History

Established in 1983.

Inviting Ways (originally named Calligraphy Corner for it’s first 23 years) was started by Micki Lobanoff. It began as a calligraphy hobby in the corner of her kitchen. She began by designing a unique birth announcement for a friend and it wasn’t long before she was getting calls for other types of orders. In 1988, Micki and her husband David decided that her «hobby» had outgrown the confines of their Walnut Creek home and opened up their store in Downtown Walnut Creek. By this time, David had left his job in the banking industry to combine efforts with Micki and build the successful family business that has been a staple of downtown Walnut Creek for many years. Micki and David’s children (Tara & Matthew) were involved in the business since it’s inception. Tara has pursued her career as an Elementary School Teacher and stay-​at-​home mother. In 2004, Matthew joined the family business on a full-​time basis with plans to continue the «family» business for generations to come!

These guys are awesome! I just received my wedding invitations and they are beyond perfect. Everything they promised to be and more. They look so much more expensive then they actually were, which is awesome. The team answered all my zillion questions quickly and they are very friendly (but still professional) which put me at ease when placing my order. The turn around time was really quick, I had the proof in my inbox within 2 days. The website was easy to use so I was able to customize my invitations to get exactly what I needed. Would absolutely recommend Inviting Ways and will definitely use them again!

I used Inviting Ways for my wedding invitations, table cards & charts, wedding programs, and menus after a recommendation from my sister who also used them for her wedding in 2009. Very happy I did! Micki did a wonderful job across the board. I received so many compliments on my invitations (and everything else as well). They turned out beautifully.
Micki was very friendly and helpful. She even let me borrow a stand for my table chart which was a very big and heavy mirror — saved me hassle and $!

I called her to make an appointment and scheduled an appointment on the next day.
Next day, she was not in the office so I left a voicemail.
A few hours later, Micki called me with an upset voice, saying that the appointment is not today. Then, her next word was, still with the strong, upset tone, «do you want to reschedule?»
I don’t know if she totally forgot about the appointment or somehow marked a different day, but in either way, as there is no written confirmation of an appointment or anything, she should have at least say sorry for the inconvenience and apologize for wasting our time.
Anyways, I can not trust her and I have to say that she should learn how to deal with customers.

Micki truly made choosing my wedding invitations a positive experience. She really helped every step of the way (design, wording, etc.). She willingly worked with my budget and I ended up with beautiful invitations. I will definitely use her again for other wedding paper goods and in the future. I would recommend working with her highly!

Micki is amazing and I feel blessed to have found her for my wedding invite. My budget was not big for the invites but I new I wanted something classy and unique. I did not want pre-​printed like Minted. I loved working with her and I loved picking out every detail of our invite. But Micki was great at giving m advice and I walked thru my choices. I loved that she helped me stay in budget by allowing me to assemble all my own invites. I received SO many compliments on them, people thought they cost a fortune. If you are still looking I would set up an appt RIGHT now. I want Micki to help me do other invites in the future.

They are awesome!
We got our wedding invitations, table numbers & thank you notes from them. Micki helped us design everything & she did a fabulous job. When we sent out our invitations we had guest calling us to tell us how beautiful, handsome (hehe, our priest) elegant, gorgeous etc. they were. I had to tell people I couldn’t take credit for them, it was all Micki. We looked for the colors we wanted & verbiage, but she really put them together for us.
They were very easy to work with & got things done fast.
I would use them for any printing needs I have in the future.

This mom and pap shop is great. Micki and the rest of the staff are so accommodating, easy to work with, and they know their stuff. I’m getting married in July, and I went there with a vague idea as to what type of invitation I wanted. They had a good variety of books and styles from which to choose. Invitations can be super expensive, but Micki gave us good suggestions, such as using vellum inserts, that helped us keep costs down but without losing the elegance of the invitation. Thanks, Inviting Ways!

Love this place! Great customer service, large selection, custom cards available, etc… I had inviting ways do my wedding menu cards! Beautiful! They were perfect! I’m currently looking into having them do my baby shower invites and then baby announcements. I am a customer for life!

Noreen is a gem and this place is great! A small shop and personal service with a huge selection as well as custom invitations. They helped us with all the printing for our wedding. Save the dates, invitations, programs, favor tags, etc. They even helped us design some custom pieces. Noreen was great at making suggestions when we got overwhelmed with designz. She made sure everything was coordinated and looked just right. She also made recommendations on ways we could save money without sacrificing style. Everything was done correctly, on time, and the communication was always wonderful. They were perhaps our favorite wedding vendor! Can’t wait to find another excuse to work with them again.

I was referred to this awesome place by a wedding coordinator. She told me that not only would the staff be super helpful and considerate but I could expect to find a great deal. She was right! I initially came in here thinking that I wanted to spend the least amount of money on wedding invitations but after seeing their beautiful selection of invitations I changed my mind! Noreen was so patient with my mother and I, we ended up staying for 3 hours because we were having so much fun and lost track of time. We finally decided that we wanted to custom make our own invitations and so Noreen helped us pick out different paper, envelopes and designs. I highly recommend this place, my mother and I felt right at home!

Gee, why hasn’t anyone reviewed this store yet? It’s one of the only in-​person full-​service/​extensive stationery stores around!
That said, I had a great experience selecting wedding invites and the accompanying pieces. I came in with a slight advantage in that I’ve sold the stuff elsewhere, in «another life». So I knew which brands, style, and price point I wanted. Help was certainly available though, and come ordering time – it was fast, systematic and easy! I got proofs via email, and the goodies were ready for pickup about two weeks after ordering. Yay!

We love this place. They have everything you want. They also do very nice custom work, which is what we chose. Very very reasonable prices for custom work. We had our Save the Date, Wedding invitations, rehearsal dinner, and Menus printed here so far. Very reasonable costs. Excellent and very helpful staff. I can’t tell you how many times we go in and just get 1 or 2 extra envelopes, invitations, changes to dates done almost daily. They are so accommodating and very fast. Friendliest and most helpful and genuine people around.
