Hyatt House Boston Waltham

The two stars are for the courteous and helpful staff, and for the fact that we did get the basic necessities of a roof over our heads, beds and hot and cold running water. There was a shard of plastic on the floor near my bed, so vacuuming is apparently not a priority. The carpet was hilly and wrinkly, very uncomfortable to walk on and should be replaced. The towels and toilet paper are very cheap, and I expect lotion to be provided along with shampoo, conditioner and soap (which were). The bedroom was open when we arrived and the blinds didn’t work at all. Fortunately there was also a heavy drape. One lamp behind the couch was unplugged and I couldn’t reach behind the couch to replug it. I requested this be fixed and it never was. The closet doors were off their tracks, and this was fixed when I requested. On two days, we returned to the room to find the housekeeper had set the temp to 85 degrees! The complimentary breakfast was… uneven. The omelettes were good, though small, but the pancakes and hash browns and scrambled eggs were just awful. It was also chaotic and not obvious where to find the plates and bowls. One morning the staff brought out the silverware straight from the dishwasher, i.e. burning hot. Not up to the standard of regular Hyatts where I have stayed, maybe this brand should just be closed down.

As a business traveler, this hotel suits my needs in a cost effective manner.
There is room for improvement with the front desk and maintenance– seems like they try, and they’re always friendly, but actual service is inconsistent.
There is no room service, but this hotel offers a limited dinner menu in their restaurant. The breakfast is better than most.
Overall I have found this hotel to be quiet and clean. Most importantly, it feels safe for a single female traveler.

This is one the BEST places my family and I have ever stayed. We had a one bedroom suite with a full kitchen. They even supplied plates, bowls, cups, glasses, and flatware for 4. Pots, pans, cooking utensils, dish towel, dish soap were also supplied.
My husband and I enjoyed closing the bedroom doors while our daughter, her friend, and our 10 yr. old granddaughter comfortably slept on the pull out sleeper sofa, and side sofa. I can’t stand hotel beds but this is the first one where I did not wake up stiff and sore.
The front desk staff were very pleasant and helpful. The continental breakfast had a very large variety of items to choose from, including an omelet station. The bar prices are pretty high and the food prices are ridiculous. A beer and mixed drink were almost $ 20.00.
There are not easy to get to places in this area so you have to drive no matter where you want to go.
I saw no signs of ‘call girls’ as mentioned in an earlier post.

ok hotel, has a half bar in lobby, on thing the hotel has call girls evey night.
the hotel loves the call girls company, place never has changed the filters in the rooms heating equipment so after sleeping a few hours if the heat or air is on your throat hurts and feels disgusting. the hotel staff are friendly, there is a creepy guy kyle that sits in the bar area in the dark areas watching and staring at people with is weird, I did see a girl get put in a head lock in the hallway and if your looking for excitement this is the place…

I was here for a family wedding for 3 nights. Comfortable beds and great breakfast included. We had a 2 bedroom suite for my wife and me, my mother in law, and my brother in law. My half of the suite life was fine, but the other bedroom had TV and phone issues that were not completely addressed by the staff. In addition, my MIL couldn’t find here denture and thinks the staff cleaner disposed of the by accident. She expects full financial compensation… I think she will be disappointed.
Brother in law used what was supposed to be a heated pool. He found the water quite chilly.
Had a drink at the bar on Sunday night… was quite nice and the bartender was friendly.
The area is convenient with many restaurants in the area. Easy access on and off I95.
I could the price to be quite excessive for the quality and amenities… But Boston is an expensive hotel market.

Just wanted to update review, nothing’s been fixed and forgot to mention missing pool tiles that have been like this for over 2 months, just can’t believe Hyatt would not maintain a property to higher standards

Overall a nice hotel. Rooms were very spacious with a full kitchen. The staff was nice and they will drive you to somewhere you need to go. I would say it could be a bit closer to outside businesses though that would have given it 5 stars.

I stayed there for 2 nights and had a great experience. the rooms are spacious & comfortable and come with lots of amenities.
This place has one of the best complimentary breakfast bars I have seen including made-​to-​order omelets.
Bonus: the staff is incredibly friendly!

It is a wonderful Hotel. The service is surprisingly good. There is an outdoor courtyard which is easy to enjoy. Like many other Hyatt houses. There is a sense of corporateness, which makes it feel a bit more foreign. They provide breakfast which is helpful. It is not far from Boston (where my family was headed), and they have a pool. There is no lifeguard and the pool is not heated, so a late night dip is out of the question. They do not give you full room service unless you stay for over a week.
The manager Jack is great.

My family and I enjoyed our room. We finally stayed together in one room. Most times, we have to get two rooms and request them to be adjacent or nearby. We stayed in a two bedroom suite with king beds, sofa bed and a kitchenette. When we arrive, it was like a little apartment. The kids loved it and we enjoyed the breakfast the next morning. We promised our kids to return and spend more nights here the next time we visit the area. Very friendly hotel staff.

My stay here was comfortable and pleasant. Staff was great!
I stayed for two nights. It was like a home away from home. The room was very spacious. The living room was a delight.
The bedroom has a television and an amazing bed. The bathroom was well lit and roomy.
The Equipped kitchen was surprising, oven, coffee maker, dishwasher, etc. If you plan on staying for a day or two feel free to bring groceries. :)
They offer a laundry room ($ 2 for the wash, $ 2 for the dryer), coffee & breakfast.
Not too many places within walking distance so be prepared to drive. Once in town there are plenty of places to eat and shop.
Waltham is great and so, so glad I chose the Hyatt House. :)

Overall, I don’t have any complaints about the hotel itself. The staff was friendly, the morning br, eakfast and social hour foods were good, and the room was clean.
HOWEVER, that’s where it ends. If you are here on business, which most are, be prepared to use your mobile hot spot because their Internet is absolutely horrific, and when I needed it most, it failed miserably. As a professional network engineer, their AP cannot handle the number of users connected as it kept dropped me off and resetting the connection, which makes me wonder if their using cheap little AP’s throughout the hotel. Which lead to to look at the delay between my workstation and the AP, so I ran some test and its the worst I’ve seen, sometimes peaking to over 500ms RTT. My kids can setup a better network. After dropping and re-​authenticating, the Internet was my next challenge. Constant packet drops, high latency, just be prepared to see a lot of «Page not able to load». You’ll also see below that at various times, over 3000ms+ latency RTT — really Hyatt? It’s 2014.
I’ve included my findings below, and if the Hyatt House wants to see from my company again, I suggest they invest in a proper wireless and provider solution, otherwise, your better off going to another hotel if connectivity is important.

Professional managers and their excellent team will attend to Guest needs in shortest time possible.
Their breakfast and evening spreads excellent.
I will continue to stay here and recommend this place.

Nice hotel for price. Spacious. Good service. However, my rental car was broken into overnight and according to police, it’s not uncommon for this location because of residents at nearby properties. Seemed like safe place but I won’t stay there again because of this stressful experience. Staff did all they could to help me, and I managed to catch my flight.

I stay at Hyatt hotels about 4 times a year, evenly split between business and vacation. This time I went to this particular location for business. It was typical for the «Hyatt House» brand — a decent, relatively clean, safe hotel that is several steps above the «Days Inn» type of hotel but not as nice as a Marriott Courtyard.
The location of this hotel is convenient — just on the outskirts of Boston, very convenient to major highways. It is just behind a Westin and in the midst of several other small mid-​range hotels so the neighborhood had a safe feel to it. Within 2 miles there were plenty of places to eat, and a gas station was less than ½ a mile away.
The staff at the front desk were pleasant, nothing to write home about, but they were fine and did their best. Not the type of staff you’d see at a Hyatt Regency, but this is a Hyatt House. The carpet in the facility was old and the building is beginning to feel slightly run-​down but not too bad. The room itself is a mini-​suite — kind of like an efficiency apartment. Lots of room, especially for one person. Could easily hold more. The room itself was the bright spot, and most important really. The bed was not overly comfortable, but it was good and I slept very well. There was no excess noise.
Breakfast, free, was crowded, but to be expected. The food was not great, but you get what you pay for. Their lowest point on breakfast is their coffee. It is atrocious. The in-​room coffee is much better.
Hotels in Boston are very expensive, and this one was at a good price point, so I wouldn’t mind staying there again if it was just me. If there were others that were within $ 10 of the cost, I’d stay somewhere else, but this one was A-​OK.

Looks like it’s been a while since anyone posted for this property. I travel for business quite a bit, and spend too many nights throughout the year in hotels. Years ago I enjoyed staying at the Summerfield Suites when I travelled, then Hyatt bought the chain. Don’t get me wrong, I still stay at Hyatt properties. I was not able to get reservations at the Hyatt property that I normally stay at while in the area, so I booked a room here in Waltham.
This is an old Summerfield Suites property that is in need of some sprucing up. I booked a two bedroom suite — as I’m traveling with family this trip. The room looks dingy, the bathrooms need caulking and a fresh coat of paint, the carpet is stained, the refrigerator dented in several places, hvac filters are dirty impeding air circulation, there are fruit flies in the room, the snack store is almost stripped clean (so no midnight snack attack), and my biggest pet peeve when traveling: there are HD TVs in the bedrooms with only analog signals available! This makes it impossible to watch TV unless you enjoy watching blurred pictures while sober and getting headaches from doing so. Finally, the free WiFi was too slow to watch some news videos on my iPad without the feed freezing every couple of seconds. Check please!
My suggestion: although the rooms are «priced right» (and probably fill up all the time from all of the corporate offices in the area), find a different property to stay at while in the area. Oh, a good thing — the hallways are nicely lit.

We have stayed here every time we are in the Boston area for the last 12 years, we average a stay per year. The facilities are nice and quiet and really help balance the busy feel of being in town and crowded on the T. The beds are comfortable, the bathrooms are fantastic. We have been in everything from a 2 bedroom suite to a 1 bedroom conference suite. As parents, it is nice to be able to go to bed, shut the door and actually sleep. The kids love having their own area and we appreciate the mess being confined to their area.
The breakfasts are popular with our family, the kids eat a variety of options. I appreciate the fruits that are available in addition to the very carb heavy options. The evening snacks are nice but could certainly be refilled more frequently.

For the most part, my experience at Hyatt House deserves 4 stars. The rooms were surprisingly comfortable and perhaps newly remodeled. The fact that all rooms are suites (and legitimately have 2 rooms) with a full-​sized kitchen is a huge bonus. I enjoyed being able to make my own coffee in the morning, being able to toast a piece of bread, and having a fridge. The kitchens are much more modern than what you find at Homestead Suites or Extended Stay. I found the rooms to be comfy (especially the sectional couch), the bed to be pleasant, and the bathroom to be a bit average.
I was a huge fan of their free (and FAST) WIFI along with their free breakfast every morning. I was actually pleasantly shocked that they really provide a full free breakfast every morning (typical fare includes scrambled eggs, a variety of toasts, waffle maker, pastries, cereals, fruits, french toast, breakfast potatoes, sausage or bacon, coffee, tea, juices, yogurt, etc.). Although during the weekend the buffet was a bit crowded there was never really any shortage of food. The weekday was pretty dead and they still served a full breakfast. The food was actually good (hey, it’s free) and definitely allowed me to fill up and skip lunch! I would have liked to have tried one of their ‘free evening social dinners’ as well during a weekday but I wasn’t around. How can you go wrong with free breakfast and free dinner?!
The hotel price was good… I booked it on a 48 hour deal for about $ 80 a night which I thought was a bargain for what you got. Not sure what it normally runs. The staff was pleasant and actually allowed me check-​in at 9am because I had, had a red eye into Boston. Very nice.
My only complaint is the incredibly thin walls. I mean VERY thin. I was on the 2^nd floor for one night and it sounded like bodies were being dropped on the floor when the family above us moved around. I could also hear their baby screaming all day. I called the front office to ask for a different room and unfortunately they didn’t have any available but assured me the family would be checking out the following morning. The family then unfortunately extended their stay and I heard the same noise all day and night again. Finally they moved us to the 3^rd floor which more quieter and more pleasant. I would recommend asking for a 3^rd floor room, if possible. Or else you’ll hear your neighbors quite loudly.
All in all, not a bad experience and I would return if they ran a similar deal.

For the size of the suite, the service, and all the amenities included, I thought that this was a great place for the price.
My only complaint about this place was that I was checked into a room that smelled of heavy Indian food. It was a good thing I was able to block off the smell overnight by closing the double doors between the bedroom and the kitchen/​living room area. The next morning, the lady at the front desk quickly checked me into a different room.
Overall, the entire suite seemed pretty clean. Although I didn’t make use of the full kitchen, it was nice to have it there and it definitely helped to have a fridge during my stay. There’s one TV in the main area (with a nice couch) and another TV in the bedroom.
I was glad the hotel offered free wifi, otherwise I would’ve felt out of touch with the outside world (this area seems pretty secluded).
I took advantage of the free breakfast everyday. Considering it was all free, I thought the selection of food was decent. I wouldn’t recommend drinking the milk they put out though. I took a huge gulp of skim milk one morning, and it tasted like it was close to spoiling.
I managed to go to the gym a few times during my stay. Although it’s a small gym, the machines work well and each cardio machine has a small TV attached to it. The hotel even provides free headphones. I do wish this gym was bigger though, because if quite a few people are there, it gets overcrowded pretty easily.
If you’re planning on staying around Waltham for at least a few days, this would be a comfortable and convenient place to stay.
