My goal is to be the premier residential and commercial floor covering company top retailer in San Francisco Bay. In order to achieve that goal I must remain focused on the things that I can control and work within those things to give my company the best chance to achieve.

Items I can control include who I partner with when deciding what products I want to offer to my customers. Another item I can control is how I react when things don’t go exactly as planned. I have always said that’s what separates great companies from average companies are their people. The ability to access a situation and figure out the best course of action is critical. Things happen in business and it’s how you deal with them that ultimately determines whether your customer will sing your praises or curse about you to every friend, neighbor and/​or human being that will listen.

2 days after posting this review I was contacted by the owner Brian who repeatedly asked me to remove my 2 star review from Unilocal.Because of my original review, I was accused of «cyber bullying» for leaving an honest critical review about their pricing and how they were outbid by a competitor and then I was threatened that he spoke to his attorneys and could file a lawsuit if I didn’t retract my 2 star review. I explained to Brian that I felt that Unilocal is most effective when real users post their honest real life experiences good and bad to help other customers make informed decisions about choosing a business to work with.
My opinion is that a business should be able to listen to real customer’s criticisms and learn from them… to improve their business practices — such as reviewing pricing models & efficiency to stay competitive & relative in their line of business. I would encourage Unilocalers to read the good and bad reviews for this business and the other Diablo Floorings in Danville and Pleasanton. But pay close attention to how this business owner responds to any criticisms and also the tone of his responses.
Based on my last interaction and response by Brian the owner I am reducing my Unilocal review to 1 star. It is very difficult for me to be able to recommend any business that uses intimidation to attempt to silence legitimate honest & critical reviews. Using intimidation to attempt to censor & take away the protected right of Freedom of Speech (protected by the 1st Amendment of the Constitution and California’s anti-​SLAPP Laws section 425.16 & section 425.17) is very unprofessional & inappropriate in my opinion and I would assume that the millions of Unilocalers, readers, & news media would also agree that it is counter-​productive to capitalism and against the overall spirit of Unilocal

They don’t seem to know their own business and don’t seem to try to hard. After talking on the phone and then going to their store — every step of the way I felt like I was pulling teeth for information. Maybe their work is better but I sure wouldn’t use them after their disinterested, unknowledgable and unhelpful sales.

These guys are the best in the area if you want top-​shelf products done your way. I had one day in town to meet up for measurements and choose flooring, and only a four day window to have new floors installed, and they managed to get the work done in the first two days — perfectly. Management is responsive, sales guys know their stuff, and the installers are pros.
I withheld the fifth star for two reasons, one big and one small. First, their guys don’t paint baseboards, and it’s much much easier if the installers will paint them before installing them. Second, their guys left a reasonably expensive tool behind, which worried me.
Again, Diablo flooring is top-​shelf. Go in there if you are willing to pay top dollar for excellent products and excellent work. In other words, it isn’t cheap, and you shouldn’t expect haggling to go well. You can have price, or you can have quality. This is the place to go when you need quality.

When looking for carpet, make sure to visit Diablo Floors. I received excellent service starting with the first visit with Connie in the Walnut Creek store, to the precise measurements with Roy, to the flexible scheduling with Jeff, and the excellent installation team. Pricing was fair and competitive. Installation was complete a full day ahead of schedule. The installers showed up on time and were very hard workers. Our premises were left clean, the carpets vacuumed. It was a pleasure coordinating the work through Diablo Floors and I enthusiastically recommend Diablo Floors for your flooring needs.

Recent carpet experience was a perfect «10» for both sales and installation. David Formhals was our sales person and he demonstrated his excellent knowledge of the right carpet for our needs and got us a fantastic price from the factory. We had the team of «Jose and Jose» do the installation of five rooms in one day. They workmanship was again a «10». I am very critical about workmanship and craftsmanship and I was blown away by these guys. Amazing experience and one I am not used to.

We purchased very expensive, low-​rise looped carpet from the Walnut Creek store. We were not ever warned that it was fragile, or subject to snagging – and were not concerned about it, as we have looped/​berber carpet in two other bedrooms as well as our den.
Within one month, the carpet started to snag, in multiple places all over the room. It is now completely ruined. When I contacted them, they asked me if I had pets, and when I said I did, they simply dismissed what I was saying. They refused to come out and look at it, and told me if I wanted it inspected, I would have to pay for an inspector myself.
I have had looped carpet in this, and in other houses for twenty years, and have always had pets. Never have I ever seen a carpet deteriorate and come unraveled like this – in mine or anyone else’s house. Unfortunately, we are unable to replace it at this time, and it makes our bedroom look ridiculous.
Diablo Flooring should have stood by this product and, at an absolute minimum, come to inspect the problem. I have never been treated so disrespectfully by a local merchant – and I always try to buy local when I can to support those folks. I feel completed fleeced, and would NEVER shop at Diablo Flooring again.

I had a great experience dealing with Diablo Flooring. I had been looking for a nice rift and quartered white oak look that wouldn’t be so highly priced, and had exhausted every flooring store in the Bay Area looking for it. I ended up finding Diablo online, and had a very pleasant experience. They had the quality I wanted for the best price. Brian was always very helpful in providing the info I needed. The floors arrived today and they look beautiful. I’m very happy I went with Diablo Flooring.

My husband and I wanted carpet installed in our new home before we moved in. We wanted to use a local company and we are so glad we did!
From the first moment we walked in Connie was extremely helpful. She listened to exactly what we wanted and helped us comb through the sea of choices. Roy came and took the measurement, handled getting the carpet ordered and was our go to person during the process. He was delightful to work with. Jeffery, who was in charge of installation, was able to accommodate our need to have it installed quickly. Everyone communicate very well and made the process easy for us.
The installer was very professional and did a wonderful job. The carpet looks great. He also did a great clean up job.
We would highly recommend Diablo Flooring!

Nice product. Mediocre installment. Owner Brian doesn’t seem to understand business. They left telling me my floors were rushed. I had to spend hours cleaning the glue that came up due to them telling me I could move heavy furnature back so soon. I feel ripped off and have uneven floors… thanks Diablo flooring. BEWARE.

My follow up review:
Since my 2 star review I have had Brian, owner of Diablo Flooring, insult me, refuse a discount, accused me of blackmail, and threatened me with lawyers. I’m trying to run a business of my own. Not deal with shotty floor shop owners.
I have also spent upwards of 10 hours over the past month cleaning the glue residue off of my floors. The installer helped me move objects back into my shop while telling me «We’re sorry we rushed it…» and proceeded to not tell me about glue coming up do to weight.
Please see other low star reviews to see repetition in not informing clients of instruction and care.
Brian please leave me alone. I don’t want anything to do with your business anymore.

We recently had our wood floors and carpet put in by Diablo Flooring. They were clear communicators (Brian the owner) and on time, and true to their word for the completion date. The floors are simply gorgeous.
The samples we looked at for both the wood and carpet were just slightly lighter than what we ended up with, but it worked out in our favor because we liked them even better than the samples. Their quality is really top notch and their customer service was excellent.

We hired Diablo Flooring to refinish the hardwood floors in our new home and to replace the carpet in our master bedroom. We were on a tight time schedule because we had to be out of our rental in four weeks and were doing other work to our new place. Brian and Manuel helped us pick a gorgeous finish for the floors and a beautiful plush carpet for the master. The installation was timely and Diablo Flooring cooperated well with our other contractors to get everything done on schedule. Moreover, the pricing was reasonable and Diablo Flooring stayed within their initial estimate. They also sent a cleaner in to tidy up the floors before we moved in– such great service! We could not be happier!

We looked around quite a bit before identifying the flooring we wanted for our kitchen and entrance at Diablo Flooring. The installation was superb. In fact, we liked it so much we had them come back and put the new laminate in the living and dining room, plus install new baseboard throughout. They got it all done flawlessly and in one day. Roy was very responsive, even came out to measure late Saturday afternoon. Alfredo and Brent were amazing at the installation. I definitely recommend them.

Great service. Ask for Roy or Brian. I think Brian is the owner. They were the only flooring company that agreed to install our carpet using our own measurements. No other place was willing to help us unless THEY did the measurements prior to ordering. Problem is we couldn’t get into our condo prior to our move in date and wanted the carpet installed before moving in our furniture. They agreed to use the measurements we had from the floor plan and it worked out great. Excellent installation job too. Highly recommend.

We hired Diablo Flooring to rip and replace flooring in our 2700 square foot house. We had 4 companies in the area bid on the job. Brian was by far the most professional and patient as we barraged him with questions. And when we got his quote… it was at a fair price.
We had never replaced flooring before, Brian and the team in Walnut Creek really went out of their way to help us select the right wood floor and runner carpet for the stairway.
The installers moved the entire house into the garage for us with great care and were really great along the way as we checked on the house daily during the tear out and installation to inspect the progress. The installation took a few days longer than we expected, but we were fine with it as the installers were true craftsman and took the time to really look at the wood and choose the pattern and length that suited particular areas of the house best.
Fast forward 1 year and we have scratched and gouged the wood (dropped hammer) and Brian was kind enough to fix the damage at a very reasonable price. He is truly very customer centric and wants his clients to be happy with the outcome.

As first time home buyers who were completely new to flooring and renovations, we found our experience with Diablo Flooring disappointing. In fact, we never contracted them for work because of the attendant’s lack of interest in our business, lack of advice/​guidance and lack of knowledge about the different products. It was like the blind leading the blind when we walked in and I was looking for someone to be more informative, like, «You could do this because or you could do that because.» Or, «Many people choose this type of hardwood because it’s harder, especially if you have children, so it’s less likely to scratch.» Other stores gave me that type of honesty and I appreciated it.
