I first started going to this DMV in the 90s when I worked nearby. It’s been more than 15 years since I have worked in Wappingers Falls, and this is still my DMV of choice? Why? People and parking. The people here are among the friendliest DMV employees with whom I’ve ever dealt. Parking might be constrained at times since it shares the lot with a Dutchess Community College remote campus, but it’s still a lot more convenient than trying to find parking in the city of Poughkeepsie (and most likely having to pay for it).
I think everyone else has discovered this, unfortunately. Today there was a wait of up to an hour, depending on what service you requested. They’ve automated it as much as possible. When you enter, you press a button according to what service you want, and you’re given a ticket with a function code and number. You are eventually called to a specific window. The process works as smoothly as it can; a lot will always depend on just how many other people decide to visit the DMV the same day as you.

Best DMV I’ve ever been to! I’ve never had to wait more than 15 or 20 minutes and I’ve been treated so nice that I’ve forgotten about the horrible service at the DMV offices further south.
I used to live close to this office and since I’ve moved still prefer to drive 35 or 40 minutes to go there. Service is quicker and better and definitely worth the drive.
The place is clean with plenty of free parking right by the door. Much better than paying for parking and waiting for an hour and a half in the Peekskill office where customer service is pitiful!
I can actually drive to this office and be waited on and be back home in the same amount of time that I wasted in Peekskill!
I would recommend this office anytime! I think some of the other DMV offices could learn from them!
