After seven years as a stock market analyst, Wake Forest resident Julia Ormond set her corporate career aside in order to found a locally-​focused branding consultancy and graphic design firm.

Specializing in brand creation, promotional print, and web design, Design Works Branding Solutions opened its doors in March, placing Ormond at the center of a creativity whirlwind. With a background in corporate finance and a serious design skill set, Ormond is now partnering with Triangle area businesses to develop branded collateral and campaigns that deliver aesthetically and contribute meaningfully to the bottom-​line.

So what of the seemingly giant leap from the world of Finance to that of Marketing? The Design Works founder says it’s not such a giant leap after all. «Both Finance and Marketing are about information gathering, insight, vision, and the willingness to take risks. My new career is really my old career, minus some spreadsheets, plus a whole lot of fun.»
