The Mac Mechanics started in the early 90’s as a division of Mac Methods in Walnut Creek, California. Mac Methods offered computer consulting and database design. Mac Mechanics became a separate business in 2004, when we hired our first Apple Certified Desktop Technician. We serve the East Bay, working with local businesses and developing the Mac community.

I have been using Macs since the beginning of the product line. Apple never ceases to amaze me with their creative, simple innovations. We are in the midst of a changing computer culture from PCs to Macs, in homes, schools, and offices. Apple’s market share is at an all-​time high and this growth is not stopping any time soon.

Robert was great. I like how he phrased it if they try and service both types of computers stay away. Apple products are different enough you are best served by a Mac only specialist. It was so helpful having him know how to clean up our three year old Mac.

Excellent service and knowledge. Robert quickly assessed my computer issues and corrected the deficiencies. He also gave recommendations on what we could do to improve the speed of our older Mac. I believe his fee is a fair cost for the expertise he possess. Kudos to Robert a businessman you can trust!

To Say Robert knows what he is doing, would be underestimating his ability. Its not just about being technical and understanding Apple, is having the passion and being honest with delivery. He is ABSOLUTELY Great.
He runs a great business, his integrity and honesty is very evident by his judgment and his diagnosis, and final recommendation.

Robert is terrific at his work and clearly loves it. He is being a huge help to me and I am learning about computers for the first time in the 20 years I’ve been forced to use them. He genuinely wants his customers to get the most out of their devices, he is enthusiastic and keeps it very simple. Can’t say enough good things, but if you need help, this is the place!

I’m a elderly computer dummy. I’ll give ten stars to Robert. I had a few technical issues with my IMac, mainly one which I needed to upgrade version 10.6.8 to 10.7.5 or later. He down loaded an upgraded OS X version (Mavericks). He made several other adjustments and improvements to my computer, printer set-​ups, etc. He didn’t talk «computerese» which I appreciated and could understand. I had called him late Saturday and he said he would be at my house 10:30, Monday morning. He was exactly on time. The cost to me was extremely fair; I really got my money’s worth.

Robert is awesome. He is professional, knowledgable, and affordable.
My Macbook pro had a hard drive that was dying. He pointed me to a place that offers affordable solid state drives that are faster than the drives that come with newer macbooks. I ordered my drive, it showed up the next day, Robert came over and installed the drive then extracted everything off my dying drive. Now my machine is completely intact (all applications and settings). Plus now it is lightning fast.
I highly recommend Robert.

Whether you are technologically challenged (like me) or a sophisticated early adapter, Robert is an amazing resource. He has expertise with both computers and complicated home entertainment systems. This is increasingly important as they become more and more entwined with all the wireless devices and streaming options now available. He has solved every computer issue we have had come up and been responsive with any follow up questions. Robert recently updated and installed our new home entertainment system after suggesting three different price points for us to consider. He is smart, skilled, and a pleasure to work with.

Excellent repair service. Apple expert and excellent prices. Lots of integrity with the pricing — I needed both a hard drive and the screen replaced on my iMac. In order to replace the hard drive, one must remove the screen. Robert did not charge for the screen replacement labor as he had to remove and re-​install anyway. Many of his competitors would have charged labor for this which is a ridiculous rip-​off.

I called Robert after my Mac Mini hard drive died a rather quick death, and he came to my house the next day, cheerfully repaired the drive with one I had already purchased and followed up with me later that evening, just to make sure all was well. I appreciated how friendly Robert is, and he strikes me as a trustworthy, competent guy. The price was fair, the service excellent, and now everything is working again, as expected.
Highly recommended. And this is coming from somebody with a long background in tech, and who doesn’t let just anybody mess with my stuff. Thanks Robert!

I had an issue with my computer, called him he came right over the same day. Didn’t feel over charged at all… He was very Apple savvy and even helped in areas I didn’t know I needed!
