History
Established in 1978.
Monica Adler and Garrison Traver started by selling at the original Alameda fleamarket, located at a drive-in theatre which no longer exists. After a couple years selling at the market, we decided to open a store in El Cerrito in May of 1978.
After 2 years in EC, we discovered an antique collective that opened in Concord so we closed our store and rented a space. The next 6 years, we were in as many as six collectives at the same time.
By 1986, we wanted to get back to running our own store. We found a location on Mt Diablo Blvd in Walnut Creek and did business there for 3 years. The builiding was slated to be torn down so we relocated a half mile away to our present location were we’ve been for nearly 22 years.
