Westside dive shop has a great selection and the owner and employees are very helpful.
Every time I have dropped off my equipment to get worked on, they get it done far sooner than I expected.
The other day I stopped by to pickup some fins (that were ready a day early, btw!) and was impressed when I overheard the owner talking to another customer. He was giving this guy helpful info that didn’t directly relate with his purchase. That’s impressive customer service and really nice to see.

Great selection with many options all in this small store. Reliable and friendly staff that didn’t make this newb feel like such a newb. With a military discount, expect 10% off. And after buying my JBL Woody and three prong, I cross checked the price I’d get for them at other places. You’ll save here regardless if you receive the discount or not.

Very rude and no customer service. I believe it was the owner too. Bald white guy behind the counter. Do yourself a favor and spend your money elsewhere.

Kris helped to find me some prescription lenses for a diving mask I had. He was real nice and got back to me real quickly.

Great shop with a huge inventory I bought a used gun and took it in t their shop, gun was all kind of jacked up. They got it all rigged up and ready for me to go hunting. I’m new to the sport and they helped me out with a lot of pointers. If you need gear or new bands definitely hit up Westside.

I needed help with some fishing gear last week (newbie here). The staff was SO incredibly helpful!!! Brian and CJ helped get my gear set up. They were very patient and so informative, walking me through step by step. They gave me a friendly welcome to Hawaii, it felt like we were family. Thank you guys for your help!

I emailed the owner about a dive light I bought it worked the first day and wasn’t working the next five. He told me to bring it In and he would take care of it. Plus I found out its u see warranty for life.

Arrived there a few minutes after 10am, store wasn’t open yet even though it takes me an hour to drive there and to just be the first customer, unfortunately the door was locked so I waited patiently outside and a minute later I heard the door unlock. I can see as I walk in that Chris is already busy with all this new inventory that just arrived and there’s all kinds of accessories by the counter that i can only imagine, that he needs to check it all in and put it all away. Being in retail for over 11 years I know how it is and I know that Chris has a hundred things on his mind about everything and anything so I quickly try to get what I want and get the heck out because I already know that he’s not gonna be 100% attentive to my needs. I spent about close to $ 300 on fins and walked out to take care of some other business that was planned for the rest of my day. I walked in that store with a sense of buying all new equipment from a mask and snorkel, weights and a belt, another knife, some extra bands and cords, and a full wetsuit along with my already purchased $ 300 fins. But Chris body language and speech translated to me that he was too busy for me. I understand that your «personally» busy, but in retail, you are never too busy for a customer who made the hour drive there, wanted to give you hundreds of dollars, and just wanted to receive quality customer service and not feel rushed. But I get it, we are human and we will never be perfect. You did the best you could but I’m the customer, I don’t care what’s on your mind and the checklist things that you gotta fulfill that morning. You even admitted that you were busy with other things but I was only the second customer that you spoke to on this day. Take care of me, that’s all I wanted. Even though I don’t remember hearing a «thank you» before I left the store, I thank you Chris, I know you could of done better base on other feedback that I’ve read because you are a Good guy but on this day, you weren’t Great. «There’s always room for improvement,» I’ll just buy my remaining items else where. Kris and the WSDT team are awesome! They have a very friendly and knowlegable staff with a huge variety of fishing, diving & spearfishing gear to choose from.
From the avid snorkeler to the intense blue water diver, Westside dive definitely has the proper gear to get you up and running!
They only carry quality brand name products and their inventory is alway fully stocked.

I went in today looking for some fins for freediving. I’m still learning and didn’t know which ones would be the best for me. The guy there was so knowledgable and the prices were very reasonable compared to other dive stores on the island. I recommend you stop here for rentals or purchases, they are amazing!

I walked into Westside Dive yesterday and met Kris. Being someone who has never used a Hawaiian sling but looking to get into the hobby Kris took the time to show me each one and what was best for me. Also showed me a few things I needed and might need or want later on. I never felt rushed or like I was bothering him. He even took the time to give me a chart of fish and making marks on fish explaining details about each one. Being new to the hobby I need all the guidance I could get and I will be returning to Westside Dive and Tackle. I would recommend it.

Awesome variety of fishing and diving gear. Picked up my hydroflask here for cheap! Hit em up u wont be disappointed.

Amazing shop. Chris the owner is awesome. Does not push anything and is very patient. He was also not worried about getting the most money out of my pocket but wAs rather helpful in me saving money. I am new to the dive thing and has made me feel comfortable about what to do. Highly recommended. Thanks Chris!

The best diving shops in central Oahu. They have everything you need to start spearfishing or snorkeling or fishing. They only sell nothing but great quality gear and there customer service is full of ALOHA. Military friendly store.

My partner and I have been serious snorkelers and beginner freedivers. This small store has basically everything we need.
Our experience in service here has been very good. I think their price is the best on this island. They had referred us to other stores (Hanapaa and Maui Sports) where we can find certain items that we were looking for.

I had purchased a Groupon for a spearfishing lesson a while back ($ 75 for a $ 225 fishing lesson). The Groupon had expired, but I knew that it was only the promotional value of $ 225 that could not be used. As a result, I went to the shop to use the value of the Groupon ($ 75) to pick up a mask and snorkel. I asked the individual working at the time if I could go ahead and use the Groupon. He told me it was up to the owner. I asked if he could find out for me and the individual handed me a business card and told me to call the owner myself. Already I knew the service was terrible.
I went ahead and called the owner (Kris Tyler) and explained that my Groupon had expired, but I wanted to go ahead and use the value that I paid for the Groupon to purchase some items. The owner told me that is not how it works. I tried to explain to him that Groupon promotional values may expire, but the amount that was paid for the Groupon itself never expires. He then accused me of being a thief and trying to rip him off. I then asked him if he would like me to read the fine print that is on the Groupon itself, and he told me I can read it to myself on my own time. I knew it was pointless, but I tried to explain it to him one last time. I tried to explain that it is even stated on the Groupon website under Frequently Asked Questions, and he cut me off and told me that I had to get over the fact that I could not use the Groupon and that I need to stop trying to rip him off.
I said thanks for the help and hung up. As we were about to leave, I tried to explain to the employee that was working what the issue was. I showed him the Groupon on my phone and the fine print, but he told me there was nothing he could do. After we had left, I received a phone call from the owner. I figured he must have realized Groupon’s policy. Instead, he called and told me he saw the store video cameras. He said I had «some nerve» coming into his store and making a scene. I COULD NOT BELIEVE THIS GUY. No one made a scene. In fact, I’m confident the other customers weren’t even aware of our presence. I tried to tell him to call his Groupon Representative and figure it out, but he kept cutting me off and continued to chew me out on the phone.
Long story short, Groupon apologized for all the inconvenience and refunded the money. I recommend searching for a different shop to find whatever dive and tackle items you need. I found that the prices were just as competitive at other shops. However, I guarantee the service will be much better elsewhere. At the very least, you won’t be chewed out by the owner and wrongfully accused of being a thief…

If I was really rude, I would give this place zero stars. Rude, no greet, and definitely no customer service skills. I believe the guy who «did not» help us tonight was even the owner (caucasian guy). In Hawaii, for the locals, especially if customers are spending $ 200 dollars for dive fins, I expect exceptional customer service even at 30 minutes till closing.
Let me tell you, my husband and I walked in to this little shop excited for the gift certificate my husband received for Christmas and this place was a «bum your trip» deal!!! Walked in with NO hello! Then my husband was asking questions about certain fins he wanted and as my husband asked, the guy looked at his laptop, continued typing away on whatever he was doing, sat there and did not give any eye contact or suggestions and tried to brush my husband off!!! Then my husband asked to try the fins on and my husband got «Oh! you gotta try ‘em on now!!!» as his response from this dude. If we did not have a gift certificate we would have never spent any money there AT ALL!!! So sad I have to be so negative, but it seemed to me that this place does not care about their customers nor their own service and the people. We live in Hawaii, so share the Aloha!!! Rude and never again!!!

I followed google map to the store but couldn’t find it so I had to call to find out that they have moved to the new location. The shop is small. The guy there was nice but he couldn’t really help me picking the gear I need for my scuba diving class. I ended up spending 2 hours circling around Kapolei (the traffic on Saturday was really bad) without getting the stuffs I went looking for. Pretty bad experience.
