I called Encina as my road bike was not shifting correctly. The guys said bring it in and they would take a look at it. Minor adjustment and I was out the door and riding again. Great service and nice guys… I tell all my cycling friends about Encina. Thanks guys…

Bought a Specialized mountain bike and got a killer deal. You can even test ride the bike before you buy! Very informative staff and will give you a lot of info if you are nice back. Great experience and even had my brother buy from them.

Went to Encina for new tires for Dura Ace wheels that make tires hard to mount when I get flats. Asked the guy for some advice on brands that might be tougher or easier to mount. Ready to spend some money. Got «what do you wanna do, try every tire in the store? I don’t have time for that.». Nope, just some expertise. «Work on your technique and use levers». Don’t know everything but been riding for 30 years and that’s some dumb advice. Next.

i like this shop. i started saving for a new mountain bike a little at a time. took longer than i expected and a few models of bikes came and went. the entire time, i would go into the shop to look and to occasionally take a test ride. no one ever made me feel awkward or out of place. when i finally closed the gap on my bike savings, i knew i had to buy my bike from these guys. payback for putting up with my questions and stuff.
i bought my bike a few weeks ago! been riding it ever since! i still call the shop to ask a few questions. which is kinda why i dinked the shop one star. (sorry)
i didnt get offered any of the «stuff» that comes with the bike. no instructions, no tools. heck, it is even unclear if i get any stuff. grease gun? instructions with the suspension components? i also got surprised by the NEW (ER) model that rolled out as i was riding out of the shop. seriously, the 2016 model with revamped geometry etc, was announced while my bike was still oozing that «new bike smell». i think it would have been awesome for someone to say.“hey just a heads-​up, the new model is rolling out in a few minutes”. not so sure i would have waited for the newer rig, or just exercised the «bird in the hand» philosophy i am so un-​good at. i like options.
so one star demerit for not giving me the option of going with the latest/​greatest model of bike and not giving me the option of the bike «stuff». or even knowing if there is bike «stuff».
i am going to do my FREE bike checkup since i have gone past the 20 hours ridden. if that goes horribly wrong, i’ll update this post fairly. haha.
it is a GREAT shop. guys seem knowledgeable. they all look like they ride and ride fast/​hard. shop is clean and well stocked. both locations are easily reachable by bike, and that is a good thing for me.

I took my bike there at the recommendation of other cyclists. They rebuilt my fork and shock reasonably well in a timely manner. However, the repair necessitated removal of the magnetic sensor for the computer. When I picked up the bike, the sensor had been reinstalled but they had lost the rubber seat for the computer. They didn’t even zip tie it to the frame correctly. I had to reinstall the computer without the rubber seat. They also installed a shift cable with the barrel adjuster unscrewed all the way so no adjustment could be made for cable stretch. I might have them rebuild my fork again but I would do the removal and installation myself.

Took my road bike in for a tune-​up, dude mumbled something about $ 15 and to come back in 10 minutes. Came back, says he did a couple of small things to it, rings me up («just charging you for the labor…») and it’s somehow $ 40. He tells me to watch my tubes. Later that day, back tire is flat. Was it his fault? No. Does it feel weird that I paid $ 40 after he quoted me $ 15 and then my bike tire ended up flat? Yes. Anyway, ended up going somewhere else, buying a tube and changing it myself. So maybe in the end I’m better off since now I know how to change a bike tire. But man, $ 40 after telling me it was $ 15 was pretty lame. Oh, and I mentioned that the bike was having trouble shifting. He said he looked at it and nothing seemed wrong. Rode it. Still broken. Wish I had spent the $ 40 on a book about bicycle repair.

Ian, Jeff, and the Team are awesome! Precision mechanics that care about keeping me riding and not wasting money on gear I don’t need. I only buy bikes from them because it is not just price, but how they treat me after the purchase. Encina Bikes Rocks!

I has need of an adjustment to my dérailleur and shifter on my 18 speed road bike. I took my bike into Encina Bicycle Center expecting to leave it for 3 – 4 days and pay for a «tune-​up». Instead, while I watched the mechanic put it up, adjusted both AND adjusted my brakes so that the front and back require equal pressure to function. He asked if there was anything else that needed work but there was none. It was done in less than 15 minutes. When we got to the cash register, I paid the minimum mechanic’s charge, $ 15.00 and I was out the door and on my way. I’m one happy bicyclist!

It is a very expensive place with bad customer service
You can spend $ 1000 and wait for 45 minutes until somebody will talk to you, even though you already have been started to be taken care of.
People who repair the bikes look professional but do not have people skills, the owner does not have either
I really wish there was another bike place in our area. This is an example about how a small business shouldn’t operate. They are slow, expensive and rude.

$ 60 for kids bike tuneup. They left message it was ready. When we came to pick it up it wasn’t ready. Told us it will be ready the next day, when we got there it wasn’t ready. Obviously not important to them. Whenever I go in there the service is not very friendly.

I’m in the process of refurbing a rusty, old bike and went to Encina for some help. The staff were super friendly and willing to help. I’ve previously gone to Mike’s Bikes, but I found Encina to be so much more helpful and WAY more reasonably priced. Will definitely be giving my future bike business to Encina.

These guys were awesome. In and out in seven minutes for a tube repair and they added in a bunch extra stuff for no charge. Really happy with the service

Great bike shop. I first went here over a year ago after going to 3 other bike shops looking for a part for a bike I bought online. They searched and found it and then didn’t even charge me. So when my son’s cheap Chinese tranformer bike was too small I went here to get a good quality bike. We found a great bike at a really good price. My son wanted a bell as well. They put on the bell and tightened everything up. I was in and out within 20 minutes and everyone was really nice.
Bottom line: Great service and great prices. I’m going to buy a bike for my wife and I so we can ride with our son. Buying them here for sure.

My husband and I just bought two bikes from here and the customer service is superb! The guys working here are super helpful, knowledgeable, and kind. This was our first «real» mountain bike buying experience, so we had lots of questions and needed advice. We are extremely satisfied with the bikes that they recommended and I never felt like they were trying to up sell me or anything. All the new bikes come with a lifetime tune up, which is pretty sweet too. Overall, we had a great experience and I would highly recommend checking this place out.

I didn’t know about this bike shop so ended up buying my new Nomad form Mike’s Bike in Walnut Creek. However my carbon fiber wheels didn’t come with the appropriate stickers and Mike’s bike still after almost 9 months didn’t provide me with the stickers. I met Chris from Encina Bike and within 3 – 4 days a got a full set of the stickers. I was super happy to get what I wanted for over 9 months within a few days.
From now on my business goes to Chris!

A note on Encina Bikes new bike fit studio–
I’ve been riding a relatively short amt of time (since 2011). I just bought my first new bike after riding a Specialized Allez from Craigslist for 3 yrs. I took my Lynskey R255 in to Encina Bikes for a fitting. Normally, they charge $ 250 for a fit, but we (DV2 members) get $ 100 discount and 15% off parts. I fit myself to my old bike using Youtube videos, which kept me from having pain when I rode, but I discovered how inefficient and cramped I was after being professionally fit.
Encina did a great job. They have a fit studio in a warehouse near their shop. The process took about 3 hours, and none of it was really wasted time. They use the Specialized fit method and measured everything from the feet on up. They assured good cleat placement, proper arch support, crank arm length, natural hip flexibility and paid a lot of attention to how much weight was on my hands. They didn’t throw parts at me. My stem, crank and seatpost setback were all correct. They recommended a wider seat and the comfort difference was immediately noticable. The only other part they recommended was a shoe insert, since my shoes had none. The inserts seemed pricey ($ 50), but that’s the cost elsewhere.
If you haven’t been fit for your bike, Encina is the place to go. They are professional and they really got things perfect on the first try. I highly recommend them!

Extremely courteous, capable staff.
They fixed my Dahon Speed Uno handlebar wiggle and seat post sliding on the spot. I didn’t have an appointment and I came in pretty close to their closing time.
I’d bring my bike here again for repairs in a heartbeat.
