The pizza is very flavorful, consistently. No comparison to the corporate franchises… The guys are on task and focused on taking care of business, I don’t go there for a Kumbyah moment, it’s a no-nonsense, environment, «here’s your pizza, c– ya.» type deal. Works for me, they do pizza right, they seem committed to quality. I can see where«Muffy & Biff» might be crushed and pouting about the size or the demeanor, hey, it’s NEWYORKPIZZA”, not Beverly Hills 90210 pizza, no cutesy«Alvarado & bean sprout» pizza’s. Order out, the place has 3 tables, almost on top of each other, the upside, no kids running wild like lil retards screaming, fast delivery too. Try it, you’ll like it,

Yuck. Oily, greasy, limp pizza. Maybe if it is midnight and you are kinda drunk, it doesn’t matter but the pizza here was bad. Never again. Oh, and bus the tables and wipe them off once in a while, please

This is where you go after going to the bars in walnut creek. I’m not sure I would go for the pizza otherwise. It does stay open super late, the pizza slices are HUGE and the food is cheap. The pizza is good. During the day I would just recommend other gourmet pizza places over this one if you were comparing to other pizza places in downtown walnut creek.

I was in downtown Walnut Creek one day and my friend and I were looking for places to eat for cheap. We wanted to eat at this mexican restaurant on the same block but saw that it only has 2 stars and kinda got freaked out by the reviews so we went here. Every time I had walked by this place there would always be a lot of people inside. We walked inside and were the only ones there. We ordered a small cheese pizza which could feed three people easily but me and friend ended up eating the whole thing and were completely stuffed afterwards. The pizza was surprisingly great. The service was okay. Not awesome and not bad. By the time we were leaving it was beginning to get busy. So all in all I guess I would recommend this place.

My boyfriend and I were hungry. We wanted something to eat after walking around in the sun and of course after drinking a beer at Pyramid. There was no one inside the place when we walked in. And the pizzas were definitely big. But what was off was I was tasting more of the burnt crust then the actual pizza. Don’t get me wrong, it hit the spot for the moment, but yes, I have had better.

Good, fresh pizza(whole) and open late :) If you’re not drunk or going last minute, call in and skip the post-party line.

My familys favorite pizza place for New York thin crust pizza. The sauce is excellent. For us the sauce is almost everything, and we always ask for extra sauce. If you like a quantity of cheese you will need to ask for more cheese when you order. We always put garlic on as one of the toppings on our pizzas — always a good choice. The owner is very nice, and always greats us with a smile. We used to eat at his old location just down the street where the walnut creek yacht club restaurant is now. The new location is now right next to The San Franicisco Ice Creamery. They always have some special going on, just check the window, or check on the counter for their coupons. They will let you use the coupons. Sorry to say the restaurant was sold, then the pizza went down hill. The location is now a mexican restaurant.

Went here at 1AM after hanging out at Lift Lounge. Basically, when you order a slice of pizza(~$ 5), they take a slice of pre-cooked cheese pizza, add your toppings, and reheat it. Sounds gross, but it tastes pretty good. Not to mention, the slice is huge. Bathrooms are nice and clean. Staff is bored and annoyed. Probably because 75% of their customers are post-bar hopping drunkies looking to satisfy their munchies.

A made to order slice here means you get a day old slice that’s already been cooked sprinkled with fresh cheese and warmed in the oven. Whoever thinks this pizza is good is a fool and has no taste buds. Doesnt even suffice as decent when you are wasted. I know a guy who worked there and he said it’s filthy. Rats running in the kitchen and bugs everywhere. How dare they call this New York gourmet pizza, what a joke

Considering that this is downtown Walnut Creek, this was PERFECT. The pizza was ridiculously thin and delicious, and the service was unbeatable. I’m taking ALL my friends here, but I hope it doesn’t get too popular. I hate long lines, as selfish as that is.

BS — basically 5 bucks for a slice — tradional style NY Pizza & Foldable! — Cashier was really rude and not very sociable — pizza was decent I used to go to the old location but since it’s moved next door to the old san francisco creamery, I’ve only been here twice. I really loved this NY Pizza location before but I was really disappointed when I came here Friday night. The cashier was really sloppy looking and quite rude. Not very warm or sociable at all. I was actually really surprised because the old cashier at the old location was super cool and he usually hooked it up. My bff said that the chef usually hooks him up but made no comment on the horrible cashier. The pizza itself was alright. Honestly it wasn’t that good. Not compared to the places I’ve been going lately. I hope that this place gets its act together next time I go. And definitely get rid of the horrible cashier(description: heavy set Asian girl with glasses). The restaurant had like dirty tables everywhere. I basically wiped off our own table. And then I saw her just like trying to clean but doing such a horrible job. I really don’t want to judge NY Pizza on this ONE person but I’ll be thinking about her everytime I think about going there again. We’ll see if I’m downtown again in Walnut Creek… Even still everyone raves about Pyramid’s pizza and I’ve ate leftovers and they were bomb. So good luck going here. I’m going to try not to lose hope for it, but the parking situation is RIDICULOUS in downtown Walnut Creek.

I went here the other night with my family. When I first walked in, I was a little confused with the ordering. I have always experienced«pizza by the slices» places as ready made pizzas, where you point and they slide the slice on a plate, but here you can choose from a list of toppings for just one piece of pizza. It was nice having more options than pepperoni or cheese. Overall, it was just alright. The service wasn’t great, but It didn’t seem like they were trying hard to impress customers either. The pizza slices are HUGE though! Seriously, if we would have known they were a foot long we would have just bought one to share between my mom and I. The pizza was just okay though; Not great, but not bad. The Caesar Salad was very tasty though. I would probably check it out again if I were close by, but wouldn’t drive 15 minutes out of the way for it.

Went there last night between a Target run and cocktails with some East Bay girlfriends for a quick pre-drink dinner. Totally delicious. Loved that the crust was really crispy and slices are made to order. Definitely had a little of that PIzza Hut oiliness which isn’t «authentic» but sure does make for a tasty slice. Friendly service and you can’t beat the $ 6.99 slice, salad, and soda. I wish they delivered across the bay…

I’ve been getting pizza here for years, and I understand why so many people say this is sort of «hit or miss.» It’s decent pizza, considering we don’t have many options around here.(I’ve not tried the East Coast Pizza that so many people are suddenly raving about.) I did get a pizza here last night, and it was actually GOOD! There was finally detectable sauce on it, and the crust was done just right. I also appreciate that they make their salads for you fresh, unlike most pizza chains. Their ceasar was good and tasted very fresh… I find that the service is pretty consistent here. What the hell. It ain’t Marcello’s in the Castro(which is PERFECTPIZZA), but it will do.

Best service ever! My friend and I got water with our pizza and the owner was nice enough to come over and asked if he could refill it for us. Also since the slices are huge, many people resort to the fork and knife strategy. Although plenty of guys are too masculine for the fork and knife and try to fold their pizza like authentic New Yorkers. haha

Very convenient when you are shopping downtown and want a quick slice for lunch. The slices are HUGE but always less-than-fresh tasting. From what I can tell, after you order, they put your toppings on an earlier-cooked cheese slice, then throw it in the oven for a few minutes. It comes out tasting like a reheated slice of pizza… which of course it is. Not bad but not great. I prefer places where there are a few fresh options rather than a lot of un-fresh options. If you order a full pizza, it is pretty good. A lot better than the slices, but that is to be expected anywhere I suppose. Usually unimpressed with the staff but I’ve been there a few times when a manager/owner type guy was there and he was extremely friendly.

I have tried many pizza places around Walnut Creek.(My brother and I are lazy… what can I say) And this one works the best for me. Though they’re a bit expensive for the amount, I like the fact that the pizza isn’t heavy. Thin crust, small amounts of sauce and a good serving of toppings make it easy for me to eat and not feel sick afterwards. Their pasta is also quite good for a fast food type of thing. They have garlic bread, which is okay and their delivery is free and quite fast. Their website is user friendly too, unlike Extreme’s which I hate.

True story: I’ve eaten«Christmas dinner» at this place the last wo years in a row. Thanks guys for being open when no one else is! And thanks for having huge, thin crust slices with a nice spicy tomato sauce and putting millions of mushrooms on my slice. I’d like to especially thank you for the late night my boyfriend came in starving to death and you bumped our order ahead of the twenty severely irritating drunk people that had stumbled over from Crogan’s so we didn’t have endure those loud morons for very long. Thanks!

When there’s a mural of the Statue of Liberty in a restaurant claiming to be authentic«NY Pizza», that’s a sign(technically she’s in NJ)…all is not what you think it is… I waited until my second trip to write about the food just in case they were having a bad day. Nope, it’s just OK and definitely not NY style… more like elegant Pizza Hut. It almost felt like home ordering from the waitress/cashier with the decidedly Bronx-roll-your-eyes-whatEVER attitude. But when she announced the cheese-choking price of $ 20.00(gasp!) for the pie(yes, that’s what NYers call their pizzas) it made me want to start slinging dough around in my own kitchen. You may find that this pizza is the best in WC… but that, my dears, does not make it NY pizza…

I told the man I was from NY, and I meant it. Oh, you’ll love it he says. Right. The good — the flavor was good, and the crust was thin. It smelled good in the car, driving home. Compared to Rocco’s, the only other pizza I’ve had in Walnut Creek, it was better tasting. The bad — I opened the box and was stunned. A weird looking round crust like something you’d find at Safeway, not a typical pizza crust. Thin, yes, but not crispy. What’s with California prices people? A large pie in NY is around $ 12. Here I’m paying $ 17.99 for a «extra large» cheese pie that is considerably smaller than its NY cousin. I may return here, and ask for it to be well done. And the«menu» they gave me has all kinds of discounts, to the tune of $ 5 or more off. Why not just price it fairly to begin with? The menu says that the owner honed his cooking skills in Wisconsin. I don’t think that’s something you want to brag about, especially to a NYer.
