Zebra Tattoo and body piercing

My daughter had her belly button pierced for her 18^th b-​day. As usually we had the best service at Zebra. They are always so helpful and friendly. Thanks to Dom and Kristina for their great service.

I was a complete non-​tattoo type person for 60 years, until I woke up from a sound sleep knowing in my heart that I had to get one in honor of my mother who I lost more than 8 months ago. It’s been a real journey.
I decided to check Zebra out first, since I had always heard good things about them. Honestly, though, I really did not know what to expect. I find first impressions super important as my gut tries to immediately decide whether to stay or leave! I could not have been met by a more welcoming group than the ‘front desk’ at Zebra. A special shout out to Amanda, who was fabulous. She listened intently as to why I was there and then steered me toward whom she felt would be the right fit for me. That person was tattoo artist, Brian Richter.
First and foremost, Brian is a nice person. A modest guy, he comes across confident that he can deliver; exactly what you want in anyone that you’re entrusting with something deeply important to you. Brian listened very carefully, needed some degree of patience throughout, has real kindness in him, and also has a very nice sense of humor!
For the actual tattoo session Brian was the consummate professional; prepping carefully, checking in with me to make certain I was doing okay throughout, and NEVER making me feel at all rushed. I knew, without question, that what he was doing for me mattered to him. It literally could not have been more ideal and I would recommend Brian Richter to anyone and everyone! Turns out, besides Brian being a good guy, he’s also a very talented tattoo artist. Everyone who sees my tattoo comments on the great job that was done :)
For me, it helps tremendously that the journey getting there was a positive one. I couldn’t be happier actually. My lovely tattoo will forever keep my mother close in my thoughts, exactly as I’d hoped.
Zebra, for me, is as good as it gets. The owners are kind and interested and have a noticeable presence there. It shows. They take the serious side of tattoo ing, the sanitizing aspects, the important after-​care, all of it, quite seriously and it is quite apparent and puts a person immediately at ease. You know intuitively that they are doing everything possible for you to have a happy outcome.
The biggest take away is this: Zebra seems to be filled with people that actually care. The owners, Amanda, Brian, even someone who was not directly involved with me at all, Matty (another artist there who took time to speak to me and offer sincere interest and support), everyone that I encountered at Zebra; these are people who are doing far more than just going through the motions.

I walked in on a Saturday shortly after the shop opened to get my tragus re-​pierced. The counter staff was super helpful with picking out the right earring and didn’t push on all the after care products offered, although I did buy a couple. I waited for about a half hour, which wasn’t too bad for a weekend walk-​in.
The piercing room was spacious and clean. I met with Chris, who was going to do my piercing. I explained that I had my tragus pierced but it had been over 10 years since I last put an earring through it. He asked to look at my piercing and discovered that it didn’t need to be re-​pierced. He easily put in the new piercing and told me that they would refund me a portion of the piercing fee.
I explained to him that the earring wasn’t my first choice, but the counter staff recommended a larger size stud because of potential swelling. I explained this to Chris and he offered to switch the stud for the smaller size I originally wanted. He switched it out with no problems. The counter staff ended up refunding me portion of the piercing cost and the return of the after care products since those were no longer needed.
Overall great experience at Zebra. I appreciated the honest and professional service!

Literally love this place. I’ve gotten my nose and belly button here, both awesome experiences and today I came in and got my rook and traigus pierced by Dominic and he was great. And everyone at the front counter was great as well! They have a wide variety of jewelry to choose from. Can’t wait to come here for my next piercing.

Was there last Thursday Nathan was awesome I really love the people there all of them made me feel so comfortable and welcome will be back around the 14^th of February

Nathan Emery is an outstanding tattoo artist at Zebra Tattoo in Walnut Creek. Nathan is a good listener and was able to bring my ideas to works of art. I highly recommend Zebra Tattoo and Nathan Emery.

My daughter got her nose pierced by Dominic tonight and she is in LOVE with it! He did a great job and she felt very comfortable. They were detailed with the cleaning instructions and with helping us pick out the perfect jewelry. I would recommend coming here for all piercing needs! It was definitely a cool experience for us because I in fact got the same exact piercing at the same exact age as my daughter at Zebra! I have been going to Zebra since I was in middle school and it’s pretty awesome that they are still in business and now have a store in WC, and still have the positive reputation since I was a pre teen. If you want a trustworthy, clean and positive experience, I highly recommend Zebra!

Went in last Tuesday for my first tattoo and it went great I will definitely come back for some more! Brian was my artist, he was great! I love my tattoo so much. This place is the best so glad to have found it!

Normally I love this place and they are super friendly and helpful but this sales girl had no personality. She wasn’t that helpful and just seemed like I was taking up her time. Avoid the girl with the magenta grown out died hair

Always been a Berkeley Zebra fan, now I am adding WC Zebra to that list. DOM IS AMAZING! Super knowledgeable, fixed 3 outer conch piercings that I had done at a shop in Tahoe for my birthday weekend. 3 months later my piercings were not healing and were now all Inside my ear, painful as hell. Dom helped me out tremendously and got them all to the correct barbell size that I should have had in the first place. I went in today to get the bars shortened and he was just awesome, like I’m never going to another shop or piercer ever again.
Girls upfront are always super helpful as well. I’m comfortable in tattoo shops but this location will make anyone feel comfortable. Whether they are a veteran or a newbie. THANK YOU DOM!

I have always wanted tattoos and finally came to knowing what I wanted and where I wanted them. I was referred here by a few people so I had to check it out. It was the best decision I made ! I have received three tattoos in the last three months and I am completely in love with them ! I will definitely be coming here for more ! The people are very nice along with the artists. It is well worth the half hour drive !! Moises did my very first tat and Maddy (?) did my last two. Both great guys !

Tattoos are something I’ve been wanting for several years and I finally got around to picking out my designs. I did my research pretty thoroughly and was referred here and more specifically, to artist Moises.
I instantly felt comfortable with him as he was very helpful with my ideas (has even offered his own ideas which I appreciate greatly). Admittedly, I didn’t exactly what to expect once I sat in the chair but it didn’t take long to get used to the process. Moises was good at holding a conversation and I was able to relax pretty easily. He’s pretty light with his needle pressure so it was easy to not think too much about it.
Was there for about an hour and a half to two hours in total to get my first outline done. Cannot say enough good about Moises and Zebra WC. The shop is clean, the staff is friendly, and Moises is an awesome artist who does excellent work. I already can’t wait to go back next month!

Went in on a busy Friday night looking to get a nipple piercing. The people at the counter were nice and helped me guide my way through my purchase. The wait was about 45 minutes which wasn’t too much of a problem for me since I had company with me.
After the wait, I went into one of their nice spacious piercing rooms and the guy who pierced me (I forgot his name, but he was definitely a little more older than the younger staff) got right to business. He made good conversation and did the piercing quickly and without a problem.
But here’s why I’m giving 4 stars instead of 5. After the piercing, one of my other friends was getting pierced. I don’t know if it was just because of the rush of things (they were about to close) but he didn’t tell me anything about the aftercare for my piercing or my friend’s. We kinda left the store in a post-​pierced daze and then realized we didn’t know exactly how to care for our piercing.
Fortunately me and my friends aren’t clueless and know the usual sea salt piercing soak, but if a newcomer to have the experience I had they would’ve probably left with a soon to be infected piercing :/​
Other than that, I would come back only because of their jewelry selection. Don’t know if I would recommend to someone who is new to piercings.

I’ve always had a great experience in Zebras for my ears, my tongue, etc. Whenever I got pierced (ears and lip) OUTSIDE of Zebras… no bueno!!!
I love how they’re ultra clean, desk people are really nice and friendly.
I got pierced by a lady, I forgot her name– I think it was on a Sunday. She was fine, not super duper friendly, but that’s TOTALLY OK with me! I think syrupy sweetness is disgusting so she was within the good amount of friendly/​professionalism.
Why not the 5 stars? Eh, now that my piercing has healed a little bit and I got it changed for a straight bar with the small backing (that they recommend) I noticed even more now that my piercing is angled downwards. I knew she pierced me with the needle facing REALLY down first and I noticed it with my little gem «L bar» and it sat kind of on it’s edge instead of flush against the skin, but I really notice it now with a larger flat edge gem that it’s tilted against my skin, which explains why theres a part of my piercing that dug in a little.
I’m pretty sure it’s not supposed to be THAT angled, but I could be mistaken.
My 2^nd experience was better– some guy on a Saturday. (I’m sorry I don’t remember your names!!!) This was for the adjustment and a new replacement (which is how I really notice the weird angle of the piercing). Maybe someone who knows about piercings can shed some light on this because I’m actually willing to get re-​pierced to have it less angled, since it’s going to affect me if I want to put in a smaller gem. (as in the side of the smaller gem will dig into my nose rather than laying flat from the back)

My husband and I brought in our 11-​month old daughter to get her ears pierced this past weekend, and Zebra was such a great experience. We went right when it opened, which was what the girl suggested when we spoke on the phone prior to coming in, and as soon as we picked out earrings and were taught cleaning/​caring instructions they took her in. The girl who helped us with the earrings was very charming, friendly and helpful. Dominic pierced my daughters ears, and thank God he did, because he was so patient and awesome with our baby. I think overall, the people here have a bed side manner that you really look and hope for when you’re nervous about bringing in your baby or toddler to have their ears pierced. She put up a fight, but he handled it like a pro. And my favorite thing — his marks were spot on and her piercings look so good. When we were done, there were already so many people in the shop, so going early was a great tip if you don’t want to wait. So happy we made the decision to come here. Little goody bag at the end was a nice touch.

Dominic is absolutely amazing. He’s super nice and made me feel really comfortable. Dominic was so understanding when it comes to any piercing. Clean, safe, and you instantly trust him by just talking to him about what you’re interested in getting. Also a good sense of humor that makes you feel less nervous. We him Highly recommended all his work…

Came here on Sunday afternoon with my girlfriends thinking that they’d be empty. It wasn’t bad at all when we walked in but 15 minutes later there were tons of people that came in! The 2 gals and guy that helped us at the counter were super friendly and helpful. They answered all of our questions, got some jewelry out so we can see how it would look on us, and didn’t get annoyed that I kept changing my mind on getting a piercing.
Dominic was our guy and he was awesome! Very friendly and engaged in conversation with us. He made us feel comfortable, esp me, and made the process as quick and painless as possible. Between me and my friends I went last and kept saying how nervous I was. He offered numbing spray and that really relieved my anxiety.
I would definitely come back again for another piercing for myself and whenever we decide to get our little ones ears pierced again. I wasn’t able to go through the tattoo artists books but I have already told my husband he should check them out.
By the way, Stephan & Ayesha Curry went there to get some piercing and tattoos done!

Went in for a spontaneous piercing… Came out with two and a tattoo! Amanda and Gabe in the front were awesome. I felt super welcome and they were giving me suggestions. As I waited, Gabe and and Amanda checked on me asking if I needed water or anything to just let them know. This really swept the anxiety away from this spontaneous trip.
My piercer was Dominic, extremely clean and professional. He chatted with me and we talked about where the piercings would look best. And I’m so glad I trusted him. I couldn’t be happier with my second lobe and cartilage piercing. The room was very clean and non intimidating at all. Quick and painless is how I can describe the process. My piercings are healing extremely well, and I can thank the sterile equipment and Dominic for that. I definitely will be back to see him for my next one.
Now for the tattoo, I really have to thank Gabe for the inspiration. I caught a glimpse of his equality sign behind his ear and knew immediately that I wanted one as well. The significance of it goes a lot deeper than I could explain. Luckily, Miguel was free and got me in his chair after Gabe took care of the payment. Once again, the room was extremely clean (wouldn’t expect anything less after being in the room I was pierced in). Only took about 20 minuets and it came out beautifully. He gave me the after care spiel and I was on my way. Once again quick and somewhat painless (I only say somewhat because it was on my wrist and not gonna lie, that shit was a lil painful) but nun the less, worth it. Once again, it’s healing beautifully.
I couldn’t be more happier walking out of that shop. And will definitely will be back. Just want to thank the whole crew working that day for making the whole experience extremely worth it.

So you want to get your little ones ears pierced? Option #1) You could go to the mall and run the risk of potentially encountering an under-​trained teenager with an improperly sterilized piercing gun to punch holes in your loves ears or option #2) you could go to a professional in a sterile environment with a steady hand with a needle. We choose option #2 for our infant and couldn’t be happier with our decision.
From the moment we walked in the door carrying our little lady, we were greeted with smiles. The selection of infant appropriate jewelry was much more extensive than I had thought there would be and any concerns we might have had were instantly laid to rest. Once everything was ready for us, Dominic took his time letting our daughter feel comfortable with him and carefully placing the markings for her piercings. He made sure everything was perfect and that we were happy with their placement before he began.
While tears were to be expected, the entire staff was very accommodating and accepting of the fuss she made. When all was said an done, we were again greeted as we were leaving by more smiles and a personalized certificate for a little lady who «earned her stripes». Since coming home, she’s been all smiles and doesn’t seem to be bothered at all by her newly pierced ears. A positive experience all around and if you ask me, option #2 is always the way to go!
