History

Established in 1752.

The Walpole Inn was built in 1752 as the homestead of Col. Benjamin Bellows, in historic Walpole, NH. Fort # 3, of the Connecticut River Valley Forts was built just down the hill from the Inn and served as protection for the area residents for decades.

I stopped here for a quick early dinner and beer. What a great place. I was there just before 5 on a Thursday. The bartender Bobby, was attentive and we struck up an immediate conversation. The food was prepared perfectly, the atmosphere was appropriate. It was quiet when I arrived, but soon after, other diners started arriving. This is a definite plus for the area and i will be visiting again.

Just had drinks and dinner at the Inn Pub at the Walpole Inn. It’s terrific to have this as a local option, we’ve really needed just this sort of place. Good menu selection, great food, nice setting. Am looking forward to going back soon.

My brother in law and sister in law had their amazingly beautiful wedding reception at the Inn this weekend. We stayed the night and were impressed by the welcoming, clean, and comfortable room. The staff was friendly, accommodating and attentive; the breakfast was delicious. All in all we had a fabulous experience and I highly recommend the Bellows Walpole Inn to anyone looking for a five star experience in the Walpole /​Keene area.

my husband and I had dinner there for his birthday — and discovered that we were there on their opening day for the new bar and restaurant. We had a terrific meal, the soup was wonderful, the entrees were perfectly prepared and delicious and the staff were delightful. Great to see Bobby running the show — he brings such energy and personality wherever he goes. We will certainly be back.
