I went into The Tool Shed today for the first time ever after walking by it tons of times as it’s just around the corner from my office. In a sentence, it’s a pretty cool used tools store with tons of cheap tools. Now I’m not sure exactly who owns/runs The Tool Shed, but you know that he’s pretty awesome for a few reasons: First, the hours. 1pm to 5pm, 4 days a week? Awesome. Never wake up before noon, and why open up Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday? Those days aren’t even that good to begin with. Next, the tools! So many tools! I felt manly just stepping inside. A giant tray of drill bits? Shit yeah. A wall full of saw blades, sockets, and wrenches? Sign me up. A bucket full of $ 1 crowbars? Time to go Gordon Freeman on everyone. A disorganized table with literally a two-foot-deep pile of power tools beneath a sign that proudly proclaims«everything on this table: $ 6.»? Awesome. Third — the clientele! There are often multiple cars completely full of crap parked out front — figures that the Tool Shed attracts the kind of people who like amassing tons of crap. Better yet, most of the regulars have a great rapport with the owner, who you can tell really takes pride in curating the giant piles of manly hardware that grace his store. Hilarious, cheap, and definitely a great place to get obscure used tools.
