LOFT

I had to return a number of items from an online order. The woman who helped me was efficient, friendly, and helpful. I tried on some other items while there and purchased a few things on sale (and one nice pair of pants not on sale!). I appreciated how helpful everyone was I also like the way they can quickly look things up on their iPads. They have nice clothing that are great for work. I’m going to give a similar review for the SF Embarcadero store.

I wasnt planning on stopping here since the reviews were so negative but I’m glad I did. The 3 ladies working today were pleasant and helpful. I found everything I saw online that I wanted and then some. I also saved 60% on all my items. It was a win win for me :). This was my first time here and I’ve gone to Emcardeno center location in SF 3x and they never have anything. So I’m hopeful.

I actually really LOVE Loft stores and miss my favorite one in my hometown! This loft was just terrible. I keep seeing negative reviews for the same woman, whom I likely had the same interaction with (the «stony faced blonde» previously mentioned). Their computers were down and I could not return my items I had previously ordered online (which I drove 45 minutes on my only day off to return). I expressed my frustration in a way not at all directed at her (a general ugh I am not driving to Pleasant statement) and mentioned that I work 12 hours a day 5 – 6 days a week (you know… as a doctor in a pediatric setting) often work weird hours and cannot return items. She did the weirdest and most unprofessional thing: «Well I do too!!!» said defensively. Look lady, why are you comparing yourself with me? Just empathize and offer some solutions instead of singing me, ‘too bad so sad’ song and making it weirdly about you. I said «Well, I work a real job and can’t leave» (being on call sucks) she got red-​faced angry and said «Well this is a real job.» Again, this is not about you lady. At this point I came to understand she was like 42 years old and working at Loft for a reason. (It wasn’t about you but boy did it become about you.)
After pissing me off thoroughly, I left her area but did not leave far enough to not catch a peek at her conversation with a co-​worker. Very unprofessional. Commenting about our interaction and making a somewhat racist and sizest comment about me. I returned and confronted her… asked her who her manager was. She, of course, dodged the question twice and finally gave in saying it was «Peter.»
I apologized to her if something I said hurt her feelings and that I was going to speak to her manager about her behavior. She got defensive and eventually offered to mail my package for me. I didn’t trust her so I said «No, thanks.» She seems super shady.
If indeed this woman is a manager, Ann Taylor Loft needs to re-​think their practices. I encourage all people with negative experiences to refer to management so that people like this can find work they are more suitable for or learn to correct their behavior.
You know, I have worked in retail from age 16 to 26 and understand it is difficult and know that this woman is making it more difficult for herself by her piss-​poor attitude. She made my shopping experience a nightmare.
Never again WC Loft. Will drive to Emeryville or Pleasanton or Fresno next time.

Fair prices in the clearance sections, good selection of clothes, sales people don’t pressure you to buy anything, the place is clean and well lit, ample space to navigate, and it’s never crowded. It’s overall good, but there’s no courtesy waiting chair for men, children, the elderly, or people with disabilities. I’m forced to stand for minutes on end while the wife shops… Terrible.

I don’t recall the managers name, all I seem to remember is what an arrogant, ignorant, simple minded bag of **** she was. Rude to no end without any sense of customer service, common curtesy, or decency towards her customers, and from what I noticed, her employees.
I don’t expect much from an employee at a clothing store, I mean, you stack pants for a living. All I expect is an equal level of respect that I give to a stranger. No chance of that at this location. I would avoid this place, or at least avoid asking any questions if you must shop at this particular location.

Slim picking for short curvy women… And lie– say you have a credit card but that you don’t want to use it this time for whatever reason. They will push and push till you rudely ask them to STOP offering a credit card! I don’t want one! And even then she had to have the last word about how much I could be saving. Thanks but no thanks! I don’t need yet another credit card! jeez! You don’t even carry my size!

I really like the clothes here, however, I cant say the same about the service. They are not accomodating and cashiers need to be trained better at dealing with customers and try to first understand what it is that the customer is asking for before running a transaction incorrectly and wasting everyones time. I came here to return something with my 14 mo old son and bag full of shopping. Cashier ran the transaction incorrectly and had to let him know $ is supposed to go back to my card if I am returning something! He didnt seem to understand that so this girl had to step in who was no better, absolutely no customer service whatsoever! To top it all off, they took back my cash rewards just like that since I returned an item. Never heard of such a thing?!! Is Loft really that stingy?! I was quite surprised by that since I shop at loft quite a bit (online and Embarcadero location so much better customer servixe there) and had purchase other items for which I didnt get cash credit. Anyway, i didnt care because their attitude just stank and i just wanted to get out of there. Would rather go to the embarcadero store or shop online than come here.

I love Ann Taylor LOFT, but just not this store. I needed to return a few items that I purchased online and the minute I walked away from the counter, the girl who was helping me started gossiping about me to her coworkers. She was fake nice again when I walked up to a different cashier to purchase an item and grabbed the item away from the cashier whom I had approached. It’s pretty obvious that the girls are on commission here, but not in a good way.
I recommend coming here only to figure out what your size is and then buying what you want online when it’s 50%-75% off; I’ve seen the t-​shirts go on sale for $ 6 and have purchased $ 15-​$ 25 skirts and dresses. If you sign up for Ann Taylor LOFT emails online, they’ll let you know when the sales are. This store usually runs out of XS, S, and petite sizes, and there’s a girl who loudly gossips about customers while they’re shopping.

This place is a mess and no one here ever offers to help you. Every time I buy a t-​shirt from this place it gets little holes in it. The quality is awful. Save yourself time and money and shop better quality with sales people who know what they are doing!

Came here to look for a specific dress that I saw online and it was 40% off the entire store. My first time in the store and I have to say that I really liked my experince here.
It was basically empty in the store. The store was very organized and clean. Sales rep were friendly and helpful. I did find what I was looking for and made a purchase.

I have a love/​hate relationship with Loft stores in general. Their styles meet my business casual or office casual needs and when they have sales I like to stock up. Their pieces range from classy/​trendy to casual/​trendy but work for the 30 and 40 something sets (I won’t say which I am :))
That all being said, I find that this location has a few issues which keep me from spending my hard earned dollars here:
1.) lack of sizes-​I have to buy petite length pants and while they do have a petite section, they don’t stock decent inventory of most sizes. They tend to run heavy on 00P or 2P but not much for the average sized woman.
2.) general lack of inventory as compared to the Loft web site-I’ll see something online I want to pick up and they might have one in stock-​either in an XS or XL
3.) overall general lack of customer service-​the ladies who work here range from disinterested to downright rude… I’ve never had a good service experience here-​at least on the floor-​the cashiers tend to be a bit nicer.
Overall, I still stop in to browse their clearance racks, especially when they have one of their frequent 40% sales. Lately, though I’ve been disappointed in Loft’s faltering quality and recycling of past styles (by revamping them with random lace, bows or, different colors to try and pass it off as new.) It’s not the stores fault, but I’m just not enthusiastic about shopping here-​add some lackluster customer care and it’s not a must stop in my WC shopping adventures-​more like a necessary evil if I’m on the lookout for work clothes…

While the store often has nice clothes, the staff is rude and insolent. The manager is not any better. While customers are milling around, trying to find someone to help them, staff is often over in a corner talking to each other. If you want to shop here, make sure you give yourself plenty of time, as it often takes awhile to get any assistance, and that includes at the register.

Against my better judgement, I entered the Loft store in Walnut Creek, CA with my mother and aunt. We were searching for items to wear to my brother’s upcoming wedding. I have had negative experiences in this particular location before, but my aunt really wanted an outfit. We were treated with heinous disrespect by sales clerks and management. It was terrible. I had a coupon sent to me by Corporate in order to make up for another incident in this store. The manager, a stony face blond woman very rudely told me that the coupon was not for store use.
I used to work for the Ann Companies as a clerk and a manager. Had I treated a customer like that I would have been banned from the corporation for life. I know I was mistaken to think that I would be treated with respect after my last visit. Unfortunately, management lived up to my expectations. There was no one in the store at the time and the associates REFUSED to assist us.
Suffice it to say, I WILL NEVER VISIT THAT STORE AGAIN.
Being treated rudely once is forgivable, but it has been a continuous pattern with this particular store’s staff.
I will not be giving my business there, except to return online items.

If i could give zero 0 star i would because this particular LOFT definitely deserves it.
I called in on a tuesday to put 3 items on hold and called back on wednesday to let them know i will pick the items on thursday instead and the manager said okay.
So i drove 50 miles and had to sit 2 hours in traffic just to pick up my stuff on hold.
Surprise! Surprise! They DO NOT have them. They could NOT find them. They DO NOT know if someone put them back on the floor.
OMG! You could just imagine my shock when i was hearing all these lame excuses from the manager!
This is by far the WORST retail experience i’ve had in my entire life!
Not only did they not seem to EMPATHIZE, APOLOGIZE OR SYMPATHIZE with me. They were emotionless with a «DO NOT CARE» attitude and a smirk on their faces.
Loft Customer service sucks! would be the understatement of the year!
Loft in general has really bad customer service anyway.
I am stupid to even consider shopping at this store.
But to make a customer drive 2 hours and tell her «We don’t know what happened to the items you put on hold»…“Maybe someone put them back on display”.
Hello??? Obvioulsy! Unless the pair of pants and belts miraculously and magically walked from the hold closet to the floor display area!!!

Not the best LOFT by any stretch of the means. The woman in the dressing room was fueding with her coworker from the sales floor, who was relaying drama to a third associate. The cashier was pleasant and very helpful considering the line spanned the entire store (40% off sale).
Love the product, great work clothes, but this location has always been lacking in service.

I hate this place. They send me a ton of emails telling me about all the specials and then I go there and they essentially remove my wallet from my purse and take it from me. Nice thing is that the stuff is cute and they pretty much ALWAYS have sales, so you can find some great deals.
I always get great service when I come here.

Love this location of The Loft so far. They always have the best selection and so many different options! They give great service that doesn’t annoy you when you’re just trying to browse. They are always having great sales and let you know when they are. I used to work in this area so I went in here about once a week and it ALWAYS made my day better!

Great selection for those of us too old to visit Forever 21! haha. The clothes are cute and great for both work and fun… plus not as expensive as Nordstroms!

Good prices and very liberal sizing. The store is nice, spacious and not crowded with too many clearance clothes.
The clothes and jewelry are great for a casual and casual/​dressy wardrobe (weekend and work). They have petites too. I haven’t tried their shoes, but they don’t look that comfortable.
My BIGGEST complaint is that the prices fluctuate a lot. One day, I spent over $ 250 and then within a week, the same items would have cost me over $ 100 LESS. SOOO, I went back to the store, returned and rebought my sale items and got a price adjustment on the regular price items. That is their policy… and as long as they have more of your size (they will), you can get the money back.
I would recommend that if you love something, go ahead and buy it, because it’s not THAT expensive. If you like it but it’s full price, watch it online or in the store and wait for it to go on sale. Also, get on their mailing list (email) to get exclusive savings.
The service is spotty, like any retail store, some ladies are SUPER helpful and run around the store finding you new shirts and ideas for your wardrobe, while others are at the register and lifeless.

I got stellar service here! I had been in another location and found an item I wanted, but that location didn’t have it in my size. They also didn’t have time to call another location for me. I went home thinking I would order it online, but then thought I might be in Walnut Creek in a day or two. I called this location gave them the info I had from the item online. They found the item and then held it for me.
I came into the store the next day with my two little ones, in their big double stroller and was generously helped with the door to enter. They had the item waiting for me, and the young lady helped me find a few other items I love! I was taken care of quickly and efficiently and given that extra help with my little ones, as this store is not very stroller friendly.
Good selection of items, neat, clean and friendly service! Yay!
