Tai Vw & Audi

Thomas was amazing. He took and did a maintenance our S4. Was thorough. I LOVE he focuses on only ONE car a day. Or 2 if they are shorter jobs. We took it in again for a hose replacement on coolant and transmission flush. Again we had the appointment for the day. Dropped off at 9 got a call by 2:30ish for pick up. Priced great! (he works on Audis and WV-​be ready to shell out money either way) he is our go to Audi man!!! Hands down the best!!!

I went to see Thomas this weekend to get Revo Stage 2 Tune in my GTI. Thomas is usually closed on the weekends, but since that was the only time that worked for me he made sure to be available. So we met up at his shop and I had heard good things about him from fellow VW guys and Unilocal and I have to say I had pretty high expectations and was not disappointed. He went right to work flashing the car, but explained what he was doing every step of the way. I had just had my buddy install the downpipe to support the tune, he missed a bolt but Thomas caught it and took care of the issue for me at no charge. Thomas also told me I was going to need new coilpacks, at first I brushed it off as him trying to upsell me but after talking to some friends my buddy had a new set he gave me for a steal. I had not got around to installing them yet, but sure enough on my way to work today the car had 2 misfires just like Thomas told me it would with the tune. I’ll be putting my new coilpacks in tonight, but bottom line is Thomas knows his stuff and he is a straight shooter all the way. A+ for this guy and will def be back!

Tom was great. I was in a bind as my car had been running bad for a while time fixed it in 20 minutes and didn’t rape my pocketbook. I would recommend him to anyone with a dub.

The best VW mechanic on the island. The dealerships can’t even compare to this guy. He’s very detailed so that you don’t have to come back for any reason. The last thing on everyone’s mind is to return for repairs that should have been done the first time around.

Thomas lives up to his reputation of being the best, nicest business owner and also excellent in his profession. I feel lucky to find someone like this, I know my car will be in good hands.

My boyfriend thought I was crazy for taking off work and driving all the way from town to Wahiawa to get my car fixed based on only like 28 5-​Star Unilocal Reviews. I admit, it did seem a little nuts, but I always trust Unilocal and it delivered yet again with TAI VW & Audi.
I really appreciated Thomas and the service he gave me for my VW. At WrenchWerks in town, I was charged left and right for diagnosing my problems and quoted a very high estimate for repairs once diagnosed. With Thomas, the quote given on the phone was exactly around what I ended up paying– which was hundreds less than what WrenchWerks had quoted me for the same issues.
While I waited to have my car fixed, Thomas was very nice and answered all my questions that I had. He explained the issues I was having with my car in terms that anyone could understand. Even though he was dumbing it down for me to understand, I never once felt dumb. I was so happy to get a real sense of what exactly was going on with my car and what I actually pay for in terms of repair. He even showed me my old rusted original parts that needed replacing. He also gave me quotes for further repairs, like my brakes. The quotes were very fair.
Thomas was also kind enough to fix my trunk door while I was there, which was stuck closed and hadn’t opened for me for months. I guess it just took a mechanic’s touch! He even was going to help me replace my wipers but I didn’t have the correct ones so he wasn’t able to.
The service was way above and beyond what I was expecting– especially as a young woman going alone to get her car fixed. Thomas is a very helpful and trustworthy mechanic, which I think it is a rarity in today’s world. I’ll surely be a customer here as long as I have my VW!

Have been a loyal customer for few years, one hell of a Audi/​vw mechanic bar none, but loyalty in return not reciprocal, too busy to help a loyal customer. I run a small business myself and no matter how busy I may be I will always make time for my clients. This particular former customer will be definitely going elsewhere.

This is a mechanic I highly recommend. He tells and shows you what he’s gonna do to the car and he definitely gets the job done. I will stick with this guy as long as I have my bug or any other vw. Also he’s very busy, so can’t waste too much of his time

I have been taking my A4 to Thomas for the last 3.5 years. He is a knowledgeable mechanic and honest guy. The price for service is much more affordable than going to the dealership. Make sure you call ahead of time because he books up fast.

It’s not surprising this guy has 5 stars. Tom kicks ass, he replaced my motor mounts and the water pump and the tensioners and other stuff in a day! He’s the only guy on the island I would entrust the care of my Audi to. Be on time to the appointments though, this guy is BUSY, but also very accommodating. He’s honest, it’s just the way he is.

Took my A3 in for the 75,000 tune-​up/​well baby check. As expected I was looking at a timing belt change, oil, filters, etc. To breath a little new life, and fun, into my aging car I also included the addition of a REVO performance chip. This was all scheduled over the phone with Thomas, as it is a bit of a drive to his shop.
On arriving Thomas showed me all the parts he was going to be using, the specific manufactuer, and how they were quality replacements. From this exchange it was obvious Thomas wanted me to feel comfortable with both him andd his work.
The job took the better part of the day, and on my return Thomas again showed me the old parts, and highlighted some areas of future interest. Not things needed urgently, just on the next oil change. No hard sell, just conveying reasonable maintenance considerations in the future.
Thomas also gave me an overview of the new chip and what I can expect from my «new car». He was very enthusiastic about it (even called me back the next morning to get my first impression — which is positive!).
All this for what I think was a very reasonable price. I even had to PUSH him to change some parts he thought I could get covered under warrantee (but it was easier for me to just pay and have him do it while there).
In short: Tai VW/​Thomas is now my trusted mechanic for my A3

If you can make the trip up to Wahiawa, Tai VW & Audi is the best place to go. Tom is a great guy and gives it to you like it is. What he lacks in personality (hahahah…lol, JK… Tom is great!) he makes up for in knowledge, experience & price. He has serviced all of my boyfriend’s VWs & Audis…

Never ever has he fixed something just for something else to go wrong 2 days later.
He guarantees all of his work and he shoots straight from the hip. He will give his honest opinion even if it costs him the work.
We even use him to check out cars before we buy them. We trust him that much!

People like Thomas are refreshing and though more plentiful in Hawaii are still in too short of supply in the world. Honest, dependable, considerate — those aren’t words you normally associate with mechanics — but you can with Thomas. He fixed my vehicle sooner than promised and was spot on with his quote. He immediately knew the issue and fixed it for the price the dealer wanted to continue their assessment of the issue (Insane right?). Go to Thomas, sleep well at night knowing you are in good hands and are supporting local expertise.

He has the gizmos to read your cars brain unlike the other place I go for Audi and VW service. The cost is under dealer prices and excellent on time service. Thomas is very knowledgeable. I appreciate having an honest shop to get my car taken care of.

Once again Thomas was great and fast! I made an appointment cause my car was overheating. I pulled in and first thing he does is check the hoses running to my radiator. Right away, he knew it was my thermostat. Instead of taking off all these parts he has a trick to get to the thermolstat in like 2 minutes.

Still 5 stars, but needed to explain why Thomas is the best.
I am a middle aged mom. My car is my medium sized purse. (My house would be the big purse!) I try to take care of it, but it is honestly just a thing that gets me from place to place as I go through my day.
That said, my boring family sedan is also a race car in disguise. I drive a 2006 Passat. We brought it home with just 3 miles on the odometer, and we were lucky enough to live in Germany for the first year of its existence. I’m happy to report that the Autobahn is everything you’ve ever heard it can be, and my top (maintained) speed in my car is 150 miles per hour. I love driving my car.
Thomas only works on VWs and Audis. He is a race car mechanic at heart, and the majority of the cars he works on are driven by young men who dream of taking their cars to the limit. I see them picking their cars up, and I see their cars as I drop mine off, and I know that I’m not one of them, but I never feel out of place.
I am not his typical customer. I was referred to him by my younger brother, who fit the «type» much better. I have never, ever felt that I was anything less than Thomas’ most important customer. I feel comfortable handing him my keys and letting him do what needs to be done, knowing that he will do his best to keep me safe and HAPPY.
His work ethic is above and beyond, and he always takes the time to show what was wrong and explain what was done to fix any problems. I appreciate the time he takes and always drive away feeling that he has provided the best service possible for the reasonable rate he charges.
