Wu Kerry DMD

I have been going to Dr. Wu for a long time. I am writing this because I read the other reviews and feel like they went to a different dentist!
I have never had dental insurance and so have to pay for everything out of pocket. Guess what… as an adult, it is my responsibility to ask about policies and costs so I can make an informed decision. Also, he is a dentist — not a bank. He is under no obligation to allow people to pay him for his work over time. Is dental work you pay for out of pocket cheap??? No. But my teeth are important to me and frankly, I am worth it. I may be wrong but I did not see any reviews that said he did substandard work and in my opinion he does great work. In fact, someone even complimented his hygienist’s work when having a cleaning.
I will continue to go to Dr. Wu. I am not looking for «bargains» when it comes to my teeth. Yes, I am lucky that I can currently afford to pay out of pocket but that was not always the case and I had to find other ways to pay for it (care credit, credit card, loan etc). He has not suggested I have unnecessary work done and has had a weak front tooth of mine «on watch» for several years now because the weakness has not progressed.
His receptionist Megan (who recently left after 13 years because her husband got transferred and she now has a couple of young children), was always polite, efficient and nice.
If you are looking for a quick clean at basement prices, go to one of those smile style franchises. If you need extensive work and cannot afford it, it is my understanding that dental schools can do the work for ¹⁄₃ of the cost.
If you want good cleanings and overall dental work, Dr. Wu is the dentist to see. FYI: Before going to Dr. Wu I had a dentist in Arlington that was about 35% higher in pricing and I was paying out of pocket then as well. I do not think his costs are out of line.
I would and have recommended Dr. Wu to friends and family.

Dental hygienists here are great. As mentioned in previous reviews, Dr. Wu «recommends» procedures without regards to insurance coverage (main reason why I switched to a new dentist). Being a new patient I was not aware the office was close on Fridays. The office apparently charges a $ 50 fee for cancelled appointments without a 24 hour notice. I called to cancel an appointment back in June on a Friday, for a Monday appointment. The secretary reminded me that they were closed on Friday, there was no mention of cancellation fees. Fast forward 6 months later, I called to cancel a cleaning appointment because I am switching to a new dentist. The secretary then brings up the cancellation fee from June. She told me that although I gave them 24 hour notice of the cancellation, they are closed on Fridays, and therefore the fee applies. When I explained that I was a fairly a new patient, I was not aware of their office hours, she said she will talk to Dr. Wu. Today I received a bill from the office for the fee. I was clearly charged the cancellation fee for switching to a new dentist.
I do not recommend Dr. Wu.

Just started going to Dr. Wu last year. The hygienist who cleaned my teeth was the best! She is only there on Thursdays though. She was thorough, and my teeth felt squeaky clean for a month after. She took the time to show me food trapping spots and taught me how to properly brush and clean those spots. Dr. Wu took out my wisdom teeth because it was growing in sideways! The actual extraction took less than 10 minutes. He is quick and efficient which is important as I am not a big fan of dental appointments. The office is clean and has plenty of parking which is a bonus.

Was rude and not great in execution. Still having some problems with the «fixes».
Felt like he was pushing his «wares» on me with disregard to whether I can afford or have insurance coverage.

I am writing this 2 years after I moved out of Waltham and I have to say Dr. Wu does pretty decent work (workmanship) and his prices are average. I chose him as he was close to where I lived but if I had to live in that area again I will try never to seek out his services again. Why? Because he does not take the time to do the work properly. On my last visit another patient had to be scheduled before me at the last minute leaving me late and on top of that in order for him to take his lunch break, he made me do the bite for 2 (yes, two) crowns simultaneously (hastily). I could barely bite down firm enough to fit one crown because of the discomfort I was experiencing, let alone TWO (at the same time). With each crown costing easily over a grand a piece he really could’ve (should have) taken the time to fit them properly. He even filed off my the enamel on the good teeth so that the crowns would sit properly! And he knew I was moving out of the area. So, as a result of those ill-​fitting crowns I had to see another dentist at my own further expense to get them re-​fitted.
Not only that incident is worthy of note but also his aggressive recommendations like getting all 4 wisdom teeth out, getting crown lengthening surgery and getting a crown after a filling had fallen out, root canal therapy (I had at least 2 done). It’s true the overall health of my teeth were pretty bad but instead of working with the patient’s circumstances with patience and understanding (not to mention economic disposition) he chose to maximize his income in the shortest time possible without doing the work with care that is required of him. I may be asking for too much when I list patience and understanding here because sadly, as we know these virtues are almost non-​existent in many circles of society today.
It could have been worse is what I can deduce from it all and I feel I have to put it out there for potential ‘victims’ so that they can make their choice wisely and if they do seek out his services, make sure he takes the time to do those services properly for you. My older brother was wiser as he wouldn’t go to him and ‘help pay for his mansion in Taiwan’ as he put it. But then, he had better teeth.

As much as people are hatin the Wu, I have been here for a root canal, gum surgery, and now a post and crown. I haven’t had to wait long any time at all, and in fact I even delayed an appointment twice, showed up (after borrowing a co-​workers car) and then had to leave, he was upset but understanding. People need to do their own damn research and be onto of their own stuff dentists and/​or doctors aren’t meant to babysit people and their finances, just guide. I do however wonder if I got scammed getting gum surgery before my root canal… I heard the assistant say okay so we are doing «tooth_​» and the guy (NOT Dr. Wu) say no, and the female assistant who is very nice seemed to be unsure as to why some teeth were getting gum surgery, well it seemed as if the one in question was the one that needed it most (the one to be getting a root canal). I wasn’t about to speak out against a guy who was going to perform surgery on my face. All said and done Kerry Wu is an excellent dentist, however passin’ the buck around to other people in the office to spread the wealth (or patients lack thereof) may be of concern to me. Attaining my dental records, X-​Rays, history of work, etc is a priority for me for personal work issues, however it will be re-​evaluated by hundreds of dentists once in my companies system for online medical and dental records available to the public, so we’ll see! Also I have been given a payment plan with Dr. Wu, but then again I have also spent $ 4500 as of October 21^st so maybe that is factored in.

Dr wu is a crook. His prices are out rageous. He is not repectful of his patients time and requires patients to wait entirely too long. I would not tell my worst enemy to go to dr wu.

I went to Dr. Wu in Nashua after Dr. Porzio retired. I had been going to Dr. Porzio for over 20 years, and absolutely loved him and all his staff. I am completely unhappy with Dr. Wu’s care. Every visit seems like a sales pitch for more dental services that I don’t need. Plus, I think his turnover rate is very high for hygienists and receptionists, as almost the entire staff is different every six months that I go in for a cleaning. I would not be surprised, as I have heard him talking down and being very disrespectful to his employees on multiple occasions, even in front of patients! Last time I was in a had a new hygienist, which I was not notified of until I was in the chair. She seemed very inexperienced (although she was super nice), she scraped my teeth so hard I was in pain for the next 2 days, and took over an hour to do my cleaning! (Usually I am in and out in 30 minutes)
I am looking for a new dentist and will NOT be going back to Dr. Wu’s office again.

The first time I went here, I had the BEST temp dental assistant who was soooo nice and gentle.
I went one more time, but cancelled all future appointments because the doctor fitted me with nightguard but failed to tell me that my insurance doesnt cover it and it would cost $ 400!!! I had to pay $ 70 just for the molding they put in.
You have to pay everything up front. they dont bill you. they’re not really good about telling you about how much things are going to cost. the receptionist is blah
the dentist is actually quite nice and knowledgable but they have to do a better job telling patients about prices.
