Specialties
I am an artist specializing in figurative work, landscape studio work and plein air painting. I do commissioned work from photo reference or life. I work in my own loose realistic style with much consideration for composition of light and dark, color and movement. I also teach painters of all levels in the use and exploration of acrylic paints and the development of authentic personal style.
History
Established in 2011.
I have always identified with art. My father was a graphic designer, so art seemed natural. I am intrigued by science, but art won. I have a degree in Painting from the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana. I moved to California to take a course in stained glass and fell in love with the Bay Area. I opened the Edible Complex, Ramona’s, Toot Sweets Bakery amongst other food businesses with my husband. I switched from Oils to Acrylics during that time, as I continued to paint. In 2002, I rented a small studio space behind Toot Sweets, in Lafayette. I started teaching there. When a larger space opened in the same shopping center in 2004 I started the Lafayette Studio with the Lamorinda Arts Alliance. It was a wonderful experience. In 2010, I sold the bakery and relinquished the directorship of the Lafayette Studio. I am very pleased to have a private studio where I can paint and teach. My classes are ongoing, two days a week, 4 – 9 students. New history, and fun.
