Dr. Day Care Learning Center is led by Mary Ann Shallcross Smith, Ed.D., known as «Dr. Day Care.» Mary Ann began her career as an early childhood and school age professional in 1972, when she started her licensed home based day care in Lincoln, RI

Meet the Business Owner

Mary Ann Shallcross S.

Business Owner

Mary Ann’s passion is children. She constantly studies child development and child behavior. She has traveled all over the world, visiting more than 52 countries staying in villages with families and experiencing and learning their culture and ways of life. She has a passion for studying child development and parent-​child interactions, as it relates to how each country has their own unique way of raising children. She has also visited many schools and day care centers in her travels. She defines her life as being very lucky and extremely fortunate to have her work as her real life story.

She is the author of the children’s book «Edgar Graduates» — all about developmental and educational milestones.
