Boundary Oak Driving Range

As far as driving ranges, I really enjoyed this place. Besides having the $ 9 bucket of 90 balls, which BTW is very good, I’ve paid far more in the past. I can truly appreciate the markings on their mats. I didn’t need to use my guidance sticks. I measured the flags using my range finder and their measurements are within 2 – 3 yards of mine. You should enjoy this range.

I am really new to hitting golf balls and so far I’ve only been to the driving ranges at Boundary Oak in Walnut Creek and at Diablo Creek in Concord. Boundary Oak doesn’t have lights for night operation so it’s a day-​use only driving range. Large buckets are $ 9 and there are lots of spots. I prefer ones close to the very end so that nobody can see me and laugh (except the lefties).
You can drive up to the parking lot by the driving range and there are plenty of parking spots. Not sure if there is a restaurant or bar nearby unless there’s a private event (we’ve been to a couple of beautiful weddings here!)
This place is close to my home and it’s nice, but it’s my second favorite driving range out of two.

Visiting from out of town, just for the weekend. Decide to hit some balls after a conference. Spur of the moment and go down to this «establishment» to rent an iron or two. Club rentals are 15 dollars. Ridiculous, I just wanted a pitching wedge and any iron you have laying around. They stink.

I stopped going here for a while because it was a real gamble with whether the the golf ball machine was going to rip you off. Seems like they’ve since replaced the machines so that’s not a problem anymore. The parking is very convenient. The mats are in better shape than most of the other ranges in the area. Also like most of the other ranges, it can be a challenge to find a mat with one of those rubber tees. My biggest complaint is that it’s a bit more expensive than the other ranges in the area.

I love that you can drive right up to the driving range.
A small bucket is $ 4 and a large is $ 9. They have probably 25+ spots for people to drive.
Next to your slot there’s a sheet that lists each flag and the yardage.
The only thing I don’t like is that the range is up a hill so it is tough to track the ball sometimes versus a flat range.
I like the grill at the clubhouse for a nice cheap and quick lunch. I grabbed a sub $ 10 lunch and drink which is great in my book.

Worked here for a long time back in the day when you had to buy balls from a person instead of a machine. Still a great place to hit a bucket.

This is a great range. Lots of room and easy to get your bucket of balls using the machines on the course. Diablo Creek requires you to go inside and pay, then use the machine. At Boundary Oak, a simple swipe of the credit card or insert cash and you are good to go.
Yes the driving range is on a hill — however, the colored flags represent measured distances — so it really isn’t that difficult to know how far you’ve it.
Nice people and great facility, I’ll hit at Boundary Oak anytime.

Terrible range. Hitting into a steep hill, distances are impossible to measure. Hitting off mats. Worse, though, is that the ground under your feet is bumpy and rolling. I suppose some kind of range is better than hitting into nets, but still, this range sucks. Metro and Roddy have nice grass ranges, and for mat ranges you can do MUCH better at Diablo Creek and even the Buchannan Fields.

Whats great about this driving range is its less than 6 minutes away from home, getting your bucket of balls is VERY convenient with ball machines where you simply enter your bills or even a credit card to dispense your golf balls in various amounts. Parking is steps away from the range. And best of all, they dont close til late evening, so you can practice under the lights.
