Clay Fusion

There are very few times when I can buy or make an anniversary gift for my parents that I know they will like. Besides that, I’m very critical of my own work. Shelly, the owner, and her staff, helped me immensely!!! The owner was working on a custom order for a client but never, ever hesitated to come check on me and her other customers. For me, Clay Fusion is comparable to therapy. Quiet time to work on a special piece… knowing that the end result will be so much more beautiful than I had planned. Shelly has a gift with children and never criticizes their work. She will give advice, based on her experience, but she is over the top patient, kind and helpful to both kids and adults! I will be back next week!

Very unfriendly. The staff there treat people like a strict teacher. The only thing she keeps on doing is blaming children put/​use too much paint. The paint is cherished as eye drop. Very poor attitude. Will never go there any more.

Myself and two friends went to Clay Fusion on a Friday Night, which is ladies night. It also happened to be the week of their 5 year birthday of being open so we were lucky enough to get our projects half off. Since it was ladies night, as well as half off, it was very crowded when we got there so the ladies working were very busy. Despite this, they welcomed us in, helped us with choosing our piece, explaining how different paints and materials worked, and came back to check on us frequently. I was so impressed with the selection of items to choose from as well as the energy felt in Clay Fusion. I can tell there are a lot of repeating customers who frequent there often. Both Shelly and Nona were so helpful and nice. They are very well experienced and honest with you. I wanted to do a piece for my husband but asked Shelly if she thought I could do it. She said she felt I could absolutely do it, but that I’d need much more time to. I appreciate that honesty! I highly suggest Clay Fusion and will definitely be going back.

My best friend and I went to clay fusion the other day and it was our first time. We felt like the prices were a bit steep and that the process for someone that has never been there was a bit chaotic. It would be helpful if they had a sign upfront that tells you what to do upon coming in. It was a little bit crowded and the tables were a little too close together.
The good thing was that they offered a unique selection of plates, animals, bowls, mugs, etc. to choose from.

We arrived at 6pm for our Firday Night/​Ladies Night BYOB Event.
I would of loved to give a 5 star rating but –the few things I would suggest would be to better explain and guide newbies to the process as we kind of stood around at our first arrival and tried to figure it out for ourselves not knowing what comes first or second… there was a young lady that finally assisted us after the owner prompted her to take care of us… She then guided us over to a table in which we noticed they had put a cute pink sign Reserved for the Amtrak Ladies” so cute, but after she showed us the table she kind of dazed out and didn’t tell us that we had to look on the shelves for a piece and the price would be on the bottom, then we need to pick our paint from the shelf (yes you can bring the whole bottle over to your table) they also have special glaze which cost a few bucks more, the paint brushes are over by the sink, (I think this young lady although nice she needs a bit more training) I kind of wish the owners son was there that night as he was very informative when I first found this place a few weeks ago with my husband. I am sure he would of made it a lot easier. Also on a ladies night/​date night I felt a bit uncomfortable drinking while there are kids running around.
The owner made her way to us eventually and introduced herself, a really nice lady she offered us two cups for our wine as we were truly drinking straight from the bottle. :P
All in all we had a great experience once we got settled in and knew what to do, I am hooked, loved the relaxing feeling of painting while having a conversation with my best friend, can’t hardly wait to pick up the pieces next Friday, even want to stay and paint another piece. Addicted already.

Love going to Clay Fusion. Always have a great time. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. Always available for your questions. Great for beginners or more experienced. Don’t have to be a great artist. Plenty of paint choices, good quality brushes and anything you could possibly need. Previous poster from 2 years ago advised to bring your own paint brushes, no need to, found the brushes to be of good quality and in great shape. Great way to spend time with your children, family or friends. I’m addicted!

All artsy nerdy like, I love to go get my paint on. I’d one day love to have a cabinet full of hand painted dishes, but at $ 30 a plate it is going to take me a while to get there.
Hubs and I have been to Clay Fusion several times and have painted multiple things. We were in a hurry to use our Groupon before it expired and scurried on into Clay Fusion yesterday.
We decided on two GIANT pasta bowls and coordinated our paint colors and went to town getting our paint on. We grabbed up about 10 brushes, 10 markers, and several sponges. One of my gripes at this place is that I should always remember to bring my own tools for the craft.
Bring Your Own:
Paint brushes — All of theirs have been used and severely abused by little children. We need an adults only bucket or a BYOBrush suggestion.
Pencils — They’d suggest you use Crayola magic markers to draw on your pottery before you paint. However, after two strokes of the pen you’re left with a chalky nubbin that does no more marking. I will stick to the pencils. Next time, I will have them in my bag.
They have a good selection of paints, plenty of room to spread out, and a helpful staff. If you want peace and quiet you probably should not come on a Saturday because we were bombarded with the littles trying to paint their ceramic butterflies etc. and fighting over what color they could use.
However, they do have fast turn around times for firing and allow you to pick up your piece in one week. We’ve always been happy with everything we’ve painted and when we save up some more cashola we’ll make some more dishes.

What a wonderful experience! I had purchased a Groupon for Clay Fusion a while back thinking «this might be something fun to try.» So my friend and I went last night to try our hand at creativity. There were so many items to choose from they really had something for everyone — platters, coin banks in all shapes and sizes, mugs, martini glasses, figurines, etc. There were a ton of paint colors, specialty glazes, and paint brushes and painting tools to pick from as well.
So after perusing the shelves for our blank bisque canvas, I decided on a frog bank and my friend a bear bank. When we reached the paint, we were looking longer there than at the bisque pieces. With all the sample items out that had been painted it really helps you to be more creative and think outside of the box with your design. I finally decided that, while my frog looked more like a bull frog, I was going to paint it in the fashion of a royal blue poison arrow frog… so what if it looks like it’s slightly overweight?
Even though we got there around 7:30pm (they close at 9pm on Thursdays), it was still a super busy night for the staff. They had not only individuals there but also 2 larger groups — one of those groups was a group of women who were drinking wine and having a great time! After a little hesitation on our part (glazes do seem rather permanent), we started the painting process and asked questions of the very knowledgeable and helpful staff as we went along. Our final products will be ready in a week and I can’t wait to see them!
If you have kids, a birthday party, or a group of friends that want to have a fun time, definitely try out Clay Fusion — you don’t need to be a self-​proclaimed DaVinci to paint bisque. Oh, and one of our most favorite parts of the experience — listening to the awesomely eclectic music played on Mix 101.5 from a radio in the room.
