Genove Oil & Air Company

We have been using Genove for three years now. I am very happy with their services. They are very professional and always work in customer’s best interest. In one instance, they went extra mile to help me to secure a big rebate check from insurance company. I was really impressed. I would highly recommend their services.

I had some problem with my home heating system and called the company this morning around 9am. Although the company has a busy schedule for the day, it managed to send a technician to me around 11:30am. The technician immediately identified the problem and fixed it. He also went up and down multiple times in the house to double check before he left. The service is both timely and of great quality. I highly recommend this company if you want reliable and high quality service.

We recently had an estimate from Genove Oil and Air. Armando came and was very informative and professional. We asked his opinion on heating equipment and was very knowledgeable. When it was time for the installation he coordinated everything. His installation crew did a great job. Don’t hesitate to use them. They are great!

Yes. I just had an awesome experience with Genove Oil & Air Company of Waltham. Our business is in Arlington. They gave me less than 24 hour service and diagnosed and fixed the issue faster than you can say ‘Gimme that wrench!’
Then man, ‘Frankie D’who came out was extremely pleasant, kind, new everything about the AC units and got the job done in less than half the time I was quoted! And, got me a deal on the coolant. Really. He went the extra mile as did their customer service so they deserve this review. Not expensive either.

Genove was able to send a repairman (Richie) within a few hours of me calling with my request. Someone had cut my Freon line in half and Richie was able fix it. He was very knowledgeable and helpful and went out to pick up spare parts to complete the job in the same day. I am very happy with his service and would definitely recommend Genove for their efficiency and wonderful customer service.

We had Josh come out to our house and due the maintenance for the summer and he was great. Very professional and explained everything to us before and after he was done. Great customer service is wildly underrated so I appreciate it when it comes around.

Genove just replaced my 1970’s OIL heating system to a brand new GAS system. The entire idea had my head spinning from the beginning but I knew it had to be done. A gas line from the house to the street, a new system, new meter etc! This is our first home, and we had never been through it. They explained everything in great detail, and were happy to re-​explain when I didn’t fully «get it.» Additionally, they made sure that all pieces flowed smoothly… there are several people involved in this: inspectors, gas companies etc. I really can’t thank them enough, not only was the price right, their work was excellent, but they were all very professional. i would not hesitate to highly recommend or to use again for any heating/​cooling need. I wish I could use them for all my home projects! Much thanks Genove.

Genove has always gone above and beyond to provide exceptional service at a fair price. At no time was that more remarkable than when their driver trudged through five feet of snow from the street to the fill pipe at the rear of my house to deliver oil. My previous oil company wouldn’t deliver unless I cleared a path – not possible for me, a senior with a debilitating chronic illness living on a very modest fixed income, already depleted after hiring assistance to clear my driveway and sidewalks four times this season. Genove is a good, family-​run company with neighborly values. I wish all businesses were run that way.

They are wayyy overpriced for heating oil. Their oil is $ 2.89 per gallon where as most places only charge around $ 2.60 per gallon. They definitely seemed to take advantage of someone who doesn’t know much about heating systems that require oil. I was charged $ 237 for 20 gallons of oil and to restart the system. When I asked for the breakdown of charges they seemed to add about $ 80 for travel and delivery after a snowstorm. It seemed excessive since I called a few other places to get quotes after getting this ridiculous charge and got estimates for $ 35 to restart the system and $ 2.60/ gallon of oil (even after the snowstorm).

For a while, my roommates and I used Genoveve for our 4 bedroom in Allston. There were no problems most of the time. We would call and they would fill us up.
However, one day in January 2014, their truck driver made a mistake and gave us more than twice the oil we asked for. Oil is very expensive, and we are very poor college students, so there was no way we could pay that.
To our fortune, though, they called us and took full responsibility, saying that it was their mistake and we would not have to pay for the excess oil, UNLESS WE WANTED TO. As we could not pay it, we took the second option.
Until the middle of March, when I received a call from Genoveve saying that we owed them money. I told them that we settled this months ago, and they responded by insinuating I was unethical for not paying the oil they accidentally gave us. Over the next couple weeks there was a lot of phone tag and eventually Genoveve threatened to take the matter to court.
The oil account was on my roommates card, who is here from Argentina on a visa, so he got anxious and paid them, which is understandable for him. However, Genoveve lied to us after making a mistake and then bullied us into giving them money. When a gas station mischarges you for a soda, they don’t chase you after telling you it’s fine.
Utterly disappointing. Never doing business with this company again, as there are cheaper and less stressful alternatives in the area.

Yesterday my husband and I had a no hot water no heat emergency and Genove helped solve the problem ASAP. Samantha, who helped me over the phone was super polite and efficient in scheduling to have a tech come over to get everything fixed. The tech who came, I didn’t get his name, was really friendly as well and showed me how to check the oil and hot water. I called at 11 am and heat and hot water were back on by 4 pm, when I got home from work. I’m really impressed at the friendliness and consistency of this company.

It is rare to have a contractor who shows up when they say they will, charges what they say they will charge you, and give you professional, courteous service as you would expect a contractor should.
My experience with Genove Oil and Air was outstanding. They stuck to their schedule, worked in an attic during a heat wave, provided friendly and professional service and they did more work then what we discussed for the same price they originally quoted.
Their employees were hardworking and took the time to explain their process. They also did a good job cleaning up.

There have been some long, nasty heat waves this summer but we have been cool as cucumbers, thanks to Genove! The new A/​C works great and it’s amazingly quiet.
Armando was not only patient with our many questions but enthusiastic too! We had an added complication of needing electrical work done to be able to run an A/​C unit and Genove coordinated it seemlessly with an excellent electrician. They had us up in running after one day of work. It’s also so great to have our questions answered just as promptly after we already had the work done and paid. I don’t think this was our expensive option, but for us, the price was well worth the terrific service.

I don’t appreciate that on more than one occasion, they «forgot to charge me» and had to call me after the fact to tell me that they’d be charging my credit card for something that was supposed to have been charged weeks earlier. The last time, they randomly sent me an invoice for nine cents, after I’d already paid them. They didn’t make me pay the nine cents, but after already having had two billing issues with them, I was not impressed with this.
I find it difficult to believe that the reason it took three service calls (at nearly $ 100 apiece for labor alone, not counting various parts) to repair the furnace is that coincidentally it had three separate and unrelated problems.
I find it frustrating and suspicious that the technician on two of those service calls was impatient with my questions and acted defensive, as though my questions were accusations. I don’t know about furnaces, so if you’re charging me money to do stuff to the furnace, I want to understand what you’re claiming is wrong and what you’re suggesting needs to happen to make it right. I also am getting charged for a full hour, even though you were only here for far less than an hour, so if I want to spend a few minutes to understand what is going on, I’m paying for that time already.
After all this, I just don’t have any faith left in this company. Too many mishaps and miscommunications. The best thing I can say about them is that they are usually (but not always) pretty friendly. I chose this company based on the other reviews, but I can’t say it’s «A-​OK» let alone that «I’m a fan.» I’ve certainly experienced better, so Genove gets two stars.

Puzzled with how the company treats the tenants. My landlord is good friends with the owner of this business. We are having boiler (heating oil) issues. We order our oil from Genove for heating and hot water uses. To our dismay, we have been forking over 500 dollars every three weeks to just run the hot water heater to take showers and wash dishes. We stopped using the heater to heat our home and had to use portable electronic heaters.
My Landlord told me that he is having hard time getting straight, honest answers from Genove. He states that Geonve is not being honest to him about the boiler issues that we are facing. We had our boiler serviced in the first week of February and my landlord says that he hasn’t received the report of the boiler’s performance from Genove. It has been 7 weeks and counting waiting for that boiler report on why we are wasting 137 gallons of oil every three weeks to just heat our hot water.
I spoke with the Service Manager over the phone. He refused to give me a copy of the boiler report just because they just want to make a profit from tenants on a faulty boiler that is draining our wallets.
It’s time for them to stop their corrupt practices and start honoring requests from tenants. We are the ONES who are paying the oil bill. :-)

Thank goodness we called Genove! I couldn’t have survived this summer without them!!! Just had central air installed and now we’re cool and comfortable and sitting pretty!
Can’t say enough good things about this experience, especially as we’ve always been cursed in the past with picking companies for installations and services! But these guys treated us amazing from the initial call all the way through my gazillion questions and through installation. Just really good people!
Highly recommend them! Now I don’t have to leave the house until September! :)

Of course my Air conditioner broke during the hottest week in August. I found a coupon online for 40% off a yearly service appointment and thought i would have them try to fix the AC and clean it all at once. Once Frank arrived he talked to me about how the unit had been working and found the part that had gone bad on the unit within minuets. I was afraid I might need a new unit but it was just a small part that was only $ 80. He replaced the piece, cleaned the unit replaced all my air filters, waited to take take the temperature of the air to make sure it was working and was all cleaned up in about 40 min.
Ahhhh air conditioned bliss…
Its nice to have a service person who is honest about when its a small problem that is inexpensive to fix and not have someone try to sell you a list of goods you don’t really need.

I purchased my first home several years ago, needless to say it came with a few headaches.
Unfortunately, I never looked into comparative oil prices and simply chose the first company I saw, which was clearly a mistake. I was overpaying every month. When I finally decided to upgrade my furnace, I received little help/​suggestions from my provider.
After a year of this, I finally decided to switch companies. A few friends suggested Genove. I called and received friendly service. They were straight forward, very helpful and honest. I never felt like I was being cheated or scammed.
I’m paying less every month and couldn’t be happier with the service. Needless to say, I’ve been with them ever since.
Save yourself a hassle and some cash. This company is worth it.

I’ve been using Genove for a few years now to supply oil and service for both my own home as well as my rental properties. Not only are the employees completely professional when in my house, but they go out of their way to help me during times of need. (Recently one of their employees who saw me struggling — helped me replace a light bulb, which sparked me to write this review)
When I finally got around to installing central A.C. — Frank did an amazing job of explaining everything to me so I knew exactly what was going to happen and why. He was great to work with during that transition and extremely friendly and likable. And I can’t forget to include the most important part — WAY below any other quote I got with both time and costs.
All together their service has been nothing but amazing. I’ve also never head any complaints from any of my renters about communication issues with the company.
Dealing with them over the years I’ve enjoyed all of the employees I’ve been in contact with. And I really appreciate the commitment to the customers they exhibit. They’re one of the rare companies that say they define themselves on family values and actually live up to those standards.
