I tried Grassfields for the first time today. I ordered the Chicken Parm. It was a good size portion and the meal was excellent. The price was reasonable and the service was also very good. I also ordered iced tea which was fresh brewed. Very good experience. I highly recommend it.

I am new to the neighborhood and just starting to make my way through the menu but so far everything has been great. Good selection, great service(at least at the bar where we tend to sit) and really well prepared food for this type of neighborhood spot. Nice specials(the meatloaf the other night was really good) are also available as are interesting specialty drinks. This is a great place for a casual, delicious meal at a very reasonable price with attentive and friendly service.

I have eaten at Grassfields many times in the past 30 years. The food has almost always been excellent, and the service has usually been good, until last night that is. I went there with my wife to enjoy a dinner and the host looked up and growled in a far less than friendly voice«can I help you». I responded«two for dinner please». He then very annoyingly snapped«yeah, well just wait a couple of minutes» and turned away as if we were interrupting something more important than a paying customer and turned his attention to some paperwork. At that point, I beckoned to my wife to leave and we went to another restaurant. Not planning on going back. There are plenty of other places that serve good food and treat the customer with respect.

I have never had a disappointing meal at Grass field’s! My favorite is the Rack of Lamb, Zucchini sticks are a must try and teriyaki steak tips. And of course their rice :) The staff is friendly and accommodating. I recommend Grassfileds for sure.

Good restaurant for price vs quality! The chicken messina is great, the steak teriyaki is very good too! We tried also the scalops florentine.

A fine establishment. I wouldn’t necessarily recommend it. The food comes directly from the freezer to the flat top to you! The bar is nice and I will go back for the company not for the service. It is what it is. ..

Let me preface the following review by stating I have been a faithful customer for over 18 years and my mother for over 30. It’s my go to birthday dinner spot ever since I was 7 and I have been holding off writing a review for a while now. That being said let’s get down to the review of this evenings shenanigans. I arrived ready to get my eat on with my «traditional» teriyaki steak tip dinner in high spirits. We placed our drink order(I got the cookie monster, again as is tradition) and my mum got a root beer(changing it up?). The waitress comes back 5 minutes later with just a root beer and no drink for me, claiming it was still in the process of being made. ok? She leaves, comes back a few minutes later with bread… and no cookie monster. She clearly had a death wish but it’s cool. My drink makes it over to me shortly after… and then she leaves again. Um… don’t wanna take our order now? Is this chick new? We’ve already been here 10 minutes and the menus were down indicating we wanted to order. A few minutes go by, still no waitress. We spot her clearing tables and flag her down so we can eat today. She knows at this point were pissed and apologizes a few times then takes our order quickly and runs away. At this point I think she realized her tip was steadily going down. Our salads come out and they were pretty decent, and then another full 25 minutes pass until our entrees came. The waitress dropped them down and left without a word. I could already tell my tips weren’t cooked well done as I had asked for by the puddle of blood and the way the meat was jiggling. Sure enough as I cut into the tips I was greeted by the sight of a ruby red medium, a far cry from what I ordered. I chose not to try and flag the waitress down for several reasons, one being I was starving and clearly it would’ve been another long wait for service as I couldn’t even spot her. Both of our food was very, very bland and I had to use a heavy hand with the salt and pepper to even be able to taste my meal. I have never had such a bad experience since I’ve started going here. The wait service has always been sub par but the food was always good. This time both failed miserably. To add further insult, our waitress asked if we would like our check, then went to clear a few tables before going to get it. When she took our money to go and pay for the bill, instead of again going immediately so we could leave, she decided AGAIN to start clearing tables and setting silverware as well as taking orders from another table. Horrible service and below average food. They need to really get their stuff together because this was extremely disappointing.

I was at this restaurant tonight 6÷16÷15 and had the freshest scrod cooked to perfection. Drinks are excellent. Service is great. I just wish it was closer to home but I will drive the hour to get there next week. It is worth the time and traffic(Rt 95) trouble.

I have never been to Grassfields before but I was trying to set up a quick lunch meeting for the Dr. I work for. I do this a lot so I am used to checking out restaurants that I think will be good. Grassfields menu looked decent so I thought I would give it a shot. I called at 10am and asked if I could hold a table for two for a business lunch for noon. The man said«we don’t do that.» On their site is says they do. Then he said«they should be fine, okay, bye.» and then he hung up on me. I just sat there looking at my phone thinking, he just hung up on me. REALLY!

I’ve been coming here for, well, it feels like forever. If you have a hankering for a steak, you can’t go wrong here. The teriyaki steak tips, the sirloin strip dinner, the prime rib, all can’t be beat. And don’t get me started on the lobster pie. Heart attack on a plate, but so worth it! The service is consistently good here, and the prices are very reasonable. Give the place a try and I wouldn’t be surprised if you became a regular.

We went for a birthday first and recently again for a regular dinner. The food is awesome! Such great value for the price. You can get a surf and turf for only $ 17.99 and it’s cooked perfectly, medium rare/rare. The rice pilaf is really yummy, as was the clam chowder. We’ve tried almost all the seafood – the scrod is delicious, as were the stuffed shrimp and lobster pie. The teriyaki steak is fantastic. The service is great too(Nancy is a fantastic character) and we always leave stuffed. The wait is long if you go during peak hours, but Sunday night at 7:30pm and there was no wait. But it’s worth the wait!

Had a nice experience here for dinner tonight. The place was hopping, but the service was excellent. Had the Salmon Royale with fresh veggies. The veg was a little bit overdone for my liking, but the flavor was nice. The salmon was cooked perfectly and covered in a cream sauce with lobster and crab. I found the cream sauce a bit heavy for the fish, but, again, the flavors were good. Enjoyed a rich brownie sundae to finish things off.

About as mediocre as it gets, but very crowded on a random Wednesday night so I guess they’re doing something right! We shared the spinach artichoke dip which was ok, and ordered the haddock with fries(a special) and the Grassfields burger for our meals. Located in a shopping plaza, I was happy there was at least plenty of parking. Probably wont go back since there are so many other great dining options in the area for about the same price, or just a little more.

This place is a hidden gem. My girlfriend lives across the street and we had always avoided it because it looked a little«simple» and barish from the outside. We tried it out and OMG the food and wait staff are amazing. The place is usually packed with older folks and boy do they know how to pick their spots. I would describe this place as having North End quality food for local pricing. Must go to place. This is a steal!!!

Wow, so much to talk about here. This is a very interesting restaurant in that the vast majority of patrons seems to be over 50. Not entirely sure why that is, but I’ve been coming here since I was in my 20’s and I loved it as much then as I do now(…I’m almost 40). They’ve got tables and chairs everywhere and you can even choose to eat a full meal at the bar if you’d like. This comes in handy if I’m dining alone and the football game is on. Otherwise, I’ll opt for a booth if I’m with my wife and kids. I’ve tried a few items on their menu and I’ve honestly NEVER been disappointed. Their steak tips are cooked to perfection and their chicken teriyaki is moist, tender, and delicious. But the meal I most oftentimes come for is their amazing BAKEDSTUFFEDSCROD. Wow! Have you ever pondered what you’d have for your last meal if you were a day away from the electric chair? Well, for me, it’d be Grassfields’ baked stuffed scrod with their rice pilaf, maybe with a baked potato on the side because carbs are yummy. The stuffing with which they adorn the fish is nothing short of phenomenal and, yes, they use this same amazing stuffing for their stuffed shrimp as well; also a delicious choice. The lighting is always lowered to give the restaurant a more relaxed, intimate feel, and they are kid-friendly as well, so my little girl gets to color with crayons while we wait for our food… although she often remarks about all the old people there. lol. If I had to guess, I’d say that the well-cooked meals in their quiet, darkened restaurant are probably what attract the older crowd. Desserts are good, too. They don’t have a HUGE selection, but odds are, they’ll have something you’re gonna love. Can’t say enough good things about this place. Top-notch restaurant and has been for as long as I’ve been going there.

Grassfields is the type of restaurant you want to go to if you want to have a good meal for a great price. I’ve been here twice for dinner one time sitting at a table and the other at the bar. Their cocktail/wine/beer list is extensive and reasonably priced. The nicest bottle of red wine they have will cost you about $ 32, which is very good compared to other restaurants. Appetizers: I’ve had the Buffalo Rangoon’s and the Honey Buffalo Chicken Strips. The rangoons were good, but nothing special. I thought it was a nice twist to a «crab rangoon» but it wasn’t cheesy enough. The Honey Buffalo chicken strips were very good though and I would definitely get those again. Main Meals: Chicken Parmesan, Steak Tips and Stuffed Chicken Messina were tried and all were very good. I really enjoy their marinara sauce and the rice pilaf is excellent. I would not get the chicken messina again as I though the marsala sauce was too heavy and ruined the flavor of the chicken. Don’t get me wrong, I love mushrooms and marsala sauce but it was just too salty for me! This is the type of restaurant you want to go to at a later time. They are very busy around 5pm, but if you go during the weekday after 6:30pm I think you will have a better chance of sitting at the bar or a smaller wait for a table!

It’s got an «early bird» cult following for good reason. Great prices, friendly service, and really good solid food. Bread, steak tips, rice pilaf… The three reasons I keep coming back for more.

In a time where restaurants look for ways to nickel and dime you, Grassfields looks for ways to keep prices low and get you the best bang for your buck. Grassfields has quality food at great prices but don’t expect the meal of your life. Expect normal American food at a good price. There is big spacious seating, in an atmosphere welcoming to families. Appetizers were a big miss, fried calamari was mainly tasteless except for the red sauce served with it. Zucchini sticks were just average. The main courses were a big hit, especially the burgers and steaks. I got the filet mignon with bearnaise sauce. The filet was a good cut and cooked just right(medium as requested). If I’m looking for a steak at a good price I would come back here, as the value is great.

The sense of community is great here. It really is about welcoming friends, neighbors and those that are regulars. I felt like I was almost treated as one when I walked in for dinner on Friday evening. They welcomed me with open arms at the bar and I found a great seat to take in the Celtics game that was starting up at 7:30. Beers were cold, on draft and they were plentiful throughout the bar and I took in a Sam Adams. I went for the 18oz draft after seeing that they were offering it for $.50 more then a 16oz — really, you guys drive a hard bargain there. I made the best decision because coming from DC, the price was just amazing what they charge at a local watering hole. The food was A-Ok though. Good calamari was taken in before my meal got there and I got a local fish and was blackened with a cajun seasoning as well. I enjoyed it. Recommeded it some friends from our conference before leaving today as well.
