Liu’s Institute of Child Development

This is a Special Education learning center for students 3 to 16 years old who has Developmental Delays, ADHD/​ADD, Learning Disabilities, Intellectual Disabilities, and Autism.
In the past 30 years, LIU Institute of Child Development has helped over 250,000 students, ranging from ages 3 to 16 years old. LIU VAS™ is an individualized educational program that promotes students’ cognitive functioning and learning efficiency, especially enhancing children’s abilities in expressive and receptive language, reading and writing, comprehension skills, emotional regulation, behavior, and social skills.
Children at 11 years old will have a higher performance than when they were at 9 years old, a higher performance at 9 than 7 years old, where as their Intelligent Quotients (IQ) will be about the same each year. Thus, IQ is not a good predictor of a child’s performance in cognitive, social, emotional, and physical domains. Some children can perform a grade level above his current grade, but others may always seem one year behind. IQ and chronological age are not reliable indicators of children’s academic and behavior performances.
As we already know, each child’s learning abilities — auditory functioning, visual integration, and sensory motor skills — will vary each year. These three abilities can more accurately explain a child’s performance, helping us to identify which learning abilities are contributing factors to a child’s current level of functioning. Cognitively, students will grow each year, but their learning ability will differ; in order for the student to reach their milestones each year, learning abilities must first match/​surpass their chronological age.
