This place is amazing. They fixed my muffler and rotors extremely quickly and for a great price. This was a year ago now and still no problems with the car. Art is super friendly and hilarious. They back their work up and fir good reason. It’s a place you can trust. Whenever I’m in town, I’m bringing my ride here!

The reason I went to this shop was the rave reviews. Believe what everyone is saying. The staff was knowledgeable, honest, and helpful. Until now, I have NEVER walked out of an auto repair facility feeling better than when I walked in. I’m so grateful to have found Art and his staff. Kudos to all of them for running a first-​rate, customer-​friendly operation. They will be my new go to place for auto repairs. God Bless!

The team at Tuffy are the best. Even though it is 30 min away from my house I wouldn’t go anywhere else. As a woman, I know little about cars– Art has always given me the straight up, honest and upstanding. Great shop, great integrity, great group of guys. 5 stars all the way!

The Man, the Myth, the Legend…
The owner, Art Rott, is practically a demigod. It’s obvious that one of the main reasons people rate this shop so well is the way he cares for his customers. He is a straight shooter, a master story teller, and likely one of the most compassionate people you’ll ever run across. All day long, he was teaching a lesson in how business should be done — pouring coffee and shooting the breeze with those of us waiting, working special arrangements with people that needed it, and immediately fixing any issues that came up. He would donate a kidney if someone needed it… and he already has…
The Shop…
The crew is efficient and highly knowledgeable. When I arrived, cars were double and triple parked through the entire parking lot. By lunch time, they had somehow cleared out the lot and sent most people on their way. Sal, who worked on my car, pulled me out to the garage to take a look at what was wrong, and I felt confident that he did the job right the first time. I have a particularly ornery ’05 Subaru Forester, and they stuck with their quote, even though the job took twice the time they thought it would.
Get there well before the shop opens, because there will already be a line out the door.
I cannot recommend this shop enough, and I would be shocked to find myself anywhere else the next time I need work done.

My Dad brought his car here previously and I took 2 cars for repair based on my Dad’s thoughts. I think the guys at Tuffy are nice enough and surely do communicate well but after paying a couple thousand dollars in repairs for both cars, I am not impressed. I had a disagreement over one of the repairs, I was told to take it to a different place to complete the fix (since this type of repair was more specialized) and it was basically a run around. I am glad that so many others have had excellent experiences but mine was not so glowing.

Art and his team are true professionals. I brought in my 1990 Miata for an AC conversion — no easy task, and Art’s team did it in a few hours. They even re-​torqued my lugs after a dealership made a mistake and «forgot» to tighten them.
There’s no shortage of auto repair shops, but Art has built a wonderful reputation in the area and I can see why. He’s earned a customer for life with me!

Honest, friendly, courteous service! One in a million place! They have made lifetime customers of our family, would highly recommend!
Serpetine belt broke in my son’s car, Art and Company fixed it in one day and explained everything they did, as well as changed the oil for free! Prices very reasonable, we are pleased!

You won’t find a more honest, hard-​working bunch of guys. And the owner, Art, is a one-​of-​a-​kind, funny, awesome human being. I would never trust my baby («Silver Stud” — Suzuki Grand Vitara) with anyone else.

Art, Josh, and the staff… killed it. They did a fantastic job!
First I took my Honda Accord there when we went through a deep puddle and it pulled out the exhaust system. They ran through a few critical items {that I had no idea were wrong… well maybe I knew some of the things ;) } and told me the end cost. Frankly, I was amazed at they were able to turn it around so quickly at a great price.
Next, and this is the big one… I took my infiniti to them to get service done THAT 2 NISSAN/​INFINITI DEALERSHIPS COULD NOT HANDLE the issues. AND, here is the whopper… the dealerships were at 3x’s the cost if not more.
First of all I resent the fact I took it to the dealers and they took me for a ride. #1 not fixing things, #2 Charging way too much, #3 not treating me right as a customer.
So I decide to take my beloved car TO THIS TUFFY. And I’m thinking, what could this Tuffy possibly do the dealerships couldn’t? It was a risk.

So anyway, there was this stubborn CAM POSITION Sensor reading/​failure that would not go away. I had to drive the vehicle like this for 2 years because neither Suburban Infiniti and Infiniti of Ann Arbor could fix it. Why is the sensor a big deal? Well the VDC (vehicle dynamic control) wouldn’t activate and it’s a necessary safety feature. AND the car would turn over a lot before actually starting.
Lastly, I had a P/​S rear wheel bearing that needed replacement. Infiniti of Ann Arbor just did the work on the D/​S bearing, and then told me they didn’t have another. WOW. And at $ 600+ dollars for the 1 bearing I was livid. (When rear drive vehicle rear bearings fail, they do so at the same rate most of the time. So if 1 is bad, both are bad. See my point? They should have always kept 2 sets in stock.)
THIS TUFFY:
So I had THIS TUFFY put in the P/​S bearing, and they did a great job. Putting bearings on a Infiniti G is difficult work. And they turned it around pretty quickly. And holy crap, they fixed the sensor issue and all my safety systems are working… and the car starts immediately.
I can say it has taken a lifetime to find this place (good mechanics) that can do just about everything. The Tuffy name through me for a loop because I assumed they only did exhaust. But they do way more.
I was afraid I was going to have to buy another car, because my car is 10 years old now. Little things are going to pop up here and there… so it’s good to know I have a favorite mechanic to work on my favorite car.

This place is incredible! Of all mechanic shops I’ve been to, this is by far the most honest, trustworthy, and helpful place! The owner and his son bent over backwards to get my car fixed the same day. When I got the bill I was shocked at how low it was! Great work at a fair price from honest wonderful people! Thank you!!!

Honestly I have never met a more sincere person who runs a business. After getting an exhaust component installed they changed my oil and installed wipers for free! Who is this guy? I thought. I’ve never had as much fun waiting for my car to get serviced. Very entertaining place with all the nostalgia in the store. It’s only a kidney? Really? It’s only a blessing that you’re there. Have a nice day? I think I will.

Not sure if I can accurately describe how much I love this place, but I’m going to try anyway.
You walk into the shop and the first thing you’ll notice are all the awards for customer service completely covering the walls, and they are all well deserved. The owner, Art Rott, might be the single nicest person in all of Michigan. While you wait for your car to get serviced you can read about how he is short 1 kidney that he donated to a customer.
Most importantly, Saturday oil change special. You show up at 7:30 and pay less than $ 20 for an oil change and get your car back before 9. Seems like a long time, but it’s worth showing up early for. While you wait you can hop across the street and grab breakfast at Tim Horton’s.
I have gotten other repairs done to my car at this Tuffy’s and feel like I always get an honest price and good treatment. If they cannot do the job, they always recommend a few local places that can help.
In conclusion, I always drive out of my way to get my cars serviced at this particular Tuffy’s, because I know Art and his crew would do anything to help me out. Except for maybe giving me a kidney because I think they are running low on those.

I have had all my service done here for at least twenty years, even before the current owner. There is no where I trust more to have the work done properly with competitive prices. The service and friendliness are exceptional. Do not hesitate for a moment to visit Tuffy.

Over the weekend we drove from Chicago to the Detroit are to attend a wedding. On our way the brakes went out. It was terrible timing since we were 300 miles from home and were in between the wedding and the reception in nice clothes, but at least the people at Tuffy’s were wonderful.
They looked at the brakes, and ordered the parts they needed right away. When they came in they tried to work on it quickly, but it turned out they would need more than they realized. They couldn’t fix it that day, but told us they could do it on Monday (not that helpful since we had to get back to Chicago).
Since they couldn’t fix it, they filled it up with brake fluid and recommended a couple other places to try. In the end they didn’t charge us for anything, since they said they didn’t fix anything. They tried and did put energy into it, so I thought this was really nice.
Also, while we were waiting a lady came in and asked about having her tire looked at. They said they could do it, but that there was a place that would do it for free down the street. I liked that they really did seem to care about their customers.
Customer service here is incredible. I would feel confident with anything they told me to do, and they clearly were not just trying to rip people off!
