Vanessa has practiced exclusively in the area of family law throughout her legal career. She is experienced in handling divorce matters, parentage actions, domestic partnership dissolutions, child custody disputes, spousal and child support actions, prenuptial agreements and domestic violence defense and prevention. In addition, Vanessa handles cases from low conflict to complex matters. She is skilled in complex property division and contentious custody battles. Vanessa protects her clients’ assets and the best interests of her clients and their children. Vanessa Candelaria is a Bay Area native and attended schools in the Peninsula before settling in the East Bay. Prior to earning her Juris Doctorate degree from Golden Gate University, Vanessa earned dual degrees in English and Psychology and Social Behavior and a minor in Political Science from the University of California — Irvine. At Golden Gate University, Vanessa was accepted into the Honors Lawyering Program and she was a judicial extern for retired family law Commissioner, Marjorie Slabach, of the San Francisco Unified Family Court.
Vanessa is also an active member of the legal community. She was President of the Filipino Bar Association of Northern California (FBANC), a District Representative for the American Bar Association Young Lawyer’s Division and was a former Co-Chair of the Family Law Section of the San Mateo County Bar Association. She is a member of Contra Costa County Bar Association and Alameda County Bar Association.
