Kah-Nee-Ta Resort & Spa

I like this place but it is not luxurious. It is very dated and they have not done upkeep. When going down the slide I scratched my back on the seam of the slide. They do not have diving boards anymore. You should probably bring your own towels because they sell you the ones with blue lines in it for 2 or 3 dollars. You should probably bring your own food because their food is not very good, expensive, and takes a long time. I like the place because I go during off-​season and there is no one there. I usually bring about five kids and they just go wild in the pools and it’s usually sunny. The staff is not all that friendly but they did allow us to cook smores in the lobby fire. It was fun! This place has a lot of potential but they are not reaching it. The landscape is beautiful and the hikes are nice. When you check out there’s all sorts of extra fees tacked on. I bought a $ 99 special. It ended up costing us almost $ 200 a night with nothing extra bought on the account. But it’s the Native American’s so I figure I can give them my money since my ancestors did steal their land… I like to support Native Americans although they do need a lesson in hospitality if they want to prosper in the resort business.

I love the outdoor pool, the warm water. The food is awful, and the rooms are old and run-​down looking. The price was way more than we wanted to pay. However, the balcony view of the desert with a quiet hot summer evening and a moon rise was hard to beat. Good for kids.

Stayed here for a work conference. The room was very disappointing. Very small and worn out décor. If you use a cpap or want to charge your phone by your bed, you will need to bring a small extension cord.
To be fair, I was staying on business rate, so some rooms may be nicer. I was on the top floor, and was able to leave my deck door open all night.

I had a really good time here hanging out at the pool with my husband the pool is beautiful. the only thing I would change is midweek they should have more specials make it a little more affordable. and maybe have a small after hours menu of sandwiches and potato chips or something for room service there’s absolutely nothing to do after the restaurant closes and not all of us go to bed at 9 and maybe some movie rentals. we had a great time during the day but seriously night it was so boring. Food was a little expensive it be nice if they had more of a casual bar like atmosphere. Or once again maybe some food midweek specials. the room is very clean the staff is very nice. But really if we’re going to be charged full price can we have a little bit more to do during the week

I’m not going to waste words getting into all the details of the chaos that was supposed to be our spa weekend… so I’m writing you guys a warning. The land the hotel is built on is very beautiful, but ide rather spend a night in a burlap sack full of cats than another weekend at this place.

Had a great time even though the facility and rooms are rundown and out of date. The food is over priced at marginal quality. They need NEW mattresses. The view and pools are top notch. The Saturday night salmon bake is a great time, good quality and entertaining.

We booked this «resort» for a weekend getaway with our kids. Although the kids did enjoy the pools and slides, the parents were not impressed. The rooms were extremely outdated and felt gross as the carpet and bed linens were stained.
The breakfast buffet was horrible. The staff was not happy. We definitely will not be returning. Way overpriced!!!

wow. what happened here? this place has changed from its glory days. the big pool has no more diving boards and has taken away anything remotely shady after being in the sun all day. wow.
the resort was a ghost town. y’all need to find ways to add amenities cause this place is a resort, not a desert.
no extras at all.
no hbo, no microwave, no menus for room service.
I enjoyed my hikes and pool time, but you could make tons of money in this oasis.
I hope that you can find that again.
ahhh childhood memories

Stayed in a teepee… other reviewers mentioned the rude staff. I have nothing but good things to say about the staff. Our problems stemmed from rude-​a** people that have no sense to understand that we are all there to make memories with our families and have a good time. We dont all think its necessary to let our kids rum loose like wild animals at 130 in the morning, nor laugh like cackling witches till 330 in the morning. .nor play futball till 200 in the morning. Have a little respect for others around you! 10:00pm was supposed to be «quiet time» but there was no one enforcing it. …the teepees are a fun idea, but our family thought it would have been more useful having the fire pit outside the teepee as opposed to inside. There was no roasting marshmallows for smores since it was 98 degrees in warm springs and probably 110 in the teepee. Seems like a better idea to have the fire pit outside. …the pool was nice. .but super crowded… we had fun (sort of) but I will probably not go back… too many nice lakes and rivers around to be fighting for space at a pool, or being kept awake all night from entitled people that think they are the only ones around.

Writing a review for when we went in April 2015.
Looking for a place to get a way with my siblings. Fortunately, we loved the view but the atmosphere and cleanliness of the resort was horrific. It is not how it use to be anymore. Everything was outdated and the hot tub didn’t even work. Apparently it had been down mutplitple times and they still didn’t get it fixed.
We ate the food downstairs and ordered nachos. I wish we didn’t. Nachos looked like it was bought from the store but STALE. The chicken were frozen and microwaved and the nacho cheese came from a can. I was mortified.
We confronted the manager and she gave us a refund on some things which was nice.
However, we would never go here again. It is simply not the same anymore.

I’ve been going to Kahneeta resort for well over 35 years now. It’s in the worst shape I’ve ever seen and really don’t know why I keep going back and staying. I guess for my kids sake and enjoy the area.
The rooms are terrible and outdated. Our AC unit was not working and on a 100 degree day it made for a long night of sleeping. I almost slept on the benches in the salmon bake area!
The TV’s were out of the 80’s as well. Do you know they now make flat screens? I’m surprised the phones aren’t rotary.
They have not done any maintenance or improvements for 30 years. It’s like a time capsule of my childhood. I will have to say to food was pretty good in the old casino building downstairs. When they moved to casino it really crippled this resort. No one wants to ride a short bus down narrow roads and back.
The employees don’t seem happy and it’s just a paycheck. New owners or tribe is needed or this place will turn into another old brown building next to the road. It’s really sad to see since I’ve spent a ton of money over the years to support them. Time to find a new resort!

Not downright horrible, but certainly not worth the money. Think Super 8 atmosphere, Motel 6 service and amenities at Marriott prices. Deferred maintenance is obvious from the peeling paint and warped boards on the building to crumbling asphalt in the parking lots.
Surprised to be told when I arrived that my card had been charged already for the stay, but they need to charge a $ 50 deposit for «incidentals and damages». I have no idea what incidentals would be at this place not how they would tell damages from deterioration.
Our «pool pass» was only good for one adult and didn’t include a towel ($ 2 more) or use of the water slide ($ 4 more).
The website has hiking trails which is what we wanted to do. One trail, «red» indicates you can walk to the casino. No, the casino moved three years ago and is about 10 – 15 min. by car or shuttle. When we asked about it, the attitude was we were silly to be asking about it.
While strictly speaking the casino probably isn’t part of the resort, it is worth mentioning that if you are going for the casino, there are a few others in Oregon that are much more worth your time.

Two stars only because of lingering fondness from childhood memories. In all honesty, we had a pretty awful stay.
Having vacationed in Kah-​née-​tah nearly every year until I was in my late teens, I was super excited to return in my mid-​30s and to show my husband one of the places where I grew up. We opted to stay in a teepee, satisfying one of my childhood dreams.
The teepees are very expensive — around $ 150 a night, or approximately 10 times the price of our normal tent camping sites — but we thought it would be worth it, and we have been camping for about a month while traveling the US and Canada; we are perfectly fine with rustic conditions. While the teepee itself was fun and the fire pit was perfect, the neighbors were terrible. Really, really TERRIBLE. Despite the «quiet hours,» we were awoken at about 5:30 am by screaming kids and their astonishingly loud parents. Kids are kids, we understand. But this was right by our heads as we lay inside our teepee, with just thin leather between us and the shouting. Shortly after, the shouting people were joined by an entire herd of boy scouts and their inattentive — and apparently drunk — parents. More shouting and running around ensued. At one point, someone’s off-​leash dog came into our teepee!
We eventually gave up on sleeping and when we went to check out of our teepee, the staff didn’t bother to ask how our stay was (in fact, they barely seemed to care that we were standing in front of them).
A visit to the hot spring pool was included in the price of our overnight stay. It was pretty much as I remember from childhood: nice water temperature, lots of kids running and splashing, and very hot sun. Don’t forget your sunblock! We spent maybe 30 minutes in the water and left.
The nicer of the two on-​site restaurants was still closed for the season. Since we are interested in local dining and interesting dishes, we chose to skip the food and leave. Couldn’t have made a better choice: We found an awesome fry bread food truck just outside the property and got cheap, delicious fry bread while we chatted with super cute local children.
Moral of the story: We will not visit again and, sadly, cannot recommend Kah-​née-​tah to anyone else (unless, of course, you are the habitually-​drunk and exceedingly noisy parents of small kids whom you don’t supervise, and you don’t mind infringing on other people’s sleep). The inattentive parents and uncaring staff made for a sleepless night. We left tired and disappointed.

First time here, so disappointed :(the marketing person does do a very good job making this place sound fantastic but don’t get fooled like I did. It’s old, dirty, confused, and you can not understand directions. By the amount they charged… It’s more than enough to make his place better for their guest.

Family 4+ star success. This review is for families with young swim age children who like people. We had no idea or expectations about the resort. A groupon persuaded me to book a night. From first encounter the phone support was friendly and accommodating. The rooms were clean. The shower/​toilet was a bit cramped when trying to assist little ones. I would deduct ½ star for that. Not given the choice to do that I will leave it a 5 star and just point out the resort was designed in the 1970s. Not much the staff today can do about that issue. We loved the village pool. It’s warm, warm water. We loved it! We marked all of our water toys with permanent marker. Loads of kids, so easier to identify our water toys later. Get there early to claim your shade or to get front row chairs to watch the kids. We loved staying at the lodge as the pool at the lodge (not mineral springs) is heated and open till 10pm. Nice 2^nd option from the busy village pool.
Why not a 5 star rating?
Small shower/​toilet room at the Lodge. Challenge to assist small children. Not such an issue with older children and adults.
Village and Lodge pool lounge chairs cheap plastic, low to the ground. A good pool must have good, comfy chairs to relax in. These are short for lounge chairs and on the ground. Hard to get out of. Easy to move.
Food options, limited. We enjoyed the breakfast buffet at the lodge. The Lodge rooms does have a fridge. So you can keep jam and milk cold for sandwiches or cereal. Bring disposable bowls, plates and cutlery. No coolers or food at the village pool. You will have to return to your room to eat.
My family truly enjoyed our time at Kah-​Née-​Ta and we plan on returning next year. Or any time they have a groupon.

I gave this place three stars because it’s a great value for the price. It is nowhere nearly as nice as some of the other golf resorts in Central Oregon. Not even close. But that’s not who they are trying to be anyway. This is a great place for normal families to go when they have a weekend open. I love you can get out of the Portland rain for a few days and hang out in the 92° mineral warmed pools and waterpark that are here at the lodge. We spent $ 100 a night roughly for our family to stay here. Central Oregon is amazing so there are a lot of places to go from here. Consider this is part of the review, you could stay in a days inn in Bend for about $ 110 a night and they may have a little indoor pool. Or you could stay here. Great fireplace here in the lobby and great swimming for the whole family any time of year. I take his place over a regular motel or hotel of similar price any day. Don’t try to compare it to Eagles crest or some of the other more resort-​like lodges here in the area again that’s not the same genre.

Pricey for the level of service, ambience and amenities. Water park is actually just two slides and a medium sized pool. Disappointing after looking at the pictures before coming. Rooms are bare and old. Seemed clean though.
Fun for kids though. We were 8 families with 11 kids. They had a ball.

The indian fry bread is pretty good. I enjoyed the salmon bake dinner — and I generally don’t like salmon. Also got a cool show featuring native tribal dance.

Looking for a relaxing getaway or something close to being outdoor/​water park? Kah-​Née-​Ta is a short-​ish drive from Portland, about 2 hours away. Didn’t go to the Casino but went to their water park. It’s not big at all, but it is outdoor and heated.
Food was surprisingly good inside their lodge. There is nothing around unless you’re willing to drive about 30 mins into town.
The rooms need a renovation for sure, carpet is old and worn out. Their TV is not a flat screen or HD, don’t expect anything modern and fancy.

This is a lunch review only. I stopped over here because tour books suggested it was the best food between Hood River and Redmond.
Getting here tried my patience. You turn off the highway at a junction, drive ten miles to another junction, drive another ten miles to a third junction, three miles to the entrance to the complex, two miles to the road to the lodge, then up a winding hill to the parking lot, which fortunately is right by the front door. This better be worth it. Well, it wasn’t not worth it.
Lunch turns out to be served at the «Warm Springs Grill», a cavernous space behind a bar. Looked deserted, but the service turned out to be fairly attentive and the food from the basic pub grub menu well made. I got the most Indian thing on the menu — this is after all a tribe-​owned and operated resort on a reservation — a bison burger on fry bread. Thick, juicy, not overcooked burger, and the fry bread, which was a lot lighter in texture than it looked, was addictively tasty.
