Medford Optical of Waltham

I cannot say enought about this place. Especially when you are dealing with kids, it is not easy to find a right place.
I am very thorough person and my seven year old kid is very busy, throws tons of questions so often he becomes not easy to deal with. When I notified from his eye doctor few years ago, that he would need a pair of glasses, I began searching everywhere near the state and even to Connecticut.
I was looking for enough of good choices of frames (not too fancy ones but decent choices from affordable to some high end/​good quality ones), good services (because I knew we would be back for rebalancing quite often or might need even more than that) and professionalism (good quality of work), and caring (I needed to make this each visit happy with kid not struggling!). And this optic place has all and we couldn’t be happier! My boy thinks Chandra is his dear friend (and she is) and each visit gets never dull but pleasant with a right help. I’d like to give six stars for this place if possible! Thanks to Chandra and the team for making this process very special and nice.

The staff is helpful and without pretense. I’m not sure if there are ever deals offered, but It was easy to understand what I was paying for and there was no problem in making an exchange when one pair was not quite what was expected. We were looking for teen and young adult eyeglasses, including sports safety glasses. Although the selection is somewhat limited, it did not prove to be a problem for either of my children. I spend a lot of time at Children’s, so the location can’t be beat!

Terrific customer service and great array of selections for kids. They were wonderful with my shy but opinionated daughter and very professional.

I can’t say enough about the great team at Medford Optical in Waltham! They know their stuff and they make the experience of buying glasses completely painless — almost fun. When we first needed glasses for our 9 year old daughter, I thought the experience would be awful. She is not an easy kid, and she did not want glasses! To my delight, the team at Medford Optical in Waltham made us all feel comfortable right away and worked with my daughter until she found a pair of glasses that she actually LOVED. We talked through the best kind of glasses for a rough and tumble kid, and we landed on a pair that have worked well for her. The team is always friendly, attentive, and really care about making each person feel good about their selection. When you are working with kids, it’s not just about the glasses — it’s about the experience. This place is tops!!!

When we found out our then 2.5 year old daughter needed to get glasses we were rather concerned about how to choose them, just how often she’d break them (if we could keep them on her head at all), etc. We first chatted with the folks out at Waltham and they were very helpful. We were mentioning to each other that a daughter of a friend of ours had a pair that we were considering and the person helping us actually remembered her name and exactly which pair it was. Since we live in Somerville they suggested we work through the Medford location, but it was a great start to the whole process.

Not inexpensive, but high touch. My son’s eye doctor sees patients both at Children’s Hospital in Waltham and in Longwood. Since we have shifted to the Waltham campus we have started using Medford Optical. We stop in every few months for a free «tuning». So while the glasses aren’t inexpensive, they are very customer friendly and service oriented. They have Saturday am hours, which is great for the tuneups — our alternate provider is just M — F.

These guys are great, they’re located in Children’s Hospital of Waltham but they have adult prescriptions/​glasses. I’ve been working w/​them on getting some Maui Jim sunglasses & although they’re not part of the insurance network/​discount, they still offered me 20% off frames/​lenses… which is almost $ 80-​$ 90! (btw, I checked 4 – 5 other places & none were as competitive as MOW. Also w/​a locale in Meffah…
July 27^th update — Just picked up my prescription & it’s fantastic. Really like these guys, def use them if you can! Nice ppl, great price & easy to use.
