Established in 2013.

The BaRnSiDe is the flagship eatery for breakfast & lunch of Conklin Catering. Operating strictly as an off premise catering company for the past five years, this is our «twist» on the everyday hum-​drum of two of my favorite meals of the day ;)

Today’s lunch at the Barnside was an enormous disappointment at best. Our order was incorrect and the over all experience was a let down. I left the restaurant with my stomach literally in knots. The quality of food here has definitely gone down in the past year and needless to say we won’t be back any time soon. The only reason I didn’t give 1 star is because the staff was friendly.

My wife and I wanted to try something new and local for lunch and decided on the short trip to Walden to The Barnside Grill, What a great choice. The food was great and the woman behind the counter was very polite and welcoming. The seating and décor was tasteful and inviting. We ordered, sat down and the food came out really quickly. I got the Brunch Burger, which was fantastic. My wife got a Jerk Turkey sandwich, which she said was excellent. Lately we have found our local deli sandwiches to be lacking in both quantity and quality. That was not the case at The Barnside, we will be returning very soon.

When I worked in Orange County, I used to drive through Walden a lot and, consequently, ended up at Barnside pretty often. This is definitely a one-​of-​a-​kind place in itty, bitty Walden. It’s a cozy, small town café in the center of the village, where you can hangout and people watch.
They have the same few people working there all the time and you always seem to run into someone you know, making it especially charming.
This might just be me being a little greedy, but one of my favorite things about Barnside is that they offer tons of those little Coffee-​mate creamers for free so whenever I go, it’s a hazelnut DREAM.
I’ve always left a little disappointed by the food here, though. They have a pretty large sandwich menu and everything I’ve ever eaten off there seemed a lot more bread than meaty, cheesey sandwich filling. To me, it’s more of a coffee run kind of place, so I don’t care too much about the food but, you know, bring on the turkey.

breakfast at the barnside is top notch. — i like to grab breakfast outside of the house. with the barnside i can grab it to go or, if i have a minute i can sit and enjoy. the coffee is great too.
i have snagged a few sandwiches recently. the chicken salad is, as the cool kids say (or maybe used to say) ‘the bomb’. the italian combo, a staple of many a lunch fare, is made fantastic by the seemingly just made bread. so soft it takes a good sandwich to great.
i have only positive remarks on the barnside and i consider myself lucky to live in such proximity.

Best local café in Orange County, NY! The atmosphere is great. Staff is always friendly. The food is out of this world. I enjoy the many selections of burgers to choose from. The chefs are very creative with the types of flavors and everything is FRESH. I usually get my order to go but I see many customers enjoying the window seating to watch the hustle and bustle of the small town. If you enjoy a nice relaxing meal, whether it be breakfast or lunch, The Barnside is the place to be.

Awesome place, even more awesome food. I’ve seen this place go through different owners time after time again but never has it been so good. The employees here actually care about good food and never take shortcuts. The kitchen is very clean and well kept while the meats and vegetables are at a higher quality than your run of the mill restaurant.
Highly recommended, quick and prompt service.

Great local eatery; wish Walden would up its game and have a few more places like this, as currently it’s the only cool café in town. Great food, great prices, great staff; I only have one tiny little gripe, and that’s that they don’t serve fresh, hand poured coffee. The coffee is good, don’t get me wrong, but it’s large batch, self serve container coffee and sometimes the coffee you get is either stale, cold, or the canister is empty.
I know it sounds like i’m being picky, but I’m from Brooklyn so I know good coffee! (First world problems, lol,) Simply change the coffee situation and I’m yours for life! :)
