy their chopped beef and pulled pork also. The beans are good, a lot of choices for sides: sweet cream corn, potato salad, and banana pudding. You can get sandwiches or just the meat itself. They also have a good selection of drinks, with bottled root beer cream soda and other beer sitting in ice that you can grab while waiting in line.

The first time I had Rudy’s was in Arlington and I was not impressed. Today we came to this location after coming back from one of our warehouse and I must say it was delish! I had the brisket sandwich and Potatoe Salad which that was ok. I love the spicy bbq sauce and condiments they had.
