Aloha Events

Went to a wedding and it was catered by Aloha Events Catering. They set up in the bridal suite of Sugarman Estate and did all the cooking on site. They made the suite smell like food and grease. All our garment bags smelled after the event.
The appetizers came out and was barely enough to feed the crowd. I think I saw maybe 6 – 8 platters total for 70−80ish guests. They served potstickers. Which were ok. They had fish sauce to dip them in, which didn’t work well because it wouldn’t soak into the shell of the potsticker. I mean as an hors d’œuvre I think you should consider things dripping on people while they dip and walk and the flavors soaking into the actual appetizer. The coconut shrimp I never even saw. The ahi tuna was a little bland. I thought it needed more tuna on the cracker. Only 1 – 2 people served the appetizers and I felt it was lacking for the amount of guests. Maybe they should consider placing the hors d’œuvre on a table and then serving some of the platters so that people know where to find them and we know all the food that is being served. I felt like the bride and the groom paid for unlimited amounts but didn’t see what was actually passed out. I don’t think they even saved any of the small bites for the bride and the groom.
As for the food for the actual wedding. The salad, bread, and Mac salad are as you expect. The Mahi Mahi with the salsa was a little dry. The pork was juicy and moist and probably the best dish of the night. The fried rice was also good. I felt like when we were going through the line they were being pretty skimpy with portion size. It’s a buffet style. Might’ve been better to allow the guests to serve themselves. Anyway, there was a lot of food left. And some people had to flag them down for seconds because they were putting away the trays full of food without announcing it was ok for seconds and not giving guests a warning for last call. Where did all the prepared food go?! Especially if it was suppose to be all you can eat buffet?!
I felt like this company really tries to skimp you on things. Items already paid should be set out for guests to enjoy. Especially all the cooked food. Why did guests have to flag you down because you were already cleaning up before serving anyone seconds? They said because of Maui law, they can’t pack food to go. What a weird rule. So apparently all the food was trashed afterwards. Or taken home by the catering company themselves. I guess we’ll never know. They never responded to the bride and grooms inquiries. They just got the business, did a shady job and then disappeared. How convenient. I didn’t even pay for any of this and I’m pissed for the people who did. I was at the event as a guest and can say. Appetizers were sparse… Make sure they tell you how many platters you’ll get of each appetizer and then make sure they come out! Also make sure they announce to guests when they’ll take away food before they pack and «throw» things away. Make sure you get what you paid for. Have a family member make sure of it when you’re busy with your big day.

Simply superb! I didn’t have a worry in the world knowing our wedding food was in the best of hands. The meal wow’ed all of our guests — I’m still getting compliments!

Beautiful set up for a Maui wedding! Great wait staff and awesome food! The Raw Bar was soooo good, ceviche, prawns and so much more, Yummm. Their wonderful selection of tasty appetizers and entrées were delicious! I would highly recommend Aloha Event Catering for any event. They truly work in the Aloha Spirit.

Attended a wedding in Lahaina. The food was catered by Aloha. The food was amazing. I am very particular about food and what was served definitely deserves 5+ stars. Michelle’s staff were very friendly and professional. For those that don’t get the opportunity to visit Hawaii, the staff provided insight to the Hawaiian culture and history of the islands.
Truly an amazing event topped off by the cuisine.

Where do I begin with this review, first off Michelle is a GEM… she was like a best friend always there for you. My fiancée and I had a rough time with a few vendors and Michelle was able to clean it all up and we are SO thankful things worked out the way they did because this day was PERFECT with her in it! She did not miss a beat and she was always there if we needed her, I miss her already!
The food was raved about for days, we chose the Filet and sweet onion mashed potatoes and the fresh macadamia nut encrusted fish with the yummy purple mashed potatoes with wok fired vegetables! SO good! They even made little mini French macaroon’s to go along with our cake! Everything was perfect!
At the end of the evening Michelle cleaned everything up for us so we didn’t even have to think about it, she took care of all our vendors and even had a back up plan for the unexpected rain… I could go on for days about how amazing Michelle and the whole staff at Aloha Events is.
For someone planning a wedding near or far choose Aloha Events, their food is AMAZING and is not your typical «wedding» food, the staff is top notch and the professionalism throughout the whole process was above and beyond!

We used Aloha events for our wedding and I’m so glad we did. Michelle was so sweet and communicated well. All our choices were made based on pictures and the website, and we couldn’t be happier with how it all turned out. The food was awesome, all our guests said it was some of the best food they’d ever had. The bartender/​servers were so sweet, accommodating, and efficient. Michelle was flexible and made some last minute changes as our guest count changed.
If you are having a destination wedding on Maui and are worried about the catering, use Aloha Events and put your mind at ease– they take care of everything so you can enjoy your event.

Amazing caterers! Working with Michelle was so easy and she was very professional. My husband and I had the pleasure of meeting with them a couple times before our wedding. Once to do a tasting and second time to fin tune details. The food was delicious and their signature drinks, 4 season Mia Tai and Pineapple Ginger Mojitos were a hit. The bartenders were were fun and very accommodating to our 88 guests. Everyone did a fantastic job and I couldn’t be happier.

The most important factor for me at our wedding was the food and I am thankful that we chose Aloha events because one month later our guests are still talking about how wonderful the food was.
Michelle with Aloha catering was extremely helpful especially when we were planning a wedding from afar and weren’t able to taste the food.
Our appetizers were the coconut shrimp, spring rolls, crab lettuce cups which were a huge hit. They also offered signature cocktails (we chose from a list they provided) which on a hot afternoon day was refreshing and much needed.
Dinner was absolutely amazing. My biggest concern was that the fish would be tough and not tasty. The fish was TENDER and extremely tasty! The ahi poke (which was a must for me) was fantastic! It is a must-​have!
We also ordered dessert (separate from our wedding cake) and it was another hit with the guests.
The staff were friendly and helpful. They made sure we (the bride and groom) were well taken care of.
You won’t regret it because they cater to all of your food needs. My husband is a vegan and we also had lots of vegetarians in attendance and Aloha Events were able to make a lovely tofu vegetable vegan dish.

We couldn’t be happier with Aloha Events Catering! Choosing a caterer for our wedding was risky because we aren’t local so we couldn’t sample any food. We chose solely on food options, photos, and Unilocal reviews. They have a fantastic variety of foods to choose from and they are all presented beautifully. And as luck would have it, they were DELICIOUS as well. And I’ll admit, I’m a bit of a food snob. ;)
They were also wonderfully flexible. We changed our minds on a few things here and there, made a special request for a water station, and asked to reduce the number of bartenders, and everything came back as no problem. We worked with them through our coordinator, but the process was so smooth.
For appetizers, we had the chicken lollipops, coconut shrimp, and cucumber wheels, all of which exceeded expectations in both taste and presentation. The kula salad was simple, nothing to rave about there, but it was good. Their filet mignon melted in my mouth. I also heard great things from the guests about the macadamia crusted fish and their signature vegetarian option.
The staff was LOVELY. Everyone was so polite and friendly. When I came out in my red dress (Chinese tradition), before I reached the reception tent, the staff (who were all standing by a tree), just started applauding with big smiles and told me how beautiful I looked. A bride can never hear that too many times. ;) I appreciated how personal they were. Towards the end of the night, Michelle came out to meet us and we thanked her profusely for the wonderful food and incredible staff.
Oh — and their bartender was fantastic too. I didn’t drink that night but I heard she was generous with the alcohol. Which is likely why dancing later that night was as fun as it turned out to be.
Of the hundreds of decisions we made for our wedding, choosing Aloha Events Catering was one of the best ones. We were so happy because it was a risk and serving quality food to our guests was a big priority for us. Highly recommend!

Aloha Events Catering made our wedding a beautiful and delicious success. The catering staff arrived on time, were very accommodating of each request, extremely professional and the food was delicious.
In the planning stage, Michelle Martinez was a fantastic! We really appreciated her straightforward answers, quick e-​mail replies and helpful hints of how to go about coordinating the wedding.
Our on-​site manager Aileene was courteous, polite and very efficient in getting things organized. Overall, from start to finish these guys were the best vendor I have worked with in coordinating all the wedding plans.
As far as the food? Chef Belia prepared beautiful and delicious food and took the time to speak to us and was very thoughtful to place some of each appetizer on our sweetheart table since we were busy doing photos during the passed apps. Our guests were very impressed with both the quality of the food and the incredible service that the caterers provided. The bartender (Gwen) was a pro and kept the drinks coming! She even made us pitchers so we won’t get thirsty after she was done working for the evening.
Bottom line: Aloha Events Catering are an extremely dependable and professional team and provide an outstanding service!

Michelle and the team were fantastic! Michelle has a high attention to detail and was extremely easy to work with in planning the catering for our Sept 28^th wedding day. Michelle was extremely responsive to emails and providing advice. Everything turned out exactly as planned and it was smooth sailing for us come the day of the wedding. I’m honored to be able to give Aloha Events their first Unilocal review! Simply put, this team has their sh*t together. I hired Aloha Events to cater my 50+ person rehearsal dinner and wedding, both of which took place at a private estate (think: house kitchen, not restaurant kitchen). Note that I was based on the mainland and didn’t have the opportunity to do a tasting or meet anyone in person before engaging them. Here are a few reasons why they got my business:
1 — Prompt and clear communication. I can’t emphasize how much of a difference this makes.
2 — Great looking menu
3 — Great reviews
4 — Very straightforward pricing
Regarding pricing — I really appreciate the ‘all-​in’ style of pricing, rather than the menus where it’s clearly pointed out that X number of macadamia shrimp for X number of guests equals X dollars out of my pocket. Aloha Events just tells me what the party is going to cost and they were willing to work with me to help me save a few dollars here and there. I also appreciate the few instance where Michelle put her foot down because she wasn’t willing to compromise the guests experience. For example, I asked if we really needed things like bread or coffee, and she just acted like it was all part of the package and said that yes, the guests enjoy these things. Basically, I’m really glad that I don’t know the itemized amount for those details, and I’m really glad we had them.
Michelle is the behind-​the-​scenes powerhouse at Aloha Events HQ. I never actually met her, even though she’s almost the entire reason I hired the team. In addition to managing the elements her team was in charge of, she took the extra step to review my order with other vendors (mainly equipment) and made sure no key pieces (an extra table for the bar, linen napkins) were missing. Without her checking on this, we would have been using paper towels. And, let me point out that she didn’t ask me if I had ordered them, she told me that I hadn’t. There’s a difference; she did the work for me.
On the days of the events the on-​site staff ran a flawless show. I showed them where the kitchen was, what space they could use without being in the way, and they took it from there. Delicious and beautiful food was delivered hot exactly when they said it would be. I think there were some extras on the table too. (Did I order poke? I don’t know, but it was yummy.) I was gone taking photos during a lot of the dinner and they saved plates for us. Sure, that’s obvious to them, but the action really felt like exceptional service to us. And we weren’t the only ones who thought they were exceptional. Several of my guests commented on how friendly, polite and professional the entire team was. Needless to say, they left the kitchen spotless too.
All of the vendors that participated in my wedding were good, but a few were standouts. Aloha Events was among this elite group. They really enabled a stress-​free experience and delivered such high quality service and food. I wish I could get married more often so they could be part of my party again. I recommend Aloha Events without reservation.
And, we’re still talking about the butternut squash ravioli. Amazing.
