Matthew focuses on elder law, estate planning, and related practice areas. He began his career in the field of trusts and estates, and expanded into elder and probate law. He quickly realized that he enjoyed the personal nature of working in estate and elder law, and chose to continue by opening his own firm.

He is passionate about taking care of his clients, and treats each of them as if they were family.

Matthew was admitted to the California bar in 2006 and has practiced law in Contra Costa Country since 2006. He earned his J.D. at the University of San Francisco. He earned his Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of California Berkeley.

I recently retained Mr. Talbot as my attorney to help produce trust documents and a will for myself. He was patient and helpful — throughly explaining my options and the reasoning behind why and how certain documents are written in a certain manner.
His explanations were backed with personal experience and legal reasoning and they helped me to clarify my needs and requirements.

I’ve recently had an experience that I am compelled to share with others so they can avoid the pain and cost caused me by Matt. I went to him with a serious estate matter and very specific goals. He said he was capable and willing to handle my matter. He did nothing for almost seven months — he did not formulate strategy, provide advice, or take any action whatsoever to protect my beloved elder, her estate or me as her trustee. Yet, his bills kept coming. He billed me for my efforts to get him to do something/​anything! When I asked him point blank if he was ever going to do anything on my matter, he said he would send me a letter of substitution of attorney. His behavior towards me was uncaring and unprofessional. I allowed him a number of chances to perform but he chose to do nothing while a 91 year old was — and still is — in danger.

I think I’m having the opposite of a mid-​life crisis. I’m planning to do all sorts of responsible things. Things I never used to think about. I will be getting serious about boring things. I will be getting a more sensible car: less power, more safety. I will be getting my legal affairs in order.
So I’ve picked out a lawyer I can trust to help me with this: Attorney Matthew Talbot. I’ve worked with Matt in the past when he was a part of a larger law firm that specialized in Elder Law. Back then he helped me look over some documents concerning a conservatorship.
I met with him today to get his help in planning my mid-​life (what’s the opposite of a crisis?) and things are feeling good now. I’m in the state of mind where I feel good about my legal status and am ready to move on to some of the more challenging aspects of growing up.
